The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Your leaders will lead you in Salat (prayer). If they conduct it properly, you and they will be rewarded; but if they make mistakes you will earn the reward and they will be held responsible (for the mistakes)."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Jafar ibn Muhammad from his father that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was washed in a long shirt.

Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying, “God most high is jealous of His honour, and the believer is jealous. God’s jealousy is to the effect that a believer should not commit what God has prohibited.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

‘Abdallah b. ‘Umar reported God’s Messenger as saying, “When a slave acts sincerely towards his master and worships God well, he has a double reward.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

‘Abdallah b. ‘Umar reported God's Messenger as saying, “If anyone buys a slave and makes no stipulation about his property, he gets none of it.” Darimi transmitted it.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Allah forgives every sin of a martyr, except his debt."

Another narration in Muslim is: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Being martyred in the Cause of Allah expiates for everything, except debt."

Prior to his demise, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to supplicate frequently: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi; Astaghfirullaha wa atubu ilaihi (Allah is free from imperfection, and I begin with praising Him. I beg forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance."

He reported God’s Messenger as saying, "I swear by God that it is more sinful in God’s sight for one of you to persist in his oath regarding his family than to give for it the atonement God has imposed.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

Should it so happen that we come into contact with one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) we shall ask him about what is talked about taqdir (Divine Decree). Accidentally we came across Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab, while he was entering the mosque. My companion and I surrounded him. One of us (stood) on his right and the other stood on his left. I expected that my companion would authorize me to speak. I therefore said: Abu Abdur Rahman! There have appeared some people in our land who recite the Qur'an and pursue knowledge. And then after talking about their affairs, added: They (such people) claim that there is no such thing as Divine Decree and events are not predestined. He (Abdullah ibn Umar) said: When you happen to meet such people tell them that I have nothing to do with them and they have nothing to do with me. And verily they are in no way responsible for my (belief). Abdullah ibn Umar swore by Him (the Lord) (and said): If any one of them (who does not believe in the Divine Decree) had with him gold equal to the bulk of (the mountain) Uhud and spent it (in the way of Allah), Allah would not accept it unless he affirmed his faith in Divine Decree. He further said: My father, Umar ibn al-Khattab, told me: One day we were sitting in the company of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes, his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him. None amongst us recognized him. At last he sat with the Apostle (peace be upon him) He knelt before him placed his palms on his thighs and said: Muhammad, inform me about al-Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Al-Islam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough (to bear the expense of) the journey. He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth. He (Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: It amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the truth. He (the inquirer) said: Inform me about Iman (faith). He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you affirm ...

Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying, “If anyone meets God with no mark of jihad, he will meet God with a flaw in him.” Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah (RAA) narrated, "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) stoned a man from Aslam to death, a Jewish man and a woman. Related by Muslim.

Allah's Messneger (SAW) said, "One who is in Ihram may not marry, or be given in marriage." [Reported by Muslim]. In another narration by him it says: "He should not ask someone's hand in marriage."

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "It is enough for a person to be considered sinful, that he neglects those whom he is responsible to sustain." [Reported by an-Nasa'i].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "People of two different religions do not inherit from one another." [Reported by Ahmad and al-Arba'a except at-Tirmidhi].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Whoever prays twelve Rak'at of Duha, Allah will build a castle for him in Paradise." [Reported by at-Tirmidhi who graded it Gharib (reported by a single narrator)].

Abu Musa reported God's messenger as saying, “No one is more patient over injury which he hears than God. Men attribute a son to Him, yet He preserves them and provides for them.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

‘Uthman b. ‘Affan reported God's messenger as saying, “Whoever dies knowing that there is no god but God will enter paradise." Muslim transmitted it.

Matar b. ‘Ukamis reported God’s messenger as saying, “When God decrees that someone should die in a certain land, He gives him a reason for going there." Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it.

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “When you pray over the dead, make a sincere supplication for him." Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

He reported God’s messenger as saying, “God has not listened to anything as He does to a prophet with a good voice reciting the Qur’ān aloud.” (Bukhārī and Muslim.)

Jabir reported God’s Messenger as saying, “A townsman must not sell for a man from the desert; if you leave people alone, God will give them provision from one another.” Muslim transmitted it.

‘Abdallah b. az-Zubair told that God’s Messenger gave the decision that the two adversaries should be made to sit in front of the judge. Ahmad and Abu Dawud transmitted it.

Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The world is but a (quick passing) enjoyment; and the best enjoyment of the world is a pious and virtuous woman".

[Muslim].

Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not look at him who trails his lower garment out of pride."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not look at him who trails his lower garment out of pride."

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Verily! Setting out in the early morning or in the evening in order to fight in Allah's way is better than the world and what it contains."

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He who is killed while defending his property is a martyr."

I saw Messenger of Allah (PBUH) lying down on his back in the mosque, placing one leg on the other.

Messenger of Allah (PBUH), said to me, "Mention Allah's Name (i.e., say Bismillah before starting eating), eat with your right hand, and eat from what is near you."

the Messenger of Allah forbade meeting traders on the way.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) forbade the transaction called habal al-habalah.

The Prophet (saws) said: Allah did not make anything lawful more abominable to Him than divorce.

‘Abdallah b. 'Amr told that God’s messenger used to say, “O God, I ask Thee for health, continence, integrity, a good character, and acceptance of what is decreed.”

Ibn ‘Umar reported God’s Messenger as saying, “The perfidious one will have a standard set up for him on the day of resurrection, and announcement will be made that this is the perfidy* of so and so, the son of so and so.” (Bukhari and Muslim.) * This is explained as meaning the sign, result, or punishment of his perfidy.

‘A’isha said that stopping at al-Abtah was not a sunna ; God’s messenger stopped there simply because it was easier for him to depart from when he left. Bukhari and Muslim.

‘Abdallah b. ‘Utba b. Mas'ud said that God’s Messenger recited at the sunset prayer H.M. ad-Dukhan (Al-Qur’an; 44). Nasa’i transmitted it in mursal form.

Ibn ‘Umar reported God’s Messenger as saying, “Resting the hands on the waist in prayer is the comfort of those who go to hell.” [Baghawi] transmitted it in Sharh as-sunna.

‘A’isha said that God’s messanger prayed in his private apartment and the people followed his lead behind the apartment. Abu Dawud transmitted it.

‘Ali reported God’s Messenger as saying, “God is single (witr) and loves what is single, so observe the witr, you who follow the Qur’an.” Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Nasa’i transmitted it.

He reported God's Messenger as saying, “When you tell your companion on Friday to be silent while the imam is preaching, you are guilty of idle talk." (Bukhari and Muslim.)

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “No retaliation is payable for a wound caused by a dumb animal, or for an accident in a well or a mine, but a fifth is payable on buried treasure.” * (Bukhari and Muslim.) * The word used (rikaz) is applied to treasure buried by people in pre-Islamic times; but the word may also mean metal in mines.

He reported God’s messenger as saying, “None of you Muslim women must consider even a sheep’s trotter too insignificant a gift to give to her neighbour.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

Abu Musa reported God’s messenger as saying, “God does not accept the prayer of a man who has any khaluq on his body.” Abu Dawud transmitted it.

Anas told that one morning he took ‘Abdallah b. Abu Talha to God’s messenger for him to chew something and rub his palate with it,* and found him with a branding-iron in his hand branding the camels of the sadaqa. *This was a custom for the purpose of acquiring a blessing for children. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

‘A’isha reported God’s messenger as saying, "The 'ajwa dates of al-‘Aliya* contain healing, and they are an antidote first thing in the morning." *A name applied to some villages a few miles east of Medina. Muslim transmitted it.

“Abdallah b. 'Amr said God’s messenger was never seen reclining while eating, nor walking with two men at his heels. Abu Dawud transmitted it.

Allah’s Messenger (saw) was asked about making vinegar out of wine. He said, “No (it is prohibited)”. [Reported by Muslim, and At-Tirmidhi and the latter graded it Hasan-Sahih (fair and sound)].

Allah’s Messenger (rad) said, “When you perform ablution, begin with your right limbs”. [Reported by Al-Arba’a and garded Sahih by Ibn Khuzaima].

Al-Maisur bin Makhramah (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) sacrificed his animal before he shaved and commanded his companions to do so.’ Related by Al-Bukhari.

Ibn 'Abbas (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) said, “There is no emigration (from Makkah to al·Madinah) after the conquest of Makkah, but only Jihad (in the Cause of Allah) and a good intention.

Samurah (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) said, “Kill the mature men of the polytheists but spare their children.” Related by Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi graded it as Sahih.

Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) said, "When it is the middle of Sha'ban do not fast (until it is Ramadan).” Related by the five Imams, but Imam Ahmad declared it to be a weak narration.

Ibn 'Umar (RAA) narrated, "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) prohibited eating the animal which feeds on filth or drinks its milk." Related by the four Imams except for An-Nasai. At-Tirmidhi graded it as Hasan.

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Make marriage publicly known." [Reported by Ahmad and al-Hakim graded it Sahih (authentic)].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) prohibited the money paid for a dog, the payment of a prostitute, and the payment given to a soothsayer." [Agreed upon].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) gave permission regarding al-'Araya for its sale on the basis of a calculation (of what the dates would be when dry) by measure. [Agreed upon].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) forbade al-Muzara'ah (employing people on land for a share of the produce), and ordered al-Mu'ajara (renting it out for cash). [Reported by Muslim].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "The direction between the east and west is Qiblah." [Reported by at-Tirmidhi, and al-Bukhari considered it Qawi (strong)].

I saw Allah's Messenger (SAW) praying while mounted on his riding animal facing whatever direction it faced. [Agreed upon].

I heard Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "No Salat (prayer) can be (rightly offered) with food brought (before the worshiper) or when he is resisting the urge to relive himself of the two filths (i.e. urine and feces)."

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "When you prostrate, place the palms of your hands on the ground and raise your elbows." [Reported by Muslim).

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "When anyone of you prays the Jumu'ah prayer, he should pray four (optional) Rak'at after it." [Reported by Muslim].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: "('Eid) al-Fitr is the day on which the people break the fast, and ('Eid) al-Adha is the day the people offer sacrifices." [Reported by at-Tirmidhi].

Anas reported God’s messenger as saying, “He who goes out in search of knowledge is in God’s path till he returns.” Tirmidhi and Darimi transmitted it.

He also reported God’s messenger as saying, “It is enough falsehood for a man to relate everything he hears.” Muslim transmitted it.

He also reported God’s messenger as saying, “Islam began as a small religion and will return to the state in which it began. Then blessed will be the few [who hold to it]' Muslim transmitted it.

He also reported God’s messenger as saying, “Faith will shrink back to Medina as a snake shrinks back to its hole.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as Saying, “He who holds fast to my sunna when my people are in a corrupt state will have the reward of a hundred martyrs.” ^{1 1} The source is lacking. The editor of Damascus edition quotes Mirak Shah and others as saying Bayhaqi gives the tradition in his kitab az-Zuhd as coming from Ibn Abbas.

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “No ablution is necessary except when one makes a sound or breaks wind.” Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it.

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “When you put on your clothes and when you perform ablution begin with the right side.” Ahmad and Abu Dawud transmitted it.

‘A'isha said that the Prophet did not perform ablution after washing. Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

She said that God’s messenger would be overtaken by the dawn in Ramadan when he was in a state of sexual defilement, not owing to a dream, and would wash and fast. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

‘A'isha said that God’s messenger used to exert himself in devotion during the last ten nights to a greater extent than at any other time. Muslim transmitted it.

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “Keep much in your remembrance the cutter off of delights, i.e., death.” Tirmidhi, Nasa'i and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

‘A’isha reported God’s messenger as saying, “Do not revile the dead, for they have come to what they have sent before them.” Bukhari transmitted it.

‘Abdallah b. Mas'ud reported God's Messenger as saying, “Trying to earn a lawful livelihood is an obligatory duty in addition to the duties which are obligatory.” Baihaqi transmitted it in Shu’ab al-iman.

Jabir told that God’s Messenger gave a desert Arab the right to rescind a bargain after having made it. Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a hasan sahih gharib tradition.
