Sahih al-Bukhari 979
Al-Hasan bin Muslim told me that
Ibn `Abbas had said, "I joined the Prophet, Abu Bakr, `Umar and `Uthman in the `Id ul Fitr prayers. They used to offer the prayer before the Khutba and then they used to deliver the Khutba afterwards. Once the Prophet I came out (for the `Id prayer) as if I were just observing him waving to the people to sit down. He, then accompanied by Bilal, came crossing the rows till he reached the women. He recited the following verse:
'O Prophet! When the believing women come to you to take the oath of fealty to you . . . (to the end of the verse) (60.12).' After finishing the recitation he said, "O ladies! Are you fulfilling your covenant?" None except one woman said, "Yes." Hasan did not know who was that woman. The Prophet said, "Then give alms." Bilal spread his garment and said, "Keep on giving alms. Let my father and mother sacrifice their lives for you (ladies)." So the ladies kept on putting their Fatkhs (big rings) and other kinds of rings in Bilal's garment." `Abdur-Razaq said, " 'Fatkhs' is a big ring which used to be worn in the (Pre-Islamic) period of ignorance.
قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ الْفِطْرَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ ـ رضى الله عنهم ـ يُصَلُّونَهَا قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ، ثُمَّ يُخْطَبُ بَعْدُ، خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ حِينَ يُجْلِسُ بِيَدِهِ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ يَشُقُّهُمْ حَتَّى جَاءَ النِّسَاءَ مَعَهُ بِلاَلٌ فَقَالَ {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ} الآيَةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ حِينَ فَرَغَ مِنْهَا " آنْتُنَّ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ". قَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ لَمْ يُجِبْهُ غَيْرُهَا نَعَمْ. لاَ يَدْرِي حَسَنٌ مَنْ هِيَ. قَالَ " فَتَصَدَّقْنَ " فَبَسَطَ بِلاَلٌ ثَوْبَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلُمَّ لَكُنَّ فِدَاءٌ أَبِي وَأُمِّي، فَيُلْقِينَ الْفَتَخَ وَالْخَوَاتِيمَ فِي ثَوْبِ بِلاَلٍ. قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ الْفَتَخُ الْخَوَاتِيمُ الْعِظَامُ كَانَتْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ.

Mishkat al-Masabih 979
‘Abdallah b. Mas'ud said:
We used to greet the Prophet while he was engaged in prayer and he would respond to our greeting, but when we returned from the Negus* we greeted him and he did not respond to us, so we said, “Messenger of God, we used to greet you when you were engaged in prayer and you would respond to us.” He replied, “Prayer demands one’s whole attention.”
* The reference is to the return of those who had gone from Mecca to Abyssinia when Muslims were being persecuted.

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd as-Sa'idi (RA):
A woman came to Allah's Messenger (SAW) and said, "O Allah's Messenger, I came to offer myself to you (in marriage)." Allah's Messenger (SAW) looked her up and down (carefully), and then Allah's Messenger (SAW) lowed his head. When the woman saw that he had not made any decision regarding her she sat down. A man of his companions then stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger, if you have no need for her, marry her to me." He asked, "Do you have anything (to give her as dowry)?" He replied, "No, I swear by Allah, O Allah's Messenger." He thereupon said, "Go to your family and see if you can find something." He went and then returned and said, "No, I swear by Allah I found nothing." Allah's Messenger (SAW) then said, "Look for something, even if it should be an iron ring." He went and then returned and said, "No, I swear by Allah, O Allah's Messenger, not even an iron ring; but I have onl this lower garment of mine - [Sahl said, 'He had no upper garment'] - and I shall give her half of it." Allah's Messenger (SAW) then said, "What will she do with your lower garment? For if you wear it, there would be nothing of it on her, and if she wears it, there would be nothing of it on you." The man then sat down and when he had sit for a long time he stood up and Allah's Messenger (SAW) saw him departing, so he commanded him and he was called back. When he came back, he said, "What do you have (i.e. memorized) from the Qur'an?" He replied, "I have Surat such and such and Surat such and such," he counted them. He then asked "Can you recited them by heart?" He replied, "Yes." He said, "Go, for I have given her to you in marriage for the part of the Qur'an which you know."

Another narration has: "Go for I have given her to you in marriage, so teach her some of Qur'an."
A narration by al-Bukhari has: "I have married her to you for the part of the Qur'an which you know."
وَعَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ اَلسَّاعِدِيِّ - رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا- قَالَ : { جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ! جِئْتُ أَهَبُ لَكَ نَفْسِي , فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَصَعَّدَ اَلنَّظَرَ فِيهَا , وَصَوَّبَهُ , ثُمَّ طَأْطَأَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -رَأْسَهُ , فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ اَلْمَرْأَةُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَقْضِ فِيهَا شَيْئًا 1 جَلَسَتْ , فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ .
فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ! إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ بِهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا .
قَالَ : " فَهَلْ عِنْدكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ? " .
فَقَالَ : لَا , وَاَللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ .
فَقَالَ : " اِذْهَبْ إِلَى أَهْلِكَ , فَانْظُرْ هَلْ تَجِدُ شَيْئًا ? " فَذَهَبَ , ثُمَّ رَجَعَ ?
فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ! إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ بِهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا .
قَالَ : " فَهَلْ عِنْدكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ? " .
فَقَالَ : لَا , وَاَللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ .
فَقَالَ : " اِذْهَبْ إِلَى أَهْلِكَ , فَانْظُرْ هَلْ تَجِدُ شَيْئًا ? " فَذَهَبَ , ثُمَّ رَجَعَ ?
فَقَالَ : لَا , وَاَللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ، مَا وَجَدْتُ شَيْئًا.
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -" انْظُرْ وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ "، فَذَهَبَ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ.
فَقَالَ : لَا وَاَللَّهِ , يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ , وَلَا خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ , وَلَكِنْ هَذَا إِزَارِي - قَالَ سَهْلٌ : مَالُهُ رِدَاءٌ - فَلَهَا نِصْفُهُ .
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -" مَا تَصْنَعُ بِإِزَارِكَ ? إِنْ لَبِسْتَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهَا مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ، وَإِنْ لَبِسَتْهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْكَ شَيْءٌ " فَجَلَسَ اَلرَّجُلُ , وَحَتَّى إِذَا طَالَ مَجْلِسُهُ ...

It was
narrated that Malik bin Huwairith said:
“I came to the Prophet
(saw) with a friend of mine, and when we wanted to leave, he said to
us: ‘When the time for prayer comes, say the Adhan and Iqamah, then
let the older of you lead the prayer.’”
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ هِلاَلٍ الصَّوَّافُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ، قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي فَلَمَّا أَرَدْنَا الاِنْصِرَافَ قَالَ لَنَا

Musnad Ahmad 979
It was narrated from Muhammad bin `Ubaidullah, from his father, that his paternal uncle said:
`Ali (رضي الله عنه) was asked: Can a man ride his sacrificial animal? He said: There is nothing wrong with it; the Prophet (ﷺ) used to pass by men who were walking and he would tell them to ride his sacrificial animails, i.e. the Prophet`s sacrificial animals. He said: And there is nothing you could follow that is better than the Sunnah of your Prophet (ﷺ).
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَسُئِلَ يَرْكَبُ الرَّجُلُ هَدْيَهُ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ قَدْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمُرُّ بِالرِّجَالِ يَمْشُونَ فَيَأْمُرُهُمْ يَرْكَبُونَ هَدْيَهُ وَهَدْيَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُونَ شَيْئًا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ سُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
We accompanied the Prophet (PBUH) in a journey, and when we climbed up a height, we proclaimed aloud: "La ilaha illallah (There is no true god except Allah)" and "Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greatest)." The Prophet (PBUH) admonished us saying, "O people, take it easy. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. He is with you (i.e., by His Knowledge), He is Hearing and He is Near."

وعن أبي موسي الأشعري رضي الله عنه قال: كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في سفر، فكنا إذا أشرفنا على واد هللنا وكبرنا وارتفعت أصواتنا، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم :”يا أيها الناس أربعوا عل أنفسكم فإنكم لا تدعون أصم ولا غائباً. إنه معكم ، إنه سميع قريب" ((متفق عليه))
أربعوا” بفتح الباء الموحدة أي : أرفقوا بأنفسكم.

Sunan an-Nasa'i 979
It was narrated from Jabir bin Samurah that :
The Prophet (SAW) used to recite "By the heaven holding the big stars" and: "By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star)" and similar surahs in Zuhr and 'Asr.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ وَنَحْوِهِمَا .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Amr ibn Kathir ibn Aflah from Abu Muhammad, the mawla of Abu Qatada that Abu Qatada ibn Ribi said, "We went out with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the year of Hunayn. When the armies met, the Muslims were put in disarray. I saw a man from the idol worshippers who had got the better of one of the Muslims, so I circled round and came up behind him, and struck him with a sword on his shoulder-blade. He turned to me and grabbed me so hard that I felt the smell of death in it. Then death overcame him, and he let go of me."
He continued, "I met Umar ibn al-Khattab and said to him, 'What's going on with the people?' He replied, 'The Command of Allah.' Then the people took hold of the battle and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Whoever has killed one of the dead and can prove it, can strip him of his personal effects.' I stood up and said, 'Who will testify for me?' and then I sat down. The Messenger of Allah repeated, 'Whoever has killed one of the dead and can prove it, can strip him of his personal effects.' I stood up and said, 'Who will testify for me?' then I sat down. Then he repeated his statement a third time, so I stood up, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'What's the matter with you, Abu Qatada?' So I related my story to him. A man said, 'He has spoken the truth, Messenger of Allah. I have the effects of that slain person with me, so give him compensation for it, Messenger of Allah.'
Abu Bakr said, 'No, by Allah! He did not intend that one of the lions of Allah should fight for Allah and His Messenger and then give you his spoils.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'He has spoken the truth, hand it over to him.' He gave it to me, and I sold the breast-plate and I bought a garden in the area of the Banu Salima with the money. It was my first property, and I acquired it in Islam."
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ، مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ بْنِ رِبْعِيٍّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَامَ حُنَيْنٍ فَلَمَّا الْتَقَيْنَا كَانَتْ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ جَوْلَةٌ - قَالَ - فَرَأَيْتُ رَجُلاً مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَدْ عَلاَ رَجُلاً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ - قَالَ - فَاسْتَدَرْتُ لَهُ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ فَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ عَلَى حَبْلِ عَاتِقِهِ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَىَّ فَضَمَّنِي ضَمَّةً وَجَدْتُ مِنْهَا رِيحَ الْمَوْتِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَهُ الْمَوْتُ فَأَرْسَلَنِي - قَالَ - فَلَقِيتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَقُلْتُ مَا بَالُ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ . ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّاسَ رَجَعُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلاً لَهُ عَلَيْهِ بَيِّنَةٌ فَلَهُ سَلَبُهُ " . قَالَ فَقُمْتُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ لِي ثُمَّ جَلَسْتُ . ثُمَّ قَالَ " مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلاً لَهُ عَلَيْهِ بَيِّنَةٌ فَلَهُ سَلَبُهُ " . قَالَ فَقُمْتُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ لِي ثُمَّ جَلَسْتُ ثُمَّ قَالَ ذَلِكَ الثَّالِثَةَ فَقُمْتُ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَا لَكَ يَا أَبَا قَتَادَةَ " . قَالَ فَاقْتَصَصْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْقِصَّةَ . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ صَدَقَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَلَبُ ذَلِكَ الْقَتِيلِ ...

Aishah narrated:
"I was not envious of anyone whose death was easy after I saw the severity the death of the Messenger of Allah."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْحَلَبِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْعَلاَءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ مَا أَغْبِطُ أَحَدًا بِهَوْنِ مَوْتٍ بَعْدَ الَّذِي رَأَيْتُ مِنْ شِدَّةِ مَوْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَقُلْتُ لَهُ مَنْ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ فَقَالَ هُوَ ابْنُ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ اللَّجْلاَجِ . وَإِنَّمَا عَرَّفَهُ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 979
Abu Humaid al-Said said:
Some people asked: Messenger of Allah, how should we invoke blessings on you? He said: Say,” O Allah, bless Muhammad, his wives and his off springs, as Thou didst bless Abraham’s family, and grant favours to Muhammad’s family, his wives and off springs, as Thou didst grant favours to Abraham’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious.

I heard Abd Sa'id al-Khudri as saying that he had heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) make (this) observation with a gesture of his five fingers, and then he narrated the hadith as transmitted by 'Uyaina (hadith 2134).

Narrated `Abdullāh bin Mughaffal:
I saw Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) reciting Sūrat-al-Fatḥ on his she-camel on the day of the Conquest of Mecca.

In a similar report, Abdullah bin Mughaffal said: I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting (Qur'an) while he was riding on his she camel or camel which was moving, carrying him. He was reciting Sūrat Fatḥ or part of Sūrat Fatḥ very softly and in an attractive, moving tone.

‘A'isha reported God’s messenger as saying, “The tooth-stick is a means of purifying the mouth, and is pleasing to the Lord.”
Shafi‘i, Ahmad, Darimi and Nasa’i transmitted it, and Bukhari transmitted it in his Sahih without an isnad.

The story of how the Prophet (SAW) inverted his cloak is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari from the narration of 'Abdullah bin Zaid. And it contains (the words):
"He (SAW) faced the Qiblah making supplication. Then, he prayed two Rak'at, reciting (the Qur'an) in them audibly."

Ibn Abi 'Ammar narrated. 'I said to Jabir (RAA), 'Is hyena a kind of game?' He replied, 'Yes.' I asked, 'Did Allah's Messenger (PBUH) say that?' He replied, 'Yes.' Related by Ahmad and the four Imams. Al-Bukhari and Ibn Hibban graded it as Sahih.

Ibn 'Umar (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) said, “The Wala’ (of a manumitted slave) is considered as one’s lineage, not to be sold or donated (refer to hadith no. 984).” Related by Ash-Shafi’i. Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim graded it as Sahih. It is also related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim with different wording

Abu Hurairah (May allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Look at those who are inferior to you and do not look at those who are superior to you, for this will keep you from belittling Allah's favour to you."
This is the wording in Sahih Muslim.

Mishkat al-Masabih 5617
`Ubada b. as-Samit reported God's messenger as saying, "In paradise there are a hundred stages between each two of which there is a distance like that between heaven and earth. Al-Firdaus from which issue the four rivers of paradise is the highest of them, and above it is the Throne; so, when you make request from God ask Him for al-Firdaus."
Tirmidhi transmitted it. I have not found it in the two Sahihs or al-Humaidi's book[*].
*In Masabih as-sunna the source of each individual tradition is not given but those in section 1 are all called sahih and come from Bukhari or Muslim, or from both. One therefore does not expect to find a tradition from Tirmidhi in section 1. It occurs in his collection in Sifat al janna, 4. In Masabih as-sunna it does not say that this tradition comes from 'Ubada, but the Mishkat is correct in attributing it to him. There is one like it from Abu Huraira in Bukhari, jihad, 4, but the wording is not identical.

Narrated Abu Huraira (rad):
Allah’s Messenger (saws) said “Had I not feared burdening my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use Siwak with every ablution.” [Reported by Malik, Ahmad and An-Nasai. Ibn Khuzaima graded it Sahih (sound) and Al-Bukhari mentioned as a Mu’allaq (suspended – without its chain of narrators).

Ibn 'Umar (RAA) narrated, ‘On our expeditions, we used to get honey and grapes (as spoi1s) and eat them while on our military expeditions, without bringing them to the Prophet (or whoever is in charge of distributing the spoils).’ Related by Al-Bukhari. Abu Dawud narrated, ‘The fifth was not taken from them.’ Ibn Hibban graded it as Sahih.

Narrated 'Amr bin ash-Sharid on the authority of his father:
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Delay in payment on the part of one who possesses the means, makes it lawful to dishonor and punish him."

Mishkat al-Masabih 819
Abu Huraira said that when God's Messenger got up after the second rak'a he began the recitation with, “Praise be to God, the Lord of the universe,” without observing a period of silence.
It is given thus in Muslim’s Sahih. Al-Humaidi mentioned it among those given by Muslim but not by Bukhari, as did the author of al-Jami' (Ibn Al-Athir) from Muslim alone.

Narrated Salim on the authority if his father:
Ghailan bin Salamah accepted Islam and he had ten wives who accepted Islam along with him. So, the Prophet (SAW) commanded him to, "Choose four of them."

Special Virtues of the Qur'an's Chapters and Verses 88
A’isha (RA) reported that whenever the Prophet ﷺ became sick, he would recite the Mu’awwidhāt (Sūrat Al-Falaq and Sūrat An-Nās) and then blow his breath over his body. When he became seriously ill, I used to recite (these two suwar) and rub his hands over his body hoping for its blessings.

Narrated Ibn Mas'ud (RA):
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "The food of Walima on the first day is a duty, that on the second day is a Sunnah, while the third is showing off. Whoever (does something) to show-off, Allah will expose him (in the Hereafter)."
[Reported by at-Tirmidhi who considered it Gharib (transmitted through a single narrator)].

Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudrī, “A man heard another man reciting (Sūrah Al-Ikhlāṣ) ‘Say He is Allah, (the) One.’ repeatedly. The next morning, he came to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ and informed him about it as if he thought that it was not enough to recite. On that Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, this Sūrah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an!”

Narrated Hakim bin Mu'awiyah on the authority of his father (RA):
I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what are the rights of a wife of one of us on her husband?" He replied, "You should give her food when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, not strike her on the face, and do not revile her or desert her except within the house."
[Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah, al-Bukhari mentioned part of it [the last sentence] as Mu'allaq (a broken chain from the side of the collector, i.e. al-Bukhari), Ibn Hibban and al-Hakim graded it Sahih (authentic)].

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Samura (RA):
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "When you swear an oath and then consider something else to be better than it, make atonement for your oath and do the thing that is better." [Agreed upon]. A wording of al-Bukhari has: "Do the thing that is better and make atonement for your oath."
In a narration by Abu Dawud: "Make atonement for your oath, then do the thing that is better." [The chains of narrators of both Ahadith are Sahih (authentic)].
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اَلرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ وَإِذَا حَلَفْتَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ, فَرَأَيْتُ غَيْرَهَا خَيْراً مِنْهَا, فَكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينِكَ, وَائْتِ اَلَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ" } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1 . وَفِي لَفْظٍ لِلْبُخَارِيِّ: { " فَائِت اَلَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ, وَكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينِكَ" } 2 .

Narrated 'Amr bin Shu'aib on his father's authority from his grandfather:
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "No descendant of Adam may make a vow concerning something he does not possess, or set free (a slave) that he does not possess, or divorce (a woman) whom he does not possess (in marriage)."
[Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi reported it; the latter graded it Sahih (authentic), and transmitted from al-Bukhari his statement that it is the most authentic Hadith on this subject].

Al-Barā' reported:
A man was reciting Sūrat Al-Kahf and his horse was tied with two ropes beside him. A cloud came down and spread over that man, and it kept on coming closer and closer to him till his horse started jumping (as if afraid of something). When it was morning, the man came to the Prophet, and told him of that experience. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "That was tranquility which descended because of (the recitation of) the Qur'an."

It was narrated from ʿĀ’ishah that when the Prophet ﷺ went to bed every night, he would hold his hands together and blow into them, and recite into them (by cupping his hands together) the last three chapters of the Qur'ān. Then he would wipe them over whatever he could of his body, starting with his head and face and the front of his body, and he would do that three times.

He said that Mu’adh would pray the evening prayer along with the Prophet, then return to his people and lead them in the evening prayer, it being a supererogatory prayer for him…* transmitted it.
* The source is not mentioned. In al-Masabih, where the division of the chapters is into traditions which are sahih and traditions which are hasan, the collection of Tradition from which they are taken is not mentioned, but all those in section I are meant to be taken from Bukhari, or Muslim, or both. I have failed to find this one anywhere. The concordance does not seem to refer to it.

Mishkat al-Masabih 3457, 3458
Abu Shuraih al-Ka'bi reported God’s Messenger as saying, “Then you, Khuza’a, have killed this man of Hudhail, but I swear by God that I will pay his blood wit. If anyone kills a man hereafter his people will have a choice, to kill him if they wish, or to accept blood wit if they wish."
Tirmidhi and Shafi‘i transmitted it. It occurs in Sharh as-sunna with his isnad, but it states clearly that it does not occur in the two Sahihs on the authority of Abu Shuraih, saying that they rendered it from Abu Huraira’s version, meaning something similar.*
*In Masabih as-sunna the tradition is given among the sound ones without any reference to its source. Here Sharh as-sunna is quoted to the effect that the above tradition is not given by Bukhari or Muslim, but that they give something similar on Abu Huraira’s authority. Section 1 is normally confined to traditions from Bukhari or Muslim, or from both, so it is strange to find that a tradition from another source is here preferred to theirs.
وَعَن أبي شُرَيحٍ الكعبيِّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:

Special Virtues of the Qur'an's Chapters and Verses 14
Abdullah b. Masʿūd (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever reads the last two verses from Sūrat al-Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.”

Regarding the word ‘sufficient’ in the hadith, Imam al-Nawawi (RA) says: It was said (by scholars) that it means it will suffice him from the night prayer, and others said it means as a protection against the devils, and yet others said it means protection against harmful animals, and it is likely encompassing of all these things (and more).”
Ibn Ḥajar states: “[It] was explicitly reported by ʿĀsim from ʿAlqamah from Ibn Masʿūd, “Whoever recites (the two verses at) the end of Sūrat al-Baqarah, it will be sufficient for him instead of standing in prayer for one night.”

Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah :
"We did not pledge to the Messenger of Allah (saws) for death, but only that we would not flee."
[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih, meaning both of the Ahadith are Sahih. Some of his Companions pledged to him for death, they said only: "We will not leave from in front of you as long as we are not killed." While others pledged him by saying: "We will not flee."

Mishkat al-Masabih 4619
Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying:
“While I was asleep I was brought the treasures of the earth, and two bracelets of gold which were placed in my hands weighed upon me. Then it was revealed to me that I should blow on them, and when I did so they departed. I interpreted them as representing the two liars between whom I am placed, the one in San'a' and the one in al-Yamama.”
(Bukhari and Muslim.)
A version says that one of them was Musailima,* the man in al-Yamama, and the other al-‘Ansi,** the man in San'a’. I (the translator) have not found this version in the two Sahihs, but the author of the Jami' mentioned it on Tirmidhi’s authority.
* He set himself up as a prophet.
** Al-Aswad al-'Ansi who attacked al-Muhajir b. Abu Umayya b. Al-Mughira, the Prophet’s agent sent to San'a' to collect sadaqat. He caused a considerable insurrection in the south.

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported:
Allah’s Messenger ﷺ ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramaḍān. Then somebody came to me and started stealing from the provisions. I caught him and said, "I will take you to Allah’s Messenger!"
Then Abu Hurayrah described the whole incident and said: That person said (to me), "Please don’t take me to Allah’s Messenger and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you. When you go to your bed, recite Āyat al-Kursī, for then there will be (with you) a guardian from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn." When the Prophet ﷺ heard about the incident he said (to me), "He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; it was a devil."

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar:
That the Messenger of Allah stopped in the valley that is in Dhul-Hulaifah and prayed there. (sahih)

Narrated 'Amr bin 'Auf al-Muzani (RA):
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Reconciliation is permissible between Muslims, except one which makes unlawful something which is lawful, or makes lawful something which is unlawful; and Muslims must abide by their conditions (which they have made), except for a condition which makes unlawful something which is lawful, or makes lawful something which is unlawful."
[at-Tirmidhi reported it and graded it Sahih (authentic)]. However, the Hadith scholars criticized him (for grading this Hadith as Sahih) because the narration of Kathir bin 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'Auf is weak. It is as though at-Tirmidhi considered it (reliable) due to its many chains of narration. Ibn Hibban declared the aforesaid Hadith to be Sahih (authentic) from the narration of Abu Hurairah (RA).
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ اَلْمُزَنِيِّ - رضى الله عنه - أَنَّ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -قَالَ: { اَلصُّلْحُ جَائِزٌ بَيْنَ اَلْمُسْلِمِينَ, إِلَّا صُلْحاً حَرَّمَ حَلَالاً وَ 1 أَحَلَّ حَرَاماً، وَالْمُسْلِمُونَ عَلَى شُرُوطِهِمْ, إِلَّا شَرْطاً حَرَّمَ حَلَالاً وَ 2 أَحَلَّ حَرَاماً } رَوَاهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَصَحَّحَهُ 3 . وَأَنْكَرُوا عَلَيْهِ; 4 . لِأَنَّ رَاوِيَهُ كَثِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِوِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ضَعِيفٌ 5 .
وَكَأَنَّهُ اِعْتَبَرَهُ بِكَثْرَةِ طُرُقِهِ 6 .
وَقَدْ صَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ حِبَّانَ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ 7 .

Abu Sa’id bin al-Mu’alla (RA) reported, “I was praying when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me and called me. I didn’t come to him until I finished praying. Then I came to him and he said, “What prevented you from coming? Didn’t Allah say, ‘O you who believe, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you’?” Then he said, “I shall teach you the greatest sūrah in the Qur’an before I leave.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ started to leave so I reminded him of it.” Mu’āth said, “Shu’bah narrated this to us from Khubayb, who heard from Hafs, who heard from Abu Sa’id, a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, “It is ‘Alhamdu lillāhi Rabbil ‘Ālameen (i.e., Sūrah Al-Fātiḥah) which is As-Sab’ Al-Mathāni (i.e., the seven oft-repeated āyāt).”

Sunan an-Nasa'i 4442
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said;
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say:
'May Allah curse the one who disfigures and animal. (Sahih )
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْمِنْهَالُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ
" لَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِالْحَيَوَانِ " .
