Sunan Abi Dawud 5242
Narrated Abu Buraydah:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say: A human being has three hundred and sixty joints for each of which he must give alms. The people asked him: Who is capable of doing this ? He replied: It may be mucus in the mosque which you bury, and something which you remove from the road; but if you do not find such, two rak'ahs in the forenoon will be sufficient for you.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي بُرَيْدَةَ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " فِي الإِنْسَانِ ثَلاَثُمِائَةٍ وَسِتُّونَ مَفْصِلاً فَعَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْ كُلِّ مَفْصِلٍ مِنْهُ بِصَدَقَةٍ " . قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ قَالَ " النُّخَاعَةُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ تَدْفِنُهَا وَالشَّىْءُ تُنَحِّيهِ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدْ فَرَكْعَتَا الضُّحَى تُجْزِئُكَ " .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1736
Ibn `Abbas said the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) was at al-Rawha. There he met some riders. He saluted them and asked who they were. They replied that they were Muslims. They asked who are you. They (the companions) replied he is the Messenger of Allah (SWAS). A woman became upset :
she took her child by his arm and lifted him from her litter at the camel. She said Messenger of Allah (SWAS) can this (child) be credited with having performed Hajj. He replied Yes, and you will have a reward.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِالرَّوْحَاءِ فَلَقِيَ رَكْبًا فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ " مَنِ الْقَوْمُ " . فَقَالُوا الْمُسْلِمُونَ . فَقَالُوا فَمَنْ أَنْتُمْ قَالُوا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . فَفَزِعَتِ امْرَأَةٌ فَأَخَذَتْ بِعَضُدِ صَبِيٍّ فَأَخْرَجَتْهُ مِنْ مِحَفَّتِهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ لِهَذَا حَجٌّ قَالَ " نَعَمْ وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ " .

Sunan Abi Dawud 4618
Humaid said:
Al-Hasan came to us. The jurists of Mecca told me that I should speak to him that some day he should hold a meeting for them and preach to them. He said: Yes. So they gathered and he addressed them. I did not see anyone on orator greater than him. A man said: Abu Sa’id, who created Satan? He replied: Glory be to Allah! Is there any creator other than Allah? Allah created Satan, and he created good and created evil. The man said: May Allah ruin them! How do they lie to this old man.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، قَالَ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا الْحَسَنُ مَكَّةَ فَكَلَّمَنِي فُقَهَاءُ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ أَنْ أُكَلِّمَهُ فِي أَنْ يَجْلِسَ لَهُمْ يَوْمًا يَعِظُهُمْ فِيهِ . فَقَالَ نَعَمْ . فَاجْتَمَعُوا فَخَطَبَهُمْ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ أَخْطَبَ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ مَنْ خَلَقَ الشَّيْطَانَ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ هَلْ مِنْ خَالِقٍ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الشَّيْطَانَ وَخَلَقَ الْخَيْرَ وَخَلَقَ الشَّرَّ . قَالَ الرَّجُلُ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ كَيْفَ يَكْذِبُونَ عَلَى هَذَا الشَّيْخِ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 3603
'Uqbah bin al-Harith said:
"I married Umm Yahya daughter of Abu Ihab. A black woman entered upon us. She said that she had suckled both of us. So I came to the Prophet (saws), and amentioned it to him. He turned away from me. I said (to him): Messenger of Allah! she is a liar. He said: What do you know? She has said what she has said. Separate yourself from her (wife).
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ صَاحِبٌ، لِي عَنْهُ - وَأَنَا لِحَدِيثِ، صَاحِبِي أَحْفَظُ - قَالَ تَزَوَّجْتُ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَيْنَا امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْنَا جَمِيعًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا لَكَاذِبَةٌ . قَالَ
" وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ وَقَدْ قَالَتْ مَا قَالَتْ دَعْهَا عَنْكَ " .

Sunan Abi Dawud 3752
‘Uqbah b. ‘Amir said:
we said: Messenger of Allah! You send us out and we come to people who do not give hospitality, so what is your opinion? The Messenger of Allah(may peace be upon him) said: If you come to people who order for you what is fitting for a guest, accept it; but if they do not, take from them what is fitting for them to give to a guest.
Abu Dawud said: And this is an authority for a man to take a thing if it is due to him.

" إِنْ نَزَلْتُمْ بِقَوْمٍ فَأَمَرُوا لَكُمْ بِمَا يَنْبَغِي لِلضَّيْفِ فَاقْبَلُوا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا فَخُذُوا مِنْهُمْ حَقَّ الضَّيْفِ الَّذِي يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ " . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَهَذِهِ حُجَّةٌ لِلرَّجُلِ يَأْخُذُ الشَّىْءَ إِذَا كَانَ لَهُ حَقًّا .

Sunan Abi Dawud 3792
Abu Khalid b. al-Huwairith said :
‘Abd Allah b. ‘Amar was in al-safah. The narrator Muhammed (b. Khalid) said: it is a place in Mecca. A man brought a hare which he had haunted. He said: ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Amr, what do you say ? He said: It was brought to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) when I was sitting (with him). He did not eat it, nor did he prohibit to eat it. He thought that it menstruated.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي خَالِدَ بْنَ الْحُوَيْرِثِ، يَقُولُ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو كَانَ بِالصِّفَاحِ - قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ مَكَانٌ بِمَكَّةَ - وَإِنَّ رَجُلاً جَاءَ بِأَرْنَبٍ قَدْ صَادَهَا فَقَالَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو مَا تَقُولُ قَالَ قَدْ جِيءَ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْهَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْ أَكْلِهَا وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهَا تَحِيضُ .

Mishkat al-Masabih 3700
Ka'b b. ‘Ujra told that God's Messenger said to him, “I commend you to God to protect you from the ruler ship of the foolish.” He asked what that was, and God’s Messenger replied, “After my time governors will arise whose falsehood will be believed and who will be assisted in their oppression by those who enter their presence. They have nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with them, and they will never come down to me at the Pond. But they who do not enter their presence, believe their falsehood and help them in their oppression, those belong to me and I belong to them, and those ones will come down to me at the Pond.”*
Tirmidhi and Nasa’i transmitted it.
* This is the tank or pool at which believers will drink on the day of resurrection.
وَعَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أُعِيذُكَ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ إِمَارَةِ السُّفَهَاءِ» . قَالَ: وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «أُمَرَاءُ سَيَكُونُونَ مِنْ بَعْدِي مَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسُوا مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَنْ يَرِدُوا عليَّ الحوضَ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَأُولَئِكَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ وَأُولَئِكَ يَرِدُونَ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيّ

‘A’isha said :
God’s messenger came on the fourth or fifth of Dhul Hijja and came to visit me in a state of anger. I said, “Who has angered you, messenger of God? May God send him to hell!” He replied, “Are you not aware that I gave the people a command, yet they are confused? If I had known beforehand about my affair what I have come to know later, I would not have brought the sacrificial animals with me, but would have waited to buy some, and then I could have put off the ihram as they have done.”
Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَرْبَعٍ مَضَيْنَ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ أَوْ خَمْسٍ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَهُوَ غَضْبَانُ فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ أَغْضَبَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ النَّارَ. قَالَ: «أَو مَا شَعَرْتِ أَنِّي أَمَرْتُ النَّاسَ بِأَمْرٍ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ وَلَوْ أَنِّي اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ مَا سُقْتُ الْهَدْيَ مَعِي حَتَّى أَشْتَرِيَهُ ثمَّ أُحلُّ كَمَا حلُّوا» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Mishkat al-Masabih 2739
Jabir b. ‘Abdallah told of a desert Arab who had sworn allegiance to God’s messenger, but who, when he suffered from a bout of fever in Medina, came to the Prophet and said, "Cancel my oath of allegiance, Muhammad;” but God’s messenger refused. He came again with the same request and again he refused. He came once more with the same request, and when he again refused, the desert Arab went off. God’s messenger then said, "Medina is like bellows which drives away its impurity and purifies what is good in it.”

وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا بَايَعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَصَابَ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ وَعَكٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَأَتَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَقِلْنِي بَيْعَتِي فَأَبَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ: أَقِلْنِي بَيْعَتِي فَأَبَى ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ: أَقِلْنِي بَيْعَتِي فَأَبَى فَخَرَجَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّمَا الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خبثها وتنصع طيبها»

Abu Huraira said that God’s Messenger used to observe a period of silence between the takbir and the recitation of the Qur an, so he addressed him thus, “Messenger of God, for whom I would give my father and mother as ransom, what do you say during your period of silence between the takbir and the recitation?” He replied that he said, “O God, remove my sins far from me as Thou hast removed the East far from the West. O God, purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from filth. O God, wash away my sins with water, snow and hail.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يسكت بَين التَّكْبِير وَبَين الْقِرَاءَة إسكاتة قَالَ أَحْسبهُ قَالَ هنيَّة فَقلت بِأبي وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِسْكَاتُكَ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَة مَا تَقُولُ قَالَ: «أَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ بَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ اللَّهُمَّ نَقِّنِي مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْ خَطَايَايَ بِالْمَاءِ والثلج وَالْبرد»

Mishkat al-Masabih 929
Ubayy b. Ka'b said he told God’s Messenger that he frequently invoked blessings on him and asked how much of his prayer* he should devote to him. He replied that he might devote as much as he wished, and when he suggested a quarter he said, “Whatever you wish, but if you increase it that will be better for you.” He suggested a half and he replied, “Whatever you wish, but if you increase it that will be better for you.” He suggested two-thirds and he replied, “Whatever you wish, but if you increase it that will be better for you.” He then suggested devoting all his prayer to him and he replied, “Then you will be freed from care and your sin will be expiated.”
* The word used is salat. It has been explained as referring here to the petitions (du’a) offered at the end of the salat.

وَعَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أُكْثِرُ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيْكَ فَكَمْ أَجْعَلُ لَكَ مِنْ صَلَاتِي؟ فَقَالَ: «مَا شِئْتَ» قُلْتُ: الرُّبُعَ؟ قَالَ: «مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنْ زِدْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ» . قُلْتُ: النِّصْفَ؟ قَالَ: «مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنْ زِدْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ» قُلْتُ: فَالثُّلُثَيْنِ؟ قَالَ: «مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنْ زِدْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ» قُلْتُ: أَجْعَلُ لَكَ صَلَاتِي كُلَّهَا؟ قَالَ: «إِذا يكفى همك وَيكفر لَك ذَنْبك» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ

Aba Dharr reported God’s messenger as saying,
“In every ascription of glory to God, every declaration of His greatness, every utterance of praise to Him, every declaration that He is the only God, in enjoining what is reputable, in forbidding what is objectionable, and in a man’s sexual intercourse there is sadaqa.”
On being asked whether a reward would be given for satisfying one’s passion, he said,
“Tell me; if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he would have a reward.”
Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ بِكُلِّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَكُلُّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَأَمْرٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ صَدَقَةٌ وَنَهْيٌ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي بُضْعِ أَحَدِكُمْ صَدَقَةٌ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيَأْتِي أَحَدُنَا شَهْوَتَهُ وَيَكُونُ لَهُ فِيهَا أَجْرٌ؟ قَالَ: «أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ وَضَعَهَا فِي حَرَامٍ أَكَانَ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ وِزْرٌ؟ فَكَذَلِكَ إِذَا وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَلَالِ كَانَ لَهُ أجر» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Abu Rafi' said:
Quraish sent me to God’s Messenger and when I saw him Islam was cast into my heart, so I said, "Messenger of God, I swear by God that I shall never return to them.” He replied, "I do not break a covenant or imprison messengers; but return, and if you feel the same as you do just now, come back.” So I went away and then came to the Prophet and accepted Islam.

وَعَن أبي رافعٍ قَالَ: بعثَني قُرَيْشٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُلْقِيَ فِي قَلْبِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لَا أَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ أَبَدًا قَالَ: «إِنِّي لَا أَخِيسُ بِالْعَهْدِ وَلَا أَحْبِسُ الْبُرُدَ وَلَكِنِ ارْجِعْ فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي نَفْسِكَ الَّذِي فِي نَفْسِكَ الْآنَ فَارْجِعْ» . قَالَ: فَذَهَبْتُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم فَأسْلمت. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد

Mishkat al-Masabih 5664
Jabir reported the Prophet as saying, "While the inhabitants of paradise are in their bliss a light will shine out to them, and raising their heads they will see that their Lord has looked down on them from above. He will then say, `Peace be to you, inhabitants of paradise,' the proof of that being the words of God most high, `Peace, a word from a merciful Lord[*].' He will then look at them and they will look at Him, and they will not turn aside to any of their bliss as long as they are looking at Him till He veils Himself from them and His light remains."

Ibn Majah transmitted it.
وَعَنْ جَابِرٌ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
" بَيْنَا أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ فِي نَعِيمِهِمْ إِذْ سَطَعَ نورٌ فَرفعُوا رؤوسَهم فَإِذَا الرَّبُّ قَدْ أَشْرَفَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ فَقَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ: وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى (سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِنْ رَبٍّ رحيمٍ)
قَالَ: فَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ فَلَا يَلْتَفِتُونَ إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنَ النَّعِيمِ مَا دَامُوا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى يَحْتَجِبَ عَنْهُمْ وَيَبْقَى نُورُهُ وَبَرَكَتُهُ عَلَيْهِم فِي دِيَارهمْ ". رَوَاهُ ابْن مَاجَه

Mishkat al-Masabih 5754
Khabbab b. al-Aratt said:
God's messenger led us in prayer and prolonged it, and when the people said, "Messenger of God, you have prayed a prayer such as you have not been accustomed to pray," he replied, "Yes, it was a prayer of hope and fear during which I asked God for three things, two of which He granted me but one of which He refused me. I asked Him not to destroy my people by famine and He granted me that, I asked Him not to let an enemy from another people rule over them and He granted me that, and I asked Him not to let them experience one another's violence but He refused me that."
Tirmidhi and Nasa'i transmitted it.
عَن خبَّابِ بنِ الأرتِّ قَالَ: صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ فَأَطَالَهَا. قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ الله صلَّيتَ صَلَاةً لَمْ تَكُنْ تُصَلِّيهَا قَالَ: «أَجَلْ إِنَّهَا صَلَاةُ رَغْبَةٍ وَرَهْبَةٍ وَإِنِّي سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ فِيهَا ثَلَاثًا فَأَعْطَانِي اثْنَتَيْنِ وَمَنَعَنِي وَاحِدَةً سَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ لَا يُهْلِكَ أُمَّتِي بِسَنَةٍ فَأَعْطَانِيهَا وَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ لَا يُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَأَعْطَانِيهَا وَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ لَا يُذِيقَ بَعْضَهُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ فمنعَنيها» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَالنَّسَائِيّ

Mishkat al-Masabih 5843
Jabir said he heard God's messenger telling about the intermission in the inspiration as follows:
"While I was walking I heard a voice from the sky, and raising my eyes I saw the angel who had come to me on Hira sitting on a throne between heaven and earth. I was terror stricken on that account so that I fell to the ground. I then went to my family and said, `Wrap me up, wrap me up.' They wrapped me up, and then God most high sent down, `You who are shrouded, arise and deliver warning, your Lord magnify, your clothes cleanse, and defilement shun. * The inspiration then became hot and followed continuously."

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْيِ قَالَ:
" فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَمْشِي سَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَفَعْتُ بَصَرِي فَإِذَا الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي جَاءَنِي بِحِرَاءٍ قَاعِدٌ عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَجُئِثْتُ مِنْهُ رُعْبًا حَتَّى هَوَيْتُ إِلَى الأرضِ فجئتُ أَهلِي فقلتُ: زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي فَأنْزل اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: [يَا أيُّها الْمُدَّثِّرُ. قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ. وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ. وَالرجز فاهجر] ثمَّ حمي الْوَحْي وتتابع ". مُتَّفق عَلَيْهِ

Mishkat al-Masabih 5924
Anas told that Gabriel came to the Prophet when he was sitting grieved, smeared with blood as a result of what the people of Mecca had done[*], and said, "Messenger of God, would you like me to show you a sign?" When he agreed, Gabriel looked at a tree behind him and said, "Call it." He did so, and it came and stood in front of him. He then said, "Order it to go back," and when he had done so and it had gone back God's messenger said, "That is enough for me, that is enough for me."
*Mirqat, v, 474, relates this to the injuries the Prophet suffered at the battle of Uhud
Darimi transmitted it.
وَعَن أنس بن مَالك قَالَ جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ جَالس حَزِين وَقد تخضب بِالدَّمِ من فعل أهل مَكَّة من قُرَيْش فَقَالَ جِبْرِيل يَا رَسُول الله هَل تحب أَن أريك آيَةً قَالَ نَعَمْ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى شَجَرَةٍ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ فَقَالَ ادْعُ بِهَا فَدَعَا بِهَا فَجَاءَتْ وَقَامَت بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ مُرْهَا فَلْتَرْجِعْ فَأَمَرَهَا فَرَجَعَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حسبي حسبي. رَوَاهُ الدَّارمِيّ

Mishkat al-Masabih 5583
In a version by him on the authority of Abu Sa'id there is something to the same effect, but he did not mention that He will say, "What will bring an end to your making requests of me ..." to the end of the tradition. In it he added that God will teach him saying, "Ask such and such," and when his wishes come to an end God most high will say, "You can have it and ten times as much." He said that he will then enter his house and his two wives from the large-eyed maidens will come in to him and say, "Praise be to God who has created you for us and us for you." He will then say, "No one has been given anything like what I have."
وَفِي رِوَايَة لَهُ عَن أبي سعيدٍ نَحْوَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ " فَيَقُولُ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ مَا يَصْرِينِي مِنْكَ؟ " إِلَى آخِرِ الْحَدِيثِ وَزَادَ فِيهِ: " وَيَذْكُرُهُ اللَّهُ: سَلْ كَذَا وَكَذَا حَتَّى إِذَا انْقَطَعَتْ بِهِ الْأَمَانِيُّ قَالَ اللَّهُ: هُوَ لَكَ وَعَشَرَةُ أَمْثَالِهِ قَالَ: ثُمَّ يَدْخُلُ بَيْتَهُ فَتَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ زَوْجَتَاهُ مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ فَيَقُولَانِ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَاكَ لَنَا وَأَحْيَانَا لَكَ. قَالَ: فَيَقُولُ: مَا أَعْطَى أَحَدٌ مثلَ مَا أَعْطَيْت "

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 35
Abu Usayd said, "We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless
him and grant him peace, when a man asked, 'Messenger of Allah, is there
any act of dutifulness which I can do for my parents after their death?'
He replied, 'Yes. There are four things:
Supplication for them, asking
forgiveness for them, fulfilling their pledges, and being generous to friends
of theirs. You only have ties of kinship through your parents."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْغَسِيلِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أُسَيْدٍ يُحَدِّثُ الْقَوْمَ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَلْ بَقِيَ مِنْ بِرِّ أَبَوَيَّ شَيْءٌ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِمَا أَبَرُّهُمَا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، خِصَالٌ أَرْبَعٌ: الدُّعَاءُ لَهُمَا، وَالِاسْتِغْفَارُ لَهُمَا، وَإِنْفَاذُ عَهْدِهِمَا، وَإِكْرَامُ صَدِيقِهِمَا، وَصِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ الَّتِي لاَ رَحِمَ لَكَ إِلاَّ مِنْ قِبَلِهِمَا.

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 111
Ibn 'Umar said, "There was a time when no one was more entitled to a
person's money than his Muslim brother. Now people love their dirhams and
dinars more than their Muslim brother. I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless
him and grant him peace, say, 'How many a neighbour will be brought together
with his neighbour on the Day of Rising! He will say, "Lord, this man closed
his door to me and refused to show me common kindness!"'"
حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلاَمِ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: لَقَدْ أَتَى عَلَيْنَا زَمَانٌ، أَوْ قَالَ: حِينٌ، وَمَا أَحَدٌ أَحَقُّ بِدِينَارِهِ وَدِرْهَمِهِ مِنْ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ، ثُمَّ الْآنَ الدِّينَارُ وَالدِّرْهَمُ أَحَبُّ إِلَى أَحَدِنَا مِنْ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ، سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ: كَمْ مِنْ جَارٍ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِجَارِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ، هَذَا أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونِي، فَمَنَعَ مَعْرُوفَهُ.

Jabir ibn 'Abdullah said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, say, 'If anyone has three of his children
die young and resigns them to Allah, he will enter the Garden.' We said,
'Messenger of Allah, what about two?' 'And two,' he said." Mahmud ibn Labid
said to Jabir, "By Allah, I think that if you had asked, 'And one?' he would
have given a similar answer." He said, "By Allah, I think so too."
حَدَّثَنَا عَيَّاشٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ: مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ ثَلاَثَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ فَاحْتَسَبَهُمْ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ، قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَاثْنَانِ؟ قَالَ: وَاثْنَانِ، قُلْتُ لِجَابِرٍ: وَاللَّهِ، أَرَى لَوْ قُلْتُمْ وَاحِدٌ لَقَالَ. قَالَ: وَأَنَا أَظُنُّهُ وَاللَّهِ.

Abu Hurayra said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, went out to a group of his Companions who were laughing and talking.
He said, 'By the One in whose hand my soul is, if you knew what I knew,
you would laugh little and weep much.' Then he left and the people were
weeping. Then Allah Almighty revealed to him, 'Muhammad! Why did you make
My slaves despair?' The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
said, "Give good news, guide people and draw near to one another.'"
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى رَهْطٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يَضْحَكُونَ وَيَتَحَدَّثُونَ، فَقَالَ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلاً، وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَأَبْكَى الْقَوْمَ، وَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَيْهِ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، لِمَ تُقَنِّطُ عِبَادِي؟، فَرَجَعَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ: أَبْشِرُوا، وَسَدِّدُوا، وَقَارِبُوا.

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 311
'A'isha reported that some Jews came to the Prophet, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, and said, "Poison ('sam' instead
of 'salam') be upon you." 'A'isha said, "And upon you and may the
curse of Allah and the anger of Allah be upon you!" The Prophet said, "Easy,
'A'isha, you must be gentle. Beware of harshness and coarseness." She asked,
"Didn't you hear what they said?" He said, "Didn't you hear what I said?
I repeated it to them and what I said about them will be accepted and what
they said about me will not be accepted."
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، أَنَّ يَهُودًا أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالُوا: السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: وَعَلَيْكُمْ، وَلَعَنَكُمُ اللَّهُ، وَغَضِبُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ، قَالَ: مَهْلاً يَا عَائِشَةُ، عَلَيْكِ بِالرِّفْقِ، وَإِيَّاكِ وَالْعُنْفَ وَالْفُحْشَ، قَالَتْ: أَوَ لَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالُوا؟ قَالَ: أَوَ لَمْ تَسْمَعِي مَا قُلْتُ؟ رَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَيُسْتَجَابُ لِي فِيهِمْ، وَلاَ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُمْ فِيَّ.

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 382
'Abdullah reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, stopped in a place and then someone took a bird's eggs and the
bird began to beat its wings around the head of the Messenger of Allah,
may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He asked, "Which of you has taken
its eggs?" A man said, "Messenger of Allah, I have taken its eggs." The
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Return
them out off mercy to the bird."
حَدَّثَنَا طَلْقُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَزَلَ مَنْزِلاً فَأَخَذَ رَجُلٌ بَيْضَ حُمَّرَةٍ، فَجَاءَتْ تَرِفُّ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ: أَيُّكُمْ فَجَعَ هَذِهِ بِبَيْضَتِهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَنَا أَخَذْتُ بَيْضَتَهَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: ارْدُدْ، رَحْمَةً لَهَا.

Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, said, "No believer turns his face to Allah and asks Him
for something but that He gives it to him, either by giving it to him sooner
in this world or storing it up for him in the Next World, as long as he
does not try to make it come quickly." They asked, "Messenger of Allah,
what does 'making it come quickly' mean?" He said, "He says, 'I asked and
asked and do not think that I will be answered.'"
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شَيْبَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي الْفُدَيْكِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يَنْصُبُ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللهِ يَسْأَلُهُ مَسْأَلَةً، إِلاَّ أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهَا، إِمَّا عَجَّلَهَا لَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَإِمَّا ذَخَرَهَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا عَجَلَتُهُ؟ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: دَعَوْتُ وَدَعَوْتُ، وَلاَ أُرَاهُ يُسْتَجَابُ لِي.

Anas ibn Malik said, "A man said, 'Messenger of Allah, we were
in a house and there were a large number of us and we had a lot of property
in it. Then we moved to another house and our numbers decreased and our
property became less in it (the new house).' The Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Go back to it (the first house)
or leave it (the second house) - it is bad.'"
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي أَبَا قُدَامَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا كُنَّا فِي دَارٍ كَثُرَ فِيهَا عَدَدُنَا، وَكَثُرَ فِيهَا أَمْوَالُنَا، فَتَحَوَّلْنَا إِلَى دَارٍ أُخْرَى، فَقَلَّ فِيهَا عَدَدُنَا، وَقَلَّتْ فِيهَا أَمْوَالُنَا؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: رُدَّهَا، أَوْ دَعُوهَا، وَهِيَ ذَمِيمَةٌ.

Abu Hurayra said, "We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah,
may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a man sneezed and praised
Allah. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
said to him, 'May Allah have mercy on you.' Then another man sneezed but
the Prophet did not say anything to him. The man, 'Messenger of Allah!
you responded to the other man, but did not say anything to me!' The Prophet
replied, 'He praised Allah and you were silent.'"
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُنَيْنٍ وَهُوَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَعَطَسَ رَجُلٌ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ، ثُمَّ عَطَسَ آخَرُ، فَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَهُ شَيْئًا، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، رَدَدْتَ عَلَى الْآخَرِ، وَلَمْ تَقُلْ لِي شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ: إِنَّهُ حَمِدَ اللَّهَ، وَسَكَتَّ.

Abu Abdul Malik, the mawla of Umm Miskin, the daughter of ('Umar) ibn
'Asim ibn 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, said, "My mistress sent me to Abu Hurayra
and he came with me. When he was at the door, he asked in Persian, 'Can
we come in?' 'Come in!' she replied.' Then she said, 'Abu Hurayra, if visitors
come to me after 'Isha', should I enter into conversation with them?' He
replied, 'Converse as long as you have not done the witr prayer. If you
have done the witr, there is no conversation after it.'"

'A'isha bint Talha said, "I spoke to 'A'isha when I was under
her protection. people used to visit her from all places. Shaykhs used
visit me because of my place with her. Young men used to treat me as a
sister and give me presents and write to me from their cities. I said to
'A'isha, 'Aunt, this is a letter from so-and-so and his gift.' 'A'isha
told me, 'My girl, answer him and reward him. If you do not have anything
to give, I will give you something.' She told her to give it to her."

Maymun (ibn Mahran) said, "I asked Nafi', 'Did Ibn 'Umar ever
invite people to a banquet?' He said, 'A camel of his once broke something
and so we sacrificed it. Then Ibn 'Umar said, "Gather the people of Madina
for me." I said, "Abu 'Abdu'r-Rahman, for what? We do not have any bread."
He said, "O Allah, praise belongs to You. These are bits of meat and this
is broth," or he said, "Broth and meat chunks. Whoever wishes can eat and
whoever wishes can leave it."'"
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مَيْمُونًا يَعْنِي ابْنَ مِهْرَانَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ نَافِعًا: هَلْ كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَدْعُو لِلْمَأْدُبَةِ؟ قَالَ: لَكِنَّهُ انْكَسَرَ لَهُ بَعِيرٌ مَرَّةً فَنَحَرْنَاهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: احْشُرْ عَلَيَّ الْمَدِينَةَ، قَالَ نَافِعٌ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ؟ لَيْسَ عِنْدَنَا خُبْزٌ، فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، هَذَا عُرَاقٌ، وَهَذَا مَرَقٌ، أَوْ قَالَ: مَرَقٌ وَبَضْعٌ، فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَكَلَ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ وَدَعَ.

Bulugh al-Maram 715
lbn ’Abbas (RAA) narrated that ‘Al-Fadl Ibn ’Abbas was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) when a woman from the tribe of Khath‘am came along, and al-Fadl started looking at her and she also started looking at him. The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) kept on turning al-Fadl’s face to the other side. She said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Allah has prescribed Hajj for His servants, and it has become due on my father who is an old man, who cannot sit stable on his mount. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf?’ The Prophet (P.B.U.H.) replied, “Yes, you may." This incident took place during the Farewell Pilgrimage of the Prophet (P.B.U.H.). Agreed upon, and the wording is from Al·Bukhari’.
وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: { كَانَ اَلْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -. فَجَاءَتِ اِمْرَأَةٌ مَنْ خَثْعَمَ، فَجَعَلَ اَلْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَتَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ، وَجَعَلَ اَلنَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَ اَلْفَضْلِ إِلَى اَلشِّقِّ اَلْآخَرِ. فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ, إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اَللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي اَلْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا, لَا يَثْبُتُ عَلَى اَلرَّاحِلَةِ, أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ? قَالَ:
" نَعَمْ " وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ اَلْوَدَاعِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, وَاللَفْظُ لِلْبُخَارِيِّ 1 .

Sa'id bin Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (RAA) narrated, 'A small weak man was staying in our tribe, and he committed adultery with one of their slave-women. Sa'd mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and thereupon he said, "Flog him (according to) the prescribed penalty." The people then said, 'O Messenger of Allah! He is too weak to bear it.' The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) then said, "Get a stalk of the raceme of a palm tree with a hundred twigs and strike him just once." So, they did. Related by Ahmad, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah with a good chain of narrators.
وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عِبَادَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { كَانَ بَيْنَ أَبْيَاتِنَا رُوَيْجِلٌ ضَعِيفٌ, فَخَبَثَ بِأَمَةٍ مِنْ إِمَائِهِمْ, فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ سَعْدٌ لِرَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَقَالَ: "اِضْرِبُوهُ حَدَّهُ". فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ! إِنَّهُ أَضْعَفُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ, فَقَالَ: "خُذُوا عِثْكَالًا فِيهِ مِائَةُ شِمْرَاخٍ, ثُمَّ اِضْرِبُوهُ بِهِ ضَرْبَةً وَاحِدَةً". فَفَعَلُوا } رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ, وَالنَّسَائِيُّ, وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ, وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ . لَكِنْ اخْتُلِفَ فِي وَصْلِهِ وَإِرْسَالِهِ 1 .

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA):
A man came to the Prophet (SAW) and said, "I have a Dinar." He said, "Spend it on yourself." He said, "I have another." He replied, "Spend it on your children." He said, "I have another." He replied, "Spend it on your wife." He said, "I have another." He replied, "Spend it on your servant." He said, "I have another." He replied, "You know best (what to do with it)."
[ash-Shafi'i and Abu Dawud reported it, and the wording is Abu Dawud's. an-Nasa'i and al-Hakim reported it with the wife preceding the children].
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى اَلنَّبِيِّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ! عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ? قَالَ: "أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ". قَالَ: عِنْدِي آخَرُ? قَالَ: "أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى وَلَدِكَ". قَالَ: عِنْدِي آخَرُ? قَالَ: "أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ". قَالَ: عِنْدِي آخَرُ, قَالَ: "أَنْفِقُهُ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ". قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ, قَالَ: "أَنْتَ أَعْلَمَ". } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلشَّافِعِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ, وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَأَخْرَجَهُ النَّسَائِيُّ وَالْحَاكِمُ بِتَقْدِيمِ 1 . اَلزَّوْجَةِ عَلَى اَلْوَلَدِ 2 .

Narrated Anas bin Malik (RA):
When prices were high in al-Madinah in the time of Allah's Messenger (SAW), the people said, "O Allah's Messenger, prices have become high, so fix them for us." Allah's Messenger (SAW) replied, Allah is the One Who fixes prices, Who withholds, gives lavishly and provides. And I hope that when I meet Allah, the Most High, none of you will have any claim on me for an injustice regarding blood or property."
[Reported by al-Khamsah excluding an-Nasa'i; Ibn Hibban graded it Sahih (authentic)].
وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { غَلَا اَلسِّعْرُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَقَالَ اَلنَّاسُ: يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ! غَلَا اَلسِّعْرُ, فَسَعِّرْ لَنَا, فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -إِنَّ اَللَّهَ هُوَ اَلْمُسَعِّرُ, اَلْقَابِضُ, اَلْبَاسِطُ, الرَّازِقُ, وَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَلْقَى اَللَّهَ -تَعَالَى-, وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ يَطْلُبُنِي بِمَظْلِمَةٍ فِي 1 دَمٍ وَلَا مَالٍ " } رَوَاهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ إِلَّا النَّسَائِيَّ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ حِبَّانَ 2 .

Hadith 22, 40 Hadith Qudsi
On the authority of Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
Let not any one of you belittle himself. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how can any one of us belittle himself? He said: He finds a matter concerning Allah about which he should say something, and he does not say [it], so Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says to him on the Day of Resurrection: What prevented you from saying something about such-and-such and such-and-such? He say: [It was] out of fear of people. Then He says: Rather it is I whom you should more properly fear.
It was related by Ibn Majah with a sound chain of authorities.
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
" لَا يَحْقِرْ أَحَدُكُمْ نَفْسَهُ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ يَحْقِرُ أَحَدُنَا نَفْسَهُ؟ قَالَ: يَرَى أَمْرَ الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ مَقَالٌ، ثُمَّ لَا يَقُولُ فِيهِ، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ: مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَقُولَ فِي كَذَا وَكَذَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: خَشْيَةُ النَّاسِ، فَيَقُولُ: فَإِيَّايَ كُنْتَ أَحَقَّ أَنْ تَخْشَى"

It was narrated that azZubair bin al-`Awwam (رضي الله عنه) said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recite this verse when he was in ‘Arafah: `Allah bears witness that La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), and the angels, and those having knowledge (also give this witness); (He always) maintains His creation in justice. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise” (Surah AI-‘Imran [3:18]). And I am one of the witnesses to that, O Lord.”

Mishkat al-Masabih 451
Abu Huraira said:
God’s messenger met me when I was sexually defiled, took my hand and I walked with him. When he sat down I withdrew, and after I had gone home and washed I came back and found the Prophet still seated. He asked, “Where have you been, Abu Huraira?” I told him, and he said, “Glory be to God! The believer does not become impure.”
This is Bukhari's wording and Muslim has something to the same effect, but after “I told him” he adds: I said to him, “You met me when I was sexually defiled, and I did not like to sit with you till I had washed.” Bukhari has the same in another version.
عَن أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: لَقِيَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا جُنُبٌ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فمشيت مَعَهُ حَتَّى قَعَدَ فَانْسَلَلْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ الرَّحْلَ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ فَقَالَ: «أَيْنَ كُنْتَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَة» فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فَقَالَ: «سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَا يَنْجَسُ» . هَذَا لَفْظُ الْبُخَارِيِّ وَلِمُسْلِمٍ مَعْنَاهُ وَزَادَ بَعْدَ قَوْلِهِ: فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: لَقَدْ لَقِيتَنِي وَأَنَا جُنُبٌ فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُجَالِسَكَ حَتَّى أَغْتَسِلَ. وَكَذَا البُخَارِيّ فِي رِوَايَة أُخْرَى

Mishkat al-Masabih 482
Kabsha daughter of Ka‘b b. Malik and wife of Ibn Abu Qatada said that Abu Qatada visited her and she poured out water for him for ablution. A cat came and drank some of it, and he tilted the vessel for it till it had had a drink. Kabsha said that when he saw her looking at him he asked, “Are you surprised, my niece?” When she replied that she was, he declared that God’s messenger said, “It is not unclean;
it is one of those [male or female] who go round among you.”
Malik, Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it.
وَعَن كَبْشَة بنت كَعْب بن مَالك وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ ابْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ: أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَة دخل فَسَكَبَتْ لَهُ وَضُوءًا فَجَاءَتْ هِرَّةٌ تَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ فَأَصْغَى لَهَا الْإِنَاءَ حَتَّى شَرِبَتْ قَالَتْ كَبْشَةُ فَرَآنِي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أَتَعْجَبِينَ يَا ابْنَةَ أخي فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّهَا لَيست بِنَجس إِنَّهَا من الطوافين عَلَيْكُم والطوافات» . رَوَاهُ مَالِكٌ وَأَحْمَدُ وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ

Mishkat al-Masabih 2080
Zuhri reported on ‘Urwa’s authority that ‘A'isha said:
When Hafsa and I were fasting we were offered food which we liked very much and ate some of it. Hafsa told God’s messenger of this, and he said, “Make up for it by fasting on another day.”
Tirmidhi transmitted it, but he mentioned a number of huffaz* who transmitted on the authority of Zuhri on the authority of ‘A'isha in mursal form, omitting to mention ‘Urwa’s authority, and this is sounder. Abu Dawud transmitted it from Zumail the client of ‘Urwa from ‘Urwa from ‘A'isha.
*Traditionists who have a reputation for their accurate memory.
وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَنَا وَحَفْصَةُ صَائِمَتَيْنِ فَعَرَضَ لَنَا طَعَامٌ اشْتَهَيْنَاهُ فَأَكَلَنَا مِنْهُ فَقَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا صَائِمَتَيْنِ فَعُرِضَ لَنَا طَعَامٌ اشْتَهَيْنَاهُ فَأَكَلَنَا مِنْهُ. قَالَ: «اقْضِيَا يَوْمًا آخَرَ مَكَانَهُ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَذَكَرَ جَمَاعَةً مِنَ الْحُفَّاظِ رَوَوْا عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ مُرْسَلًا وَلَمْ يذكرُوا فِيهِ عَن عُرْوَة وَهَذَا أصح

Mishkat al-Masabih 1538
‘Abdallah b. Mas'ud said:
I went in to visit the Prophet when he was jaded by fever, and touching him with my hand, I said, “You are seriously jaded by fever, messenger of God.” The Prophet replied, “Yes, I am twice as jaded as any of you.” I said, “That is because you have a double reward.” He replied that that was so and then said, “No Muslim is afflicted by injury, be it illness or something else, without God thereby causing his sins to drop away just as a tree sheds its leaves.”

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ فَمَسِسْتُهُ بِيَدِي فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَتُوعَكُ وَعْكًا شَدِيدًا. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَجَلْ إِنِّي أُوعَكُ كَمَا يُوعَكُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْكُمْ» . قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: ذَلِكَ لِأَنَّ لَكَ أَجْرَيْنِ؟ فَقَالَ: «أَجَلْ» . ثُمَّ قَالَ: «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًى مِنْ مَرَضٍ فَمَا سِوَاهُ إِلَّا حَطَّ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى بِهِ سَيِّئَاتِهِ كَمَا تَحُطُّ الشَّجَرَةُ وَرَقَهَا»

Mishkat al-Masabih 3532
Rafi‘ b. Khadij said that one of the Ansar was killed at Khaibar and his relatives went to the Prophet and mentioned that to him. He asked, “Have you two witnesses who can testify to the murderer of your friend?" They replied, “Messenger of God, there was not a single Muslim present, but only Jews who sometimes have the audacity to do even greater crimes than this “He said, “Then choose fifty of them and demand that they take an oath;" but they refused and God’s Messenger paid his blood wit himself.
Abu Dawud transmitted it.
عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ: أَصْبَحَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَقْتُولًا بِخَيْبَرَ فَانْطَلَقَ أَوْلِيَاؤُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ: «أَلَكُمْ شَاهِدَانِ يَشْهَدَانِ عَلَى قَاتِلِ صَاحِبِكُمْ؟» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ ثَمَّ أحدٌ من المسلمينَ وإِنما هُوَ يهود وَقد يجترئون عَلَى أَعْظَمَ مِنْ هَذَا قَالَ: «فَاخْتَارُوا مِنْهُمْ خَمْسِينَ فَاسْتَحْلِفُوهُمْ» . فَأَبَوْا فَوَدَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد

Mishkat al-Masabih 3639
Jabir told of a man who came from the Yemen and asked the Prophet about a liquor made from millet called mizr which they drank in their country. The Prophet asked whether it was intoxicating and when he replied that it was, he said, “Every intoxicant is prohibited. God has made a covenant regarding those who drink intoxicants to give them some tinat al-khabal to drink.” He was asked what that was and replied that it was the sweat of the inhabitants of hell, or the discharge of the inhabitants of hell.
Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَدِمَ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ شَرَابٍ يَشْرَبُونَهُ بِأَرْضِهِمْ مِنَ الذُّرَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْمِزْرُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أوَ مُسْكِرٌ هُوَ؟» قَالَ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ إِنَّ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَهْدًا لِمَنْ يَشْرَبُ الْمُسْكِرَ أَنْ يَسْقِيَهُ مِنْ طِينَةِ الْخَبَالِ» . قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا طِينَةُ الْخَبَالِ؟ قَالَ: «عَرَقُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ أَوْ عُصَارَةُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Mishkat al-Masabih 3738
‘Ali said:
God's Messenger sent me to the Yemen as qadi and I said, “Messenger of God, are you sending me when I am young and have no knowledge of the duties of qadi He replied, “God will guide your heart and keep your tongue true. When two men bring a case before you do not decide in favour of the first till you hear what the other has to say, for it is best that you should have a clear idea of the best decision." He said he had no doubts about a decision afterwards.
Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah transmitted it.
عَن عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ قَاضِيًا فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تُرْسِلُنِي وَأَنَا حَدِيثُ السِّنِّ وَلَا عِلْمَ لِي بِالْقَضَاءِ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيَهْدِي قَلْبَكَ وَيُثَبِّتُ لِسَانَكَ إِذَا تَقَاضَى إِلَيْكَ رَجُلَانِ فَلَا تَقْضِ لِلْأَوَّلِ حَتَّى تَسْمَعَ كَلَامَ الْآخَرِ فَإِنَّهُ أَحْرَى أَنْ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الْقَضَاءُ» . قَالَ: فَمَا شَكَكْتُ فِي قَضَاءٍ بَعْدُ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ

Abu Huraira reported:
One day the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) led the prayer. Then turning (towards his Companions) he said: O you man, why don't you say your prayer well? Does the observer of prayer not see how he is performing the prayer, for he performs it for himself? By Allah, I see behind me as I see in front of me.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَثِيرٍ - حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمًا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ
" يَا فُلاَنُ أَلاَ تُحْسِنُ صَلاَتَكَ أَلاَ يَنْظُرُ الْمُصَلِّي إِذَا صَلَّى كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَإِنَّمَا يُصَلِّي لِنَفْسِهِ إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأُبْصِرُ مَنْ وَرَائِي كَمَا أُبْصِرُ مَنْ بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ " .

'Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said prayer and he omitted or committed (something). Ibrahim (one of the narrators of this hadith) said: It is my doubt, and it was said: Messenger of Allah, has there been any addition to the prayer? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Verily I am a human being like you. I forget just as you forget so when any one of you forgets, he must perform two prostrations, and he (the Holy Prophet) was sitting and then the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) turned (his face towards the Qibla) and performed two prostrations.
وَحَدَّثَنَا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ التَّمِيمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَزَادَ أَوْ نَقَصَ - قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَالْوَهْمُ مِنِّي - فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَزِيدَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ شَىْءٌ فَقَالَ
" إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ أَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ فَإِذَا نَسِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ " . ثُمَّ تَحَوَّلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ .

Imran b. Husain reported:
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said three rak'ahs of the 'Asr prayer and then got up and went to his apartment. A man possessing large arms stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, bias the player been shortened? He came out angrily, and said the rak'ah which he had omitted and then gave salutation. then performed two prostrations of forgetfulness and then gave salutation.
وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، - وَهُوَ الْحَذَّاءُ - عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، قَالَ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي ثَلاَثِ رَكَعَاتٍ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَخَلَ الْحُجْرَةَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ بَسِيطُ الْيَدَيْنِ فَقَالَ أَقُصِرَتِ الصَّلاَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . فَخَرَجَ مُغْضَبًا فَصَلَّى الرَّكْعَةَ الَّتِي كَانَ تَرَكَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَىِ السَّهْوِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ .

Abu Huraira reported:
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The Fire made a complaint before the Lord saying." O Lord, some parts of mine have consumed the others." So it was allowed to take two exhalations, one exhalation in winter and the other exhalation in summer. That is why you find extreme heat (in summer) and extreme cold (in winter).
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادٍ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، - وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَرْمَلَةَ - أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" اشْتَكَتِ النَّارُ إِلَى رَبِّهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَبِّ أَكَلَ بَعْضِي بَعْضًا . فَأَذِنَ لَهَا بِنَفَسَيْنِ نَفَسٍ فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَنَفَسٍ فِي الصَّيْفِ فَهُوَ أَشَدُّ مَا تَجِدُونَ مِنَ الْحَرِّ وَأَشَدُّ مَا تَجِدُونَ مِنَ الزَّمْهَرِيرِ " .

Abu Umama b. Sahl reported:
We offered the noon prayer with Umar b. 'Abd al-'Aziz. We then set out till we came to Anas b. Malik and found him busy in saying the afternoon prayer. I said to him: O uncle! which is this prayer that you are offering? He said: It is the afternoon prayer and this is the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) that we offered along with him.
وَحَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ بْنَ سَهْلٍ، يَقُولُ صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ فَوَجَدْنَاهُ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَمِّ مَا هَذِهِ الصَّلاَةُ الَّتِي صَلَّيْتَ قَالَ الْعَصْرُ وَهَذِهِ صَلاَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله تعالى عليه وسلم الَّتِي كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَهُ .

Abu Wa'il reported:
'Ammar delivered to us the sermon. It was short and eloquent. When he (, Ammir) descended (from the pulpit) we said to him: 0 Abd al-Yaqzn, you have delivered a short and eloquent sermon. Would that you had lengthened (the sermon). He said: I have heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: The lengthening of prayer by a man and the shortness of the sermon is the sign of his understanding (of faith). So lengthen the prayer and shorten the sermon, for there is charm (in precise) expression.
حَدَّثَنِي سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبْجَرَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ وَاصِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ، قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو وَائِلٍ خَطَبَنَا عَمَّارٌ فَأَوْجَزَ وَأَبْلَغَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قُلْنَا يَا أَبَا الْيَقْظَانِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتَ وَأَوْجَزْتَ فَلَوْ كُنْتَ تَنَفَّسْتَ . فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ
" إِنَّ طُولَ صَلاَةِ الرَّجُلِ وَقِصَرَ خُطْبَتِهِ مَئِنَّةٌ مِنْ فِقْهِهِ فَأَطِيلُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَاقْصُرُوا الْخُطْبَةَ وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا " .

Anas reported that when this verse was tevealed:
" You will not attain righteousness till you give freely of what you love," Abu Talha said: I see that our Lord has demanded from us out of our property; so I make you a witness, Messenger of Allah. that I give my land known as Bairaha' for the sake of Allah. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Give that to your relatives. So he gave it to Hassan b. Thabit and Ubayy b. Ka'b.
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ { لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ} قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أُرَى رَبَّنَا يَسْأَلُنَا مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا فَأُشْهِدُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنِّي قَدْ جَعَلْتُ أَرْضِي بَرِيحَا لِلَّهِ . قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اجْعَلْهَا فِي قَرَابَتِكَ " . قَالَ فَجَعَلَهَا فِي حَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَأُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ .

Abu Huraira reported that a person came to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said:
Messenger of Allah, which charity is the greatest in reward? (The Holy Prophet said): By your father, beware, you should give charity (in a state when you are) healthy and close-fisted, haunted by the fear of poverty, and still hoping to live (as rich). And you must not defer charity (to the time) when you are about to die, and would then say:" This is for so and so, and this for so and so." It has already become the possession of so and so.
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَابْنُ، نُمَيْرٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَىُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا فَقَالَ
" أَمَا وَأَبِيكَ لَتُنَبَّأَنَّهُ أَنْ تَصَدَّقَ وَأَنْتَ صَحِيحٌ شَحِيحٌ تَخْشَى الْفَقْرَ وَتَأْمُلُ الْبَقَاءَ وَلاَ تُمْهِلْ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ قُلْتَ لِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا وَلِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا وَقَدْ كَانَ لِفُلاَنٍ " .

Umar b. Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) distributed something. Upon this I said:
Messenger of Allah, I swear by God, the others besides them were more deserving than these (to whom you gave charity). He said: They had in fact left no other alternative for me. but (that they should) either beg importunately from me or they would regard me as a miser, but I am not a miser.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ، بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رضى الله عنه قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَسْمًا فَقُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَغَيْرُ هَؤُلاَءِ كَانَ أَحَقَّ بِهِ مِنْهُمْ . قَالَ
" إِنَّهُمْ خَيَّرُونِي أَنْ يَسْأَلُونِي بِالْفُحْشِ أَوْ يُبَخِّلُونِي فَلَسْتُ بِبَاخِلٍ " .

Sahih Muslim 1058 a
Miswar b. Makhrama reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) distributed some cloaks but did not bestow one upon Makhrama. Upon this Makhrama said:
O my son, come along with me to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). So I went with him. He said: Enter the house and call him (to come out) for me. So I called him and he (the Holy Prophet) came out, and there was a cloak (from those already distributed) on him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: I had kept it for you. He (Makhrama), looked at it and was pleased.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَقْبِيَةً وَلَمْ يُعْطِ مَخْرَمَةَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ مَخْرَمَةُ يَا بُنَىَّ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ قَالَ ادْخُلْ فَادْعُهُ لِي . قَالَ فَدَعَوْتُهُ لَهُ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَبَاءٌ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ " خَبَأْتُ هَذَا لَكَ " . قَالَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ " رَضِيَ مَخْرَمَةُ " .

Sahih Muslim 1073 a
Juwayriya, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)" said that Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came to her and said:
Is there anything to eat? She said: Messenger of Allah, I swear by God, there is no food with us except a bone of goat which my freed maid-servant was given as sadaqa. Upon this he said: Bring that to me, for it (the sadaqa) has reached its destination.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ بْنَ السَّبَّاقِ، قَالَ إِنَّ جُوَيْرِيَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ " هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ " . قَالَتْ لاَ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا عِنْدَنَا طَعَامٌ إِلاَّ عَظْمٌ مِنْ شَاةٍ أُعْطِيَتْهُ مَوْلاَتِي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ . فَقَالَ " قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحِلَّهَا " .

Qais b Sakan reported that al-Ash'ath b. Qais went to 'Abdullah on the day of 'Ashura while he was eating. He said:
Abu Muhammad, come near and dine. Upon this he said: I am fasting. Thereupon he said: We used to observe fast and then (this practice) was abandoned.

Sunan Ibn Majah 89
It was narrated that Jabir said:
"A man from among the Ansar came to the Prophet (SAW) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah (SAW), I have a slave girl. Should I do 'Azl (coitus interruptus) with her?' He said 'Whatever is decreed for her shall come to her." He (the Ansari) came to him later on and said: "The slave girl has become pregnant." The Prophet (SAW) said: "Nothing is decreed for a person but it will surely come to pass."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِي، يَعْلَى عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي جَارِيَةً أَعْزِلُ عَنْهَا قَالَ " سَيَأْتِيهَا مَا قُدِّرَ لَهَا " . فَأَتَاهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ قَدْ حَمَلَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " مَا قُدِّرَ لِنَفْسٍ شَىْءٌ إِلاَّ هِيَ كَائِنَةٌ " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 112
It was narrated that 'Aishah said:
The Messenger of Allah said: "O 'Uthman, if Allah places you in authority over this matter (as the caliph) some day and the hypocrites want to rid you of the garment with which Allah has clothed you (i.e., the position of caliph), do not take it off." He said that three times. (One of the narrators) Nu'man said: "I said to 'Aishah: 'What kept you from telling the people that?' She said: 'I was made to forget it.'"

" يَا عُثْمَانُ إِنْ وَلاَّكَ اللَّهُ هَذَا الأَمْرَ يَوْمًا فَأَرَادَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ أَنْ تَخْلَعَ قَمِيصَكَ الَّذِي قَمَّصَكَ اللَّهُ فَلاَ تَخْلَعْهُ " . يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ . قَالَ النُّعْمَانُ فَقُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ مَا مَنَعَكِ أَنْ تُعْلِمِي النَّاسَ بِهَذَا قَالَتْ أُنْسِيتُهُ وَاللَّهِ .

Sunan Ibn Majah 3834
It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:
"The Messenger of Allah (saas) often used to say: 'Allahumma thabbit qalbi 'ala dinika [O Allah, make my heart steadfast in (adhering to) Your religion].' A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Do you fear for us when we have believed in you and in (the Message) that you have brought?' He said: 'Hearts are between two of the fingers of the Most Merciful, and He controls them.'" (Hasan)Al-A'mash (one of the narrators) indicated with his fingers.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرَّقَاشِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ " اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ " . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَخَافُ عَلَيْنَا وَقَدْ آمَنَّا بِكَ وَصَدَّقْنَاكَ بِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ فَقَالَ " إِنَّ الْقُلُوبَ بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُقَلِّبُهَا " . وَأَشَارَ الأَعْمَشُ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ .

Sunan Ibn Majah 3741
It was narrated that Abu Jabirah bin Dahhak said:
"(Allah's saying) "Nor insult one another by nicknames(Surah Al Hujarat 49:11)" was revealed concerning us, the Ansar. When the Prophet(SAW) came to us, a man among us would have two or three names, and the Prophet(SAW) might call him by one of those names, only to be told: "O Messenger of Allah(SAW), he does not like that name." Then:"Nor insult one another by nicknames." was revealed."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَبِيرَةَ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، قَالَ فِينَا نَزَلَتْ مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ {وَلاَ تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ) قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَالرَّجُلُ مِنَّا لَهُ الاِسْمَانِ وَالثَّلاَثَةُ فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ رُبَّمَا دَعَاهُمْ بِبَعْضِ تِلْكَ الأَسْمَاءِ فَيُقَالُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ يَغْضَبُ مِنْ هَذَا . فَنَزَلَتْ {وَلاَ تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ} .

Sunan Ibn Majah 2285
It was narrated from Abu Rafi' that:
the Prophet (SAW) asked a man to give as a loan a young camel and said: “When the camels of the Sadaqah come, we will pay you back.” When the camels came, he said: " O Abu Rafi', pay this man back for his Young camel." But all I could find was a seven-year-old camel or that which is better. I told the Prophet (SAW) and he said: "Give it to him, for the best of People are those who are best in repaying."
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ اسْتَسْلَفَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ بَكْرًا وَقَالَ " إِذَا جَاءَتْ إِبِلُ الصَّدَقَةِ قَضَيْنَاكَ " . فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتْ قَالَ " يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ اقْضِ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ بَكْرَهُ " . فَلَمْ أَجِدْ إِلاَّ رَبَاعِيًا فَصَاعِدًا فَأَخْبَرْتُ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَقَالَ " أَعْطِهِ فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ النَّاسِ أَحْسَنُهُمْ قَضَاءً " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 2146
It was narrated from Isma'il bin 'Ubaid bin Rifa'ah, from his father, that his grandfather Rifa'ah said:
"We went out with the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and the people were trading early in the morning. He called them: 'O merchants!' and when they looked up and craned their necks, he said : 'The merchants will be raised on the Day of Resurrection as immoral people, apart from those who fear Allah and act righteously and speak the truth (i.e. those who are honest)."'
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، رِفَاعَةَ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَإِذَا النَّاسُ يَتَبَايَعُونَ بُكْرَةً فَنَادَاهُمْ " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ " . فَلَمَّا رَفَعُوا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَمَدُّوا أَعْنَاقَهُمْ قَالَ " إِنَّ التُّجَّارَ يُبْعَثُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فُجَّارًا إِلاَّ مَنِ اتَّقَى اللَّهَ وَبَرَّ وَصَدَقَ " .

It was narrated that 'Aishah said:
“The Messenger of Allah (SAW) came in one day looking happy, and said: 'O 'Aishah, did you not see that Mujazziz Al-Mudliji entered upon me and saw Usamah and Zaid. There was a blanket over them and their faces were covered but their feet were exposed, and he said: 'These feet belong to one another'.”

Sunan Ibn Majah 2433
It was narrated from Sa'd bin Atwal that :
his brother died, leaving behind three hundred Dirham and dependents. “I wanted to spend (his money) on his dependents, but the Prophet (SAW) said: 'Your brother is being detained by his debt, so pay it off for him.'” He said “O Messenger of Allah (SAW), I have paid it off apart from two Dinar, which a woman is claiming but she has no proof.” He said: “Give them to her for she is telling the truth.”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ الأَطْوَلِ، أَنَّ أَخَاهُ، مَاتَ وَتَرَكَ ثَلاَثَمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ وَتَرَكَ عِيَالاً فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُنْفِقَهَا عَلَى عِيَالِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ أَخَاكَ مُحْتَبَسٌ بِدَيْنِهِ فَاقْضِ عَنْهُ " . فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ أَدَّيْتُ عَنْهُ إِلاَّ دِينَارَيْنِ ادَّعَتْهُمَا امْرَأَةٌ وَلَيْسَ لَهَا بَيِّنَةٌ . قَالَ " فَأَعْطِهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُحِقَّةٌ " .

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that Sa'd bin Ubadah Al-Ansari said:
“O Messenger of Allah (SAW) if a man finds another man with his wife, should he kill him?” The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “No.” Sa'd said: “Yes he should, by the one who honored you with the Truth!” The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Listen to what your leader says!”
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيَّ، قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يَجِدُ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلاً أَيَقْتُلُهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ " . قَالَ سَعْدٌ بَلَى وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ بِالْحَقِّ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اسْمَعُوا مَا يَقُولُ سَيِّدُكُمْ " .

It was
narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:
“A woman came to the Prophet
(saw)
and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, my sister has died and she owed

fast of two consecutive months.’ He said: ‘Do you not think that
if
your sister owed a debt, you would pay it off for her?’ She
said: ‘Of
course.’ He said: ‘The right of Allah is greater.’”

Sunan Ibn Majah 3106
It was
narrated that Najiyah Al-Khuza’i – in his narration, ‘Amr (one
of the narrators) said that he was the one who looked after the
sacrificial animals of the Prophet (saw) – said:
“I said: ‘O
Messenger
of Allah, what should I do with those sacrificial animals
that become
unfit?’ He said: ‘Slaughter them, dip its sandal in
its blood, then
place it on its side, and leave them for the people
to eat.’”

Thawban
narrated that when he finished his prayer, the Messenger of
Allah
(saw) would ask for forgiveness three times, then he would say:
“Allahumma Antas-Salam wa minkas-salam tabarakta ya Dhal-jalali
wal-
ikram” (O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace,
Blessed
are You O Possessor of majesty and honour).”

It was
narrated that Mutarrif bin ‘Abdullah bin Shikhkhir said:
“I
heard
‘Uthman bin Abul-‘As say: “The last thing that the Prophet
(saw)
enjoined on me when he appointed me governor of Ta’if was
that he
said: “O ‘Uthman! Be tolerable in prayer and estimate the
people based
upon the weakest among them, for among them are the
elderly, the
young, the sick, those who live far from the mosque, and
those who
have pressing needs.”

Sunan Ibn Majah 1008
It was
narrated that Jabir said:
“When the Messenger of Allah (saw)
finished Tawaf around the House (the Ka’bah), he came to Maqam of
Ibrahim (the Station of Ibrahim). ‘Umar said: ‘O Messenger of
Allah,
this is the Station of our father Ibrahim about which Allah
said: “And
take you (people) the Maqam of Ibrahim as a place of
prayer.’” [2:125]
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ مِنْ طَوَافِ الْبَيْتِ أَتَى مَقَامَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا مَقَامُ أَبِينَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي قَالَ اللَّهُ {وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى } .
قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ فَقُلْتُ لِمَالِكٍ أَهَكَذَا قَرَأَ {وَاتَّخِذُوا} قَالَ نَعَمْ .
قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ فَقُلْتُ لِمَالِكٍ أَهَكَذَا قَرَأَ {وَاتَّخِذُوا} قَالَ نَعَمْ .

Sunan Ibn Majah 1023
It was
narrated from Hudhaifah that he saw Shabath bin Rib’i spitting
in
front of him. He said:
“O Shabath! Do not spit in front of you, for
the Messenger of Allah (saw) used to forbid that, and he said: ‘When
a
man stands up to perform prayer, Allah turns His Face towards him
until he turns away or he commits an evil Hadath.’”*
* In Injah Al-Hajah, 'Abdul-Ghani Dehlawi said: "Meaning he does a matter that negates the Khushu'(submissiveness) and attentiveness of his prayer. Or, the meaning of Hadath is invalidating the ablution. The only reason that he described it as 'evil' is because in most cases, its occurrence during prayer is from Shaitan."

" إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي أَقْبَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بِوَجْهِهِ حَتَّى يَنْقَلِبَ أَوْ يُحْدِثَ حَدَثَ سُوءٍ " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 4002
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah met a woman who was wearing perfume
and heading for the mosque. He said:
“O slavewoman of the
Compeller,
where are you headed?” She said: “To the mosque.” He
said: “And have
you put on perfume for that?” She said: “Yes.”
He said: “I heard the
Messenger of Allah (saw) say: ‘Any woman
who puts on perfume then goes
out to the mosque, no prayer will be
accepted from her until she takes
a bath.’”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ مَوْلَى أَبِي رُهْمٍ، - وَاسْمُهُ عُبَيْدٌ - أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، لَقِيَ امْرَأَةً مُتَطَيِّبَةً تُرِيدُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَالَ يَا أَمَةَ الْجَبَّارِ أَيْنَ تُرِيدِينَ قَالَتِ الْمَسْجِدَ قَالَ وَلَهُ تَطَيَّبْتِ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ . قَالَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَقُولُ
" أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ تَطَيَّبَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ لَمْ تُقْبَلْ لَهَا صَلاَةٌ حَتَّى تَغْتَسِلَ " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 4017
Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw)
say:
‘Allah will question His slave on the Day of Resurrection,
until He
says: “What kept you from denouncing evil when you saw
it?” When Allah
grants His slave a response, he will say: “O
Lord, I hoped for Your
mercy but I feared the people.”

" إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَسْأَلُ الْعَبْدَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يَقُولَ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَ الْمُنْكَرَ أَنْ تُنْكِرَهُ فَإِذَا لَقَّنَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا حُجَّتَهُ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ رَجَوْتُكَ وَفَرِقْتُ مِنَ النَّاسِ " .

It was
narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (saw)
said:
“O
Abu Hurairah, be cautious, and you will be the most devoted
of people
to Allah. Be content, and you will be the most grateful of
people to
Allah. Love for people what you love for yourself, and you
will be a
(true) believer. Be a good neighbor to your neighbors, and
you will
be a (true) Muslim. And laugh little, for laughing a lot
deadens the
heart.”

" يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كُنْ وَرِعًا تَكُنْ أَعْبَدَ النَّاسِ وَكُنْ قَنِعًا تَكُنْ أَشْكَرَ النَّاسِ وَأَحِبَّ لِلنَّاسِ مَا تُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِكَ تَكُنْ مُؤْمِنًا وَأَحَسِنْ جِوَارَ مَنْ جَاوَرَكَ تَكُنْ مُسْلِمًا وَأَقِلَّ الضَّحِكَ فَإِنَّ كَثْرَةَ الضَّحِكِ تُمِيتُ الْقَلْبَ " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 4261
It was
narrated from Anas that the Prophet (saw) entered upon a young
man
who was dying and said:
“How do you feel?” He said: “I have
hope
in Allah, O Messenger of Allah, but I fear my sins.” The
Messenger of
Allah (saw) said: “These two things (hope and fear) do
not coexist in
the heart of a person in a situation like this, but
Allah will give
him that which he hopes for and keep him safe from
that which he
fears.”
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ دَخَلَ عَلَى شَابٍّ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ : " كَيْفَ تَجِدُكَ " . قَالَ : أَرْجُو اللَّهَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَأَخَافُ ذُنُوبِي . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ : " لاَ يَجْتَمِعَانِ فِي قَلْبِ عَبْدٍ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْمَوْطِنِ إِلاَّ أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ مَا يَرْجُو وَآمَنَهُ مِمَّا يَخَافُ " .

It was
narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Abi Jad’a’ that he heard the
Prophet (saw) say:
“More than (the members of the tribe of) Banu
Tamim
will enter Paradise through the intercession of a man from
among my
nation.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, besides you?”
He said:
“Besides me.”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَذْعَاءِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَقُولُ " لَيَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ بِشَفَاعَةِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَكْثَرُ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ " . قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ سِوَاكَ قَالَ " سِوَاىَ " . قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ أَنَا سَمِعْتُهُ .

Musnad Ahmad 30
It was narrated that Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq said:
O people, you recite this verse: `O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you follow the (right) guidance [and enjoin what is right (Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbid what is wrong (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden)] no hurt can come to you from those who are in error` [al-Ma’idah 5:105]. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “If the people see an evildoer and do not stop him, soon Allah will send His punishment upon them all.”
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ} وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ إِذَا رَأَوْا الظَّالِمَ فَلَمْ يَأْخُذُوا عَلَى يَدَيْهِ أَوْشَكَ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمْ اللَّهُ بِعِقَابِهِ.

It was narrated that Ibn `Abbas said:
I wanted to ask `Umar something but I did not find a chance, so I waited for two years. Then when we were in Marraz-Zahran, he went to relieve himself, then he came after relieving himself and I poured water for him, I said: O Ameer al-Mu`mineen, who are the two women who helped one another against the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)`? He said: `A`ishah and Hafsah.
` As mentioned in the Qur`an: `If you two (wives of the Prophet (ﷺ)) turn in repentance to Allâh. (it will be better for you), your hearts are indeed so inclined to oppose what the Prophet (ﷺ) likes); but if you help one another against him (Muhammad (ﷺ)). then verily, Allâh is his Maula (Lord, or Master, or Protector), and Jibril (Gabriel). and the righteous among the believers, and furthermore, the angels are his helpers`
(surah at-Tahreem 66:3)
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ، عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ مَوْضِعًا فَمَكَثْتُ سَنَتَيْنِ فَلَمَّا كُنَّا بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ وَذَهَبَ لِيَقْضِيَ حَاجَتَهُ فَجَاءَ وَقَدْ قَضَى حَاجَتَهُ فَذَهَبْتُ أَصُبُّ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ الْمَاءِ قُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ الْمَرْأَتَانِ اللَّتَانِ تَظَاهَرَتَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عَائِشَةُ وَحَفْصَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا.

Sa`eed bin ‘Abdullah al-Juhani narrated that Muhammad bin `Umar bin `Ali bin Abi Talib told him, from his father, from his grandfather `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
`Three things, O ‘Ali, you should not delay. They are: prayer when the time comes, funerals when the bier is there, and a single woman, if she finds a compatible match.”
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ، هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجُهَنِيُّ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ثَلَاثَةٌ يَا عَلِيُّ لَا تُؤَخِّرْهُنَّ الصَّلَاةُ إِذَا أَتَتْ وَالْجَنَازَةُ إِذَا حَضَرَتْ وَالْأَيِّمُ إِذَا وَجَدَتْ كُفُؤًا.

Shuraih - i.e., bin `Ubaid said:
The people of Syria were mentioned in the presence of `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) when he was in Iraq. They said: Curse them, O Ameer al-Mu`mineen. He said: No, I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “The abdal (people who are close to Allah) will be in Syria, and they will be forty men. Every time one of them dies, Allah will replace him with another man. By virtue of them rain is sent and through them victory is achieved against the enemy and punishment is warded off from the people of Syria.`
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ، حَدَّثَنِي شُرَيْحٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ ذُكِرَ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ عِنْدَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ بِالْعِرَاقِ فَقَالُوا الْعَنْهُمْ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ لَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْأَبْدَالُ يَكُونُونَ بِالشَّامِ وَهُمْ أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا كُلَّمَا مَاتَ رَجُلٌ أَبْدَلَ اللَّهُ مَكَانَهُ رَجُلًا يُسْقَى بِهِمْ الْغَيْثُ وَيُنْتَصَرُ بِهِمْ عَلَى الْأَعْدَاءِ وَيُصْرَفُ عَنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ بِهِمْ الْعَذَابُ.

Yahya said that Malik related from Ibn Shihab that Sunayn Abi Jamila, a man from the Banu Sulaym, found an abandoned child in the time of Umar ibn al-Khattab. Sunayn took him to Umar ibn al-Khattab. He asked, "What has induced you to take this person?" He answered, "I found him lost, so I took him.'' Umar's advisor said to him,' 'Amir al-Muminin! He is a man who does good." Umar inquired of him, "Is it so?" He replied, "Yes." Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "Go, he is free, and you have his wala' inheritance, and we will provide for him."
Yahya said that he heard Malik say, "What is done in our community about an abandoned child is that he is free, and his wala' inheritance belongs to the muslims, and they inherit from him and pay his blood money."
قَالَ يَحْيَى قَالَ مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سُنَيْنٍ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ، رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ أَنَّهُ وَجَدَ مَنْبُوذًا فِي زَمَانِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى أَخْذِ هَذِهِ النَّسَمَةِ فَقَالَ وَجَدْتُهَا ضَائِعَةً فَأَخَذْتُهَا . فَقَالَ لَهُ عَرِيفُهُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنَّهُ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ . فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ أَكَذَلِكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ . فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ اذْهَبْ فَهُوَ حُرٌّ وَلَكَ وَلاَؤُهُ وَعَلَيْنَا نَفَقَتُهُ .

Yahya related to me from Malik that Humayd ibn Qays al-Makki said, "A man came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with the two sons of Jafar ibn Abi Talib. He said to their nursemaid, 'Why do I see them so thin?' Their nursemaid said, 'Messenger of Allah, the evil eye goes quickly to them. Nothing stops us from asking someone to make invocations (using ayats of Qur'an) for them, except that we do not know what of that would agree with you.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Make invocations for them. Had anything been able to precede the decree, the evil eye would precede it.' "
حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمَكِّيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ دُخِلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِابْنَىْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَالَ لِحَاضِنَتِهِمَا " مَا لِي أَرَاهُمَا ضَارِعَيْنِ " . فَقَالَتْ حَاضِنَتُهُمَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ تَسْرَعُ إِلَيْهِمَا الْعَيْنُ وَلَمْ يَمْنَعْنَا أَنْ نَسْتَرْقِيَ لَهُمَا إِلاَّ أَنَّا لاَ نَدْرِي مَا يُوَافِقُكَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اسْتَرْقُوا لَهُمَا فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ سَبَقَ شَىْءٌ الْقَدَرَ لَسَبَقَتْهُ الْعَيْنُ " .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam that a man received a wound in the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The blood clotted in the wound and the man called two men from the Banu Ammar tribe. They looked at it and claimed that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to them, "Which of you is the better doctor?" They said, "Is there any good in medicine, Messenger of Allah?" Zayd claimed that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The one who sent down the disease sent down the remedy."
حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَصَابَهُ جُرْحٌ فَاحْتَقَنَ الْجُرْحُ الدَّمَ وَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ دَعَا رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ بَنِي أَنْمَارٍ فَنَظَرَا إِلَيْهِ فَزَعَمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لَهُمَا " أَيُّكُمَا أَطَبُّ " . فَقَالاَ أَوَ فِي الطِّبِّ خَيْرٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَزَعَمَ زَيْدٌ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " أَنْزَلَ الدَّوَاءَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ الأَدْوَاءَ " .

Malik related to me from Safwan ibn Sulaym from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was questioned by a man who said, "Messenger of Allah, shall I ask permission of my mother to enter?" He said, "Yes " The man said, "I live with her in the house". The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said "Ask her permission." The man said, "I am her servant." The Messenger of Allah. may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Ask her permission. Do you want to see her naked?" He said, "No." He said, "Then ask her permission."
حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى أُمِّي فَقَالَ " نَعَمْ " . قَالَ الرَّجُلُ إِنِّي مَعَهَا فِي الْبَيْتِ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اسْتَأْذِنْ عَلَيْهَا " . فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ إِنِّي خَادِمُهَا . فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اسْتَأْذِنْ عَلَيْهَا أَتُحِبُّ أَنْ تَرَاهَا عُرْيَانَةً " . قَالَ لاَ . قَالَ " فَاسْتَأْذِنْ عَلَيْهَا " .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that A'isha and Hafsa, the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began fasting voluntarily one morning and then food was given to them and they broke their fast with it. Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came in. A'isha said, "Hafsa asked, anticipating me in speech - she took after her father Umar - 'Messenger of Allah, A'isha and I began the morning fasting voluntarily and then food was given us and we broke the fast with it.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Fast another day in its place.' "
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ، وَحَفْصَةَ، زَوْجَىِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَصْبَحَتَا صَائِمَتَيْنِ مُتَطَوِّعَتَيْنِ فَأُهْدِيَ لَهُمَا طَعَامٌ فَأَفْطَرَتَا عَلَيْهِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ وَبَدَرَتْنِي بِالْكَلاَمِ - وَكَانَتْ بِنْتَ أَبِيهَا - يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أَنَا وَعَائِشَةُ صَائِمَتَيْنِ مُتَطَوِّعَتَيْنِ فَأُهْدِيَ إِلَيْنَا طَعَامٌ فَأَفْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" اقْضِيَا مَكَانَهُ يَوْمًا آخَرَ " .

Narrated Jabir:
The Prophet and Abu Bakr came on foot to pay me a visit (during my illness) at Banu Salama's (dwellings). The Prophet found me unconscious, so he asked for water and performed the ablution from it and sprinkled some water over it. I came to my senses and said, "O Allah's Apostle! What do you order me to do as regards my wealth?" So there was revealed:-- "Allah commands you as regards your children's (inheritance):" (4.11)
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، أَنَّ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَهُمْ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ مُنْكَدِرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ عَادَنِي النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ مَاشِيَيْنِ فَوَجَدَنِي النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لاَ أَعْقِلُ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ رَشَّ عَلَىَّ، فَأَفَقْتُ فَقُلْتُ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَصْنَعَ فِي مَالِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَنَزَلَتْ {يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلاَدِكُمْ}

We had no alcoholic drink except that which was produced from dates and which you call Fadikh. While I was standing offering drinks to Abu Talh and so-and-so and so-and-so, a man cam and said, "Has the news reached you? They said, "What is that?" He said. "Alcoholic drinks have been prohibited. They said, "Spill (the contents of these pots, O Anas! "Then they neither asked about it (alcoholic drinks) nor returned it after the news from that man.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، قَالَ قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ مَا كَانَ لَنَا خَمْرٌ غَيْرُ فَضِيخِكُمْ هَذَا الَّذِي تُسَمُّونَهُ الْفَضِيخَ. فَإِنِّي لَقَائِمٌ أَسْقِي أَبَا طَلْحَةَ وَفُلاَنًا وَفُلاَنًا إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ وَهَلْ بَلَغَكُمُ الْخَبَرُ فَقَالُوا وَمَا ذَاكَ قَالَ حُرِّمَتِ الْخَمْرُ. قَالُوا أَهْرِقْ هَذِهِ الْقِلاَلَ يَا أَنَسُ. قَالَ فَمَا سَأَلُوا عَنْهَا وَلاَ رَاجَعُوهَا بَعْدَ خَبَرِ الرَّجُلِ.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
Some people were asking Allah's Apostle questions mockingly. A man would say, "Who is my father?" Another man whose she-camel had gone astray would say, "Where is my she-camel? "So Allah revealed this Verse in this connection: "O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble." (5.101)
حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجُوَيْرِيَةِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ كَانَ قَوْمٌ يَسْأَلُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم اسْتِهْزَاءً، فَيَقُولُ الرَّجُلُ مَنْ أَبِي وَيَقُولُ الرَّجُلُ تَضِلُّ نَاقَتُهُ أَيْنَ نَاقَتِي فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لاَ تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ} حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الآيَةِ كُلِّهَا.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
While in his tent on the day the Battle of Badr, the Prophet said, "O Allah! I request You (to fulfill) Your promise and contract. O Allah! It You wish that the Believers be destroyed). You will never be worshipped henceforth." On that, Abu Bakr held the Prophet by the hand and said, "That is enough, O Allah's Apostle! You have appealed to your Lord too pressingly" The Prophet was wearing his armor and then went out reciting: 'Their multitude will be put to flight and they will show their backs. Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more previous and most bitter.' (54.45-46)
حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ وَهْوَ فِي قُبَّةٍ لَهُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ " أَنْشُدُكَ عَهْدَكَ وَوَعْدَكَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ لَمْ تُعْبَدْ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ أَبَدًا ". فَأَخَذَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ حَسْبُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ أَلْحَحْتَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ. وَهْوَ فِي الدِّرْعِ فَخَرَجَ وَهْوَ يَقُولُ " {سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ * بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَى وَأَمَرُّ} "

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ ". قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ آقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ " نَعَمْ ". فَقَرَأْتُ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ إِلَى هَذِهِ الآيَةِ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ شَهِيدًا} قَالَ " حَسْبُكَ الآنَ ". فَالْتَفَتُّ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ.

Narrated `Aisha:
I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Suppose you landed in a valley where there is a tree of which something has been eaten and then you found trees of which nothing has been eaten, of which tree would you let your camel graze?" He said, "(I will let my camel graze) of the one of which nothing has been eaten before." (The sub-narrator added: `Aisha meant that Allah's Apostle had not married a virgin besides herself .)

" فِي الَّذِي لَمْ يُرْتَعْ مِنْهَا ". تَعْنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ يَتَزَوَّجْ بِكْرًا غَيْرَهَا.

Some lady said, "O Allah's Apostle! My husband has another wife, so it is sinful of me to claim that he has given me what he has not given me (in order to tease her)?" Allah's Apostle said, The one who pretends that he has been given what he has not been given, is just like the (false) one who wears two garments of falsehood."

" الْمُتَشَبِّعُ بِمَا لَمْ يُعْطَ كَلاَبِسِ ثَوْبَىْ زُورٍ ".

Narrated Abu `Ubaid:
the freed slave of Ibn Azhar that he witnessed the Day of `Id-al-Adha with `Umar bin Al-Khattab. `Umar offered the `Id prayer before the sermon and then delivered the sermon before the people, saying, "O people! Allah's Apostle has forbidden you to fast (on the first day of) each of these two 'Ida, for one of them is the Day of breaking your fast, and the other is the one, on which you eat the meat of your sacrifices."
حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ الْعِيدَ يَوْمَ الأَضْحَى مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ فَصَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ صِيَامِ هَذَيْنِ الْعِيدَيْنِ، أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَيَوْمُ فِطْرِكُمْ مِنْ صِيَامِكُمْ وَأَمَّا الآخَرُ فَيَوْمٌ تَأْكُلُونَ نُسُكَكُمْ.

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d:
Allah's Apostle was offered something to drink. He drank of it while on his right was a boy and on his left were some elderly people. He said to the boy, "May I give these (elderly) people first?" The boy said, "By Allah, O Allah's Apostle! I will not give up my share from you to somebody else." On that Allah's Apostle placed the cup in the hand of that boy.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أُتِيَ بِشَرَابٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ غُلاَمٌ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ الأَشْيَاخُ. فَقَالَ لِلْغُلاَمِ
" أَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَ هَؤُلاَءِ ". فَقَالَ الْغُلاَمُ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لاَ أُوثِرُ بِنَصِيبِي مِنْكَ أَحَدًا. قَالَ فَتَلَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي يَدِهِ.

Narrated Abu Huraira:
I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The good deeds of any person will not make him enter Paradise." (i.e., None can enter Paradise through his good deeds.) They (the Prophet's companions) said, 'Not even you, O Allah's Apostle?' He said, "Not even myself, unless Allah bestows His favor and mercy on me." So be moderate in your religious deeds and do the deeds that are within your ability: and none of you should wish for death, for if he is a good doer, he may increase his good deeds, and if he is an evil doer, he may repent to Allah."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " لَنْ يُدْخِلَ أَحَدًا عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ ". قَالُوا وَلاَ أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ " لاَ، وَلاَ أَنَا إِلاَّ أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ بِفَضْلٍ وَرَحْمَةٍ فَسَدِّدُوا وَقَارِبُوا وَلاَ يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ إِمَّا مُحْسِنًا فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ خَيْرًا، وَإِمَّا مُسِيئًا فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَسْتَعْتِبَ ".

Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, 'No 'Adwa (i.e. no contagious disease is conveyed to others without Allah's permission); nor (any evil omen in the month of) Safar; nor Hama" A bedouin said, "O Allah's Apostle! What about the camels which, when on the sand (desert) look like deers, but when a mangy camel mixes with them they all get infected with mange?" On that Allah s Apostle said, "Then who conveyed the (mange) disease to the first (mangy) camel?"
حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ عَدْوَى، وَلاَ صَفَرَ، وَلاَ هَامَةَ ". فَقَالَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا بَالُ الإِبِلِ تَكُونُ فِي الرَّمْلِ كَأَنَّهَا الظِّبَاءُ، فَيُخَالِطُهَا الْبَعِيرُ الأَجْرَبُ فَيُجْرِبُهَا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " فَمَنْ أَعْدَى الأَوَّلَ ".

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:
The Prophet said Allah will not look, on the Day of Resurrection at the person who drags his garment (behind him) out of conceit. On that Abu Bakr said, "O Allah's Apostle! One side of my Izar hangs low if I do not take care of it." The Prophet said, 'You are not one of those who do that out of conceit."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلاَءَ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ". قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَحَدَ شِقَّىْ إِزَارِي يَسْتَرْخِي، إِلاَّ أَنْ أَتَعَاهَدَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَسْتَ مِمَّنْ يَصْنَعُهُ خُيَلاَءَ ".

Narrated Al-Miswar bin Makhrama:
Allah's Apostle distributed some Qaba's but he did not give anything to Makhrama. Makhrama said (to me), "O my son! Let us go to Allah's Apostle." So I proceeded with him and he said, "Go in and call him 'or me." So I called the Prophet for him The Prophet came out to him, wearing one of those Qaba's and said, (to Makhrama), "I have kept this for you " Makhrama looked at it and said, "Makhrama is satisfied now."
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ، قَالَ قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَقْبِيَةً، وَلَمْ يُعْطِ مَخْرَمَةَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ مَخْرَمَةُ يَا بُنَىَّ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ ادْخُلْ فَادْعُهُ لِي. قَالَ فَدَعَوْتُهُ لَهُ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَبَاءٌ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ
" خَبَأْتُ هَذَا لَكَ ". قَالَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَضِيَ مَخْرَمَةُ.

Narrated Abu Zur'a:
l entered a house in Medina with Abu Huraira, and he saw a man making pictures at the top of the house. Abu Huraira said, "I heard Allah's Apostle saying that Allah said, 'Who would be more unjust than the one who tries to create the like of My creatures? Let them create a grain: let them create a gnat.' "Abu Huraira then asked for a water container and washed his arms up to his armpits. I said, "0 Abu i Huraira! Is this something you have heard I from Allah's Apostle?" He said, "The limit for ablution is up to the place where the ornaments will reach on the Day of Resurrection.'
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ دَارًا بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَرَأَى أَعْلاَهَا مُصَوِّرًا يُصَوِّرُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ
" وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذَهَبَ يَخْلُقُ كَخَلْقِي، فَلْيَخْلُقُوا حَبَّةً، وَلْيَخْلُقُوا ذَرَّةً ". ثُمَّ دَعَا بِتَوْرٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ إِبْطَهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَشَىْءٌ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ مُنْتَهَى الْحِلْيَةِ.
