Sunan Abi Dawud 2219
Narrated Hisham b. 'Urwah:
Khawlah was the wife of Aws ibn as-Samit; he was a man immensely given to sexual intercourse. When his desire for intercourse was intensified, he made his wife like his mother's back. So Allah, the Exalted, sent down Qur'anic verses relating to expiation for zihar.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، أَنَّ جَمِيلَةَ، كَانَتْ تَحْتَ أَوْسِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ وَكَانَ رَجُلاً بِهِ لَمَمٌ فَكَانَ إِذَا اشْتَدَّ لَمَمُهُ ظَاهَرَ مِنَ امْرَأَتِهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِيهِ كَفَّارَةَ الظِّهَارِ .

The Prophet (saws) said: the similitude of a man who emancipates a slave at the time of his death is like that of a man who gives a present after satisfying his appetite.

Al-Bara’ said:
When we prayed behind God’s Messenger we liked to be on his right side so that he would turn his face towards us. He said that he had heard him say, ‘My Lord, guard me from Thy punishment on the day Thou raisest (or, gatherest) Thy servants.”
Muslim transmitted it.

Abu Huraira said that when God’s messenger was brought food he asked whether it was a present or sadaqa, and if he was informed that it was sadaqa he told his companions to eat, but did not eat himself; if however he was informed that it was a present he put in his hand and ate along with them.

Salman (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) said, “Your Rabb (Lord of the Universe) is Modest and Generous, and would never turn the hands of a slave without gain when he raises them to Him (in supplication).” Related by the four lmams except An-Nasa’i. Al-Hakim graded it as Sahih.

Umm Salamah (RAA) narrated that she was wearing golden ornaments and asked the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.), ‘Is it considered as a treasure?’ He said, “If you pay the due Zakah, then it is not considered as a treasure.” Related by Abu Dawud and Ad-Daraqutni.
وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا; { أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَلْبَسُ أَوْضَاحً ا 1 مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ! أَكَنْزٌ هُوَ? ] فَـ [ قَالَ:

'Abdur Rahman bin 'Auf (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A thief is not to be fined if the prescribed punishment has been inflicted on him." Related by An-Nasa'i who said that its chain of narrators is disconnected.

This Hadith is more authentic than the Hadith narrated by Wa'il bin Hujr (RA).

Narrated Thauban (RA):
Whenever Allah's Messenger (SAW) finished his prayer, he used to say after asking Allah's forgiveness three times: "O Allah, You are as-Salam (One Free from every defect), and as-Salam (safety from every evil) is (sought) from You. Blessed are You, O Possessor of glory and honour."

Umm Hisham (RA) daughter of Haritha said:
I learnt Surat Qaf (Chapter 50) from no other source than the tongue of Allah's Messenger (SAW) who used to recite it every Friday on the pulpit when he delivered the Khutbah (sermon) to the people."

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “When a man
dies no further reward is recorded for his actions, with three exceptions:
sadaqa which continues to be supplied, or knowledge from which benefit
continues to be reaped, or the prayers of a good son for his dead father.”

Mishkat al-Masabih 2400, 2401
Hudhaifa said that when the Prophet wanted to go to sleep he placed his hand under his head and said, "O God, guard me from thy punishment on the day when Thou gatherest Thy servants," or "raisest up Thy servants."
Tirmidhi transmitted it, and Ahmad gave al-Bara’ as his authority.

Qatada narrated on the authority of Anas b. Malik that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:
He who forgets the prayer, or he slept (and it was omitted), its expiation is (only) that he should observe it when he remembers it.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar that Abdullah ibn Umar said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When a jew greets you, and says 'Death to you' (as-samu alaykum) say, 'And to you.' "
Yahya said, "Malik was asked whether a person who greeted a jew or christian, should apologise for it. He said, 'No'."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that A'isha, umm al-muminin said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to pray thirteen rakas in the night and then would pray two rakas when he heard the adhan for the subh prayer."

Narrated One of the Wives of the Prophet:
Ikrimah reported on the authority of one of the wives of the Prophet (saws) saying: When the Prophet (saws) wanted to do something (i.e. kissing, embracing) with (his) menstruating wife, he would put a garment on her private part.

Narrated Wa'il ibn Hujr:

Sunan Abi Dawud 5169
‘Abd Allah b. ‘Umar reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying:
when a slave acts sincerely towards his master and worship Allah well, he will have a double reward.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ

Narrated Abu Hurairah:
We prostrated ourselves along with the Messenger of Allah (saws) on account of: "When the sky is rent asunder" and "Recite in the name of Your Lord Who created"

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 198
Bilal narrated:
"Allah's Messenger said [to me]: 'Do not say the Tathwib for any prayer except the Fajr prayer.'"
[He said:] There is something on this topic from Abu Mahdhurah.
Abu `Eisa said: We do not know of the Hadith of Bilal except as a narration of Abu Isra'il Al-Mula'i. Abu Isra'il did not hear this Hadith from Al-Hakam bin `Utaibah.
He said: He only reported it from Al-Hasan bin `Umarah, from Al-Hakam bin `Utaibah. Abu Isra'il's name is [Isma`il bin Abi Ishaq, and he is not strong according to the people of Hadith.
The people of knowledge have differed over the interpretation of At-Tathwib.
Some of them say that At-Tathwib is when one says "As-Salatu Khairummin An-Nawm, (prayer is better than sleep)" for the Adhan
of Fajr. This is the saying of Ibn Al-Mubarak and Ahmad.
Ishaq said something different about At-Tathwib, he said: "[The disliked Tathwib] is something that the people started after the Prophet; when the Mu'adh-dhin
calls the Adhan and the people are slow in coming, so between the Adhan and the Iqamah he says:
'Qad Qamatis-Salat, Hayya `Alasalat, Hayya `AlalFalah. (Prayer is ready, come to prayer, come to success.)"
[He said:] This Tathwib, which Ishaq mentioned, is the one that the people of knowledge dislike, which they innovated after the Prophet.
But Ibn Al-Mubarak and Ahmad explained that At-Tathwib is when the Mu'adh-dhin says: "As-Salatu Khairum minan-Nawm, (prayer is better than sleep)" for the Adhan of Fajr.
And this is the correct saying, and it is called At-Tathawwub as well, and this is the one chosen by the people of knowledge, and it is their opinion.
It has been reported from `Abdullah bin `Umar that he would say: "As-Salatu Khairum-minan-Nawm, (prayer is better than sleep)" for Fajr.
It has been reported from Mujahid that he said: "I entered a Masjid with `Abdullah bin `Umar in which the Adhan was called, and we wanted to pray in it. Then the Mu'adh-dhin said the Tathwib. So `Abdullah bin `Umar left the Masjid and said: 'Let us leave the place of this innovator' And he did not pray in it."
[He said:] `Abdullah only disliked the Tathwib that the people invented later on.

Sahih Muslim 1802 a
It has been narrated on the authority of Salama b. al-Akwa' who said:
We marched upon Khaibar with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). We journeyed during the night. One of the people said to (my brother) 'Amir b. al-Akwa': Won't you recite to us some of your verses? Amir was a poet. So he began to chant his verses to urge the camels, reciting:
O God, if Thou hadst not guided us
We would have neither been guided rightly nor practised charity,
Nor offered prayers.
We wish to lay down our lives for Thee; so forgive Thou our lapses,
And keep us steadfast when we encounter (our enemies).
Bestow upon us peace and tranquillity.
Behold, when with a cry they called upon us to help.
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Who is this driver (of the camels)? They said: It is 'Amir. He said: God will show mercy to him. A man said: Martyrdom is reserved for him. Messenger of Allah, would that you had allowed us to benefit ourselves from his life. (The narrator says): We reached Khaibar and besieged them, and (we continued the siege) until extreme hunger afflicted us. Then the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Behold, God has conquered it for you. When it was evening of the day on which the city was conquered. the Muslims lit many fires. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: What are these fires? And what are they cooking? They said: They are cooking meat. He asked. Which meat? They said: That of domestic asses. He said: Let them throw it away and break the pots (in which it is being cooked). A man said: Or should they throw it away and wash the pots? He said: They may do that. When the people drew themselves up in battle array 'Amir caught hold of his sword that was rather short He drove a Jew before him to strike him with it. (As he struck him), his sword recoiled and struck his own knee, and 'Amir died of the wound. When the people returned (after the conquest of Kliaibar) and he (Salama) had caught hold of my hand, and said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) saw that I was silent (and dejected) ; he said: What's the matter with thee? I said to him: My father and my mother be thy ransom, people presume that 'Amir's sacrifice has been in vain. He asked: Who has said that? I said: So and so and Usaid b. Hudair al-Ansari. Narrated 'Amr b. Suh'aib:
On his father's authority, said that his grandfather reported the Prophet (saws) said: When one of you marries his male-slave to his slave-woman, he should not look at her private parts.

Abu Huraira reported God's Messenger as saying, “When one of you stands up to pray the devil comes to him and confuses him so that he does not know how much he has prayed. If any of you has such an experience he should perform two prostrations during the period when he sits.”*

Al-A‘raj said:
I never came upon the people without hearing them cursing the infidels during Ramadan. The reader recited sura al-Baqara (Al-Qur’an; 2) in the course of eight rak'as, and when he made it serve for twelve rak'as the people thought he had shortened the prayer.
Malik transmitted it.

Tirmidhi transmitted it, and said this was a tradition he knew only among the traditions of Muhammad b. al-Fadl who was weak and whose traditions were not accepted.

Anas told that when God's messenger prayed the dawn prayer the servants in Medina brought their vessels containing water and they would not bring a vessel into which he did not dip his hand. They would often bring them on a cold morning and he would dip his hand into them.

'Abdullah said, "When one of you seeks something he needs, he should

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless
him and grant him peace, said, "When one of you wishes for something, he
should look to what he desires. He does not know what he will be given."

Bulugh al-Maram 581
‘Uthman Ibn ‘Affan (RAA) narrated, ‘Whenever the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) finished the burial of the dead, he would stand by the grave and say, “Seek forgiveness for your brother and pray for him to be steadfast, because he is now being questioned.” Related by Abu Dawud. Al-Hakim graded it as Sahih.
وَعَنْ عُثْمَانَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ دَفْنِ الْمَيِّتِ وَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ:

Narrated Umm Salamah (RA):
She asked the Prophet (SAW), "Can a woman pray in a long dress and a veil without wearing a lower garment?" He replied, "If the long dress is ample and covers the surface of her feet."
[Reported by Abu Dawud and the Imams graded it Mawquf (a saying of Umm Salamah)].

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA):
The Prophet (SAW) said, "If you hear the Iqamah, you must walk to the prayer (place) with tranquility and dignity, and do not hasten; and whatever portion of the prayer you get (along with the Imam) offer it, and complete afterwards whatever you missed.

Hadith 29, 40 Hadith Qudsi
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says:
My faithful servant's reward from Me, if I have taken to Me his best friend from amongst the inhabitants of the world and he has then borne it patiently for My sake, shall be nothing less than Paradise.
It was related by al-Bukhari.

Mishkat al-Masabih 358
‘Ali reported God’s messenger as saying, "The covering between the eyes of the jinn and the private parts of the children of Adam when one of them enters the privy is provided by his saying, ‘In the name of God.’”
Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying that this is a gharib tradition and that its isnad is not strong.

Mishkat al-Masabih 1531
She said that when a person complained of some trouble, or if he had a sore or a wound, the Prophet would say while pointing with his finger, “In the name of God. It is the soil of our land with the spittle of one of us (the suggestion is that the Prophet took some earth on his finger and spat on it), that our sick one may be healed by our Lord’s permission.”

Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ إِذَا خَرَجُوا إِلَى الْمَقَابِرِ: «السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لَلَاحِقُونَ نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ» . رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If two disputants sit before you, do not speak until you have listened to the second one as you listened to the first.`
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا جَلَسَ إِلَيْكَ الْخَصْمَانِ فَلَا تَكَلَّمْ حَتَّى تَسْمَعَ مِنْ الْآخَرِ كَمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ الْأَوَّلِ.

Yahya related to me from Malik that Abdullah ibn Dinar said, "I heard Abdullah ibn Umar recite from the Qur'an, 'Prophet! When you divorce women, divorce them at the beginning of their idda.'"
Malik said, "He meant by that, to make one pronouncement of divorce at the beginning of each period of purity."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، قَرَأَ {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ} لِقُبُلِ عِدَّتِهِنَّ . قَالَ مَالِكٌ يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَ فِي كُلِّ طُهْرٍ مَرَّةً .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that if Abdullah ibn Umar had finished the fast of Ramadan and intended to do hajj, he would not cut his hair or beard at all until he had done hajj.
Malik said, "It is not necessary for people to do the same."
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، كَانَ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ لَمْ يَأْخُذْ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ وَلاَ مِنْ لِحْيَتِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يَحُجَّ . قَالَ مَالِكٌ لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "When the slave divorces his wife twice, she is haram for him until she has married another husband, whether she is free or a slave. The idda of a free woman is three menstrual periods, and the idda of a slave-girl is two periods.
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا طَلَّقَ الْعَبْدُ امْرَأَتَهُ تَطْلِيقَتَيْنِ فَقَدْ حَرُمَتْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَنْكِحَ زَوْجًا غَيْرَهُ حُرَّةً كَانَتْ أَوْ أَمَةً وَعِدَّةُ الْحُرَّةِ ثَلاَثُ حِيَضٍ وَعِدَّةُ الأَمَةِ حَيْضَتَانِ .
