Sahih al-Bukhari 4321
Narrated Abu Qatada:
We set out along with the Prophet during the year of (the battle of) Hunain, and when we faced the enemy, the Muslims (with the exception of the Prophet and some of his companions) retreated (before the enemy). I saw one of the pagans over-powering one of the Muslims, so I struck the pagan from behind his neck causing his armor to be cut off. The pagan headed towards me and pressed me so forcibly that I felt as if I was dying. Then death took him over and he released me. Afterwards I followed `Umar and said to him, "What is wrong with the people?" He said, "It is the Order of Allah." Then the Muslims returned (to the battle after the flight) and (after overcoming the enemy) the Prophet sat and said, "Whoever had killed an Infidel and has an evidence to this issue, will have the Salb (i.e. the belonging of the deceased e.g. clothes, arms, horse, etc)." I (stood up) and said, "Who will be my witness?" and then sat down. Then the Prophet repeated his question. Then the Prophet said the same (for the third time). I got up and said, "Who will be my witness?" and then sat down. The Prophet asked his former question again. So I got up. The Prophet said, What is the matter, O Abu Qatada?" So I narrated the whole story; A man said, "Abu Qatada has spoken the truth, and the Salb of the deceased is with me, so please compensate Abu Qatada on my behalf." Abu Bakr said, "No! By Allah, it will never happen that the Prophet will leave a Lion of Allah who fights for the Sake of Allah and His Apostle and give his spoils to you." The Prophet said, "Abu Bakr has spoken the truth. Give it (the spoils) back to him (O man)!" So he gave it to me and I bought a garden in (the land of) Banu Salama with it (i.e. the spoils) and that was the first property I got after embracing Islam.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ، مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَامَ حُنَيْنٍ، فَلَمَّا الْتَقَيْنَا كَانَتْ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ جَوْلَةٌ، فَرَأَيْتُ رَجُلاً مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، قَدْ عَلاَ رَجُلاً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَضَرَبْتُهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ عَلَى حَبْلِ عَاتِقِهِ بِالسَّيْفِ، فَقَطَعْتُ الدِّرْعَ، وَأَقْبَلَ عَلَىَّ فَضَمَّنِي ضَمَّةً وَجَدْتُ مِنْهَا رِيحَ الْمَوْتِ، ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَهُ الْمَوْتُ فَأَرْسَلَنِي، فَلَحِقْتُ عُمَرَ فَقُلْتُ مَا بَالُ النَّاسِ قَالَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ. ثُمَّ رَجَعُوا وَجَلَسَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلاً لَهُ عَلَيْهِ بَيِّنَةٌ فَلَهُ سَلَبُهُ ". فَقُلْتُ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ لِي ثُمَّ جَلَسْتُ ـ قَالَ ـ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِثْلَهُ فَقُمْتُ فَقُلْتُ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ لِي ثُمَّ جَلَسْتُ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِثْلَهُ، فَقُمْتُ فَقَالَ " مَالَكَ يَا أَبَا قَتَادَةَ ". فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ. فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ صَدَقَ وَسَلَبُهُ عِنْدِي، فَأَرْضِهِ مِنِّي. فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لاَهَا اللَّهِ، إِذًا لاَ يَعْمِدُ إِلَى أَسَدٍ مِنْ أُسْدِ اللَّهِ يُقَاتِلُ عَنِ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَيُعْطِيَكَ سَلَبَهُ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " صَدَقَ فَأَعْطِهِ ". فَأَعْطَانِيهِ فَابْتَعْتُ بِهِ مَخْرَفًا فِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ، فَإِنَّهُ لأَوَّلُ مَالٍ تَأَثَّلْتُهُ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ.

Sunan Abi Dawud 2306
‘Ubaid Allah bin ‘Abd Allah bin ‘Utbah said that his father wrote (a letter) to ‘Abd Allaah bin Al Arqam Al Zuhri asking him to visit Subai’ah daughter of Al Harith Al Aslamiyyah and ask her about her story and what the Apostle of Allaah(saws) said to her when she asked his opinion (about her). So, ‘Umar bin Abd allah wrote in reply to ‘Abd Allah bin ‘Utbah informing him what she told him. She told that she was under (i.e., the wife of) Sa’d bin Khawlah who belonged to Banu Amir bin Luwayy. He was one of those who participated in the battle of Badr. He died at the Farwell Pilgrimage while she was pregnant. Soon after his death she gave birth to a child. When she was purified from her bleeding after child birth she adorned herself for seekers in marriage. Then Abu Al Sanabil bin Ba’kah a man from Banu Abd Al Dar entered upon her and said to her “What is the matter seeing you adorned, perhaps you are seeking marriage? I swear by Allah you cannot marry until four months and ten days pass away. Saubai’ah said “When she said this to me, I gathered my clothes on me when the evening came and I came to the Apostle of Allaah(saws) and asked him about that. He told me that I became lawful when I had delivered a child. He suggested me to marry if I wished. Ibn Shihab said “I do not see any harm if she marries when she gives birth to the child, even though she had the bleeding after the child birth, but her husband should not have sexual intercourse till she is purified.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَهْرِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ، كَتَبَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَرْقَمِ الزُّهْرِيِّ يَأْمُرُهُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ، عَلَى سُبَيْعَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ الأَسْلَمِيَّةِ فَيَسْأَلَهَا عَنْ حَدِيثِهَا وَعَمَّا قَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حِينَ اسْتَفْتَتْهُ فَكَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ يُخْبِرُهُ أَنَّ سُبَيْعَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْتَ سَعْدِ ابْنِ خَوْلَةَ - وَهُوَ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَىٍّ وَهُوَ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا - فَتُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَهِيَ حَامِلٌ فَلَمْ تَنْشَبْ أَنْ وَضَعَتْ حَمْلَهَا بَعْدَ وَفَاتِهِ فَلَمَّا تَعَلَّتْ مِنْ نِفَاسِهَا تَجَمَّلَتْ لِلْخُطَّابِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا أَبُو السَّنَابِلِ بْنُ بَعْكَكٍ - رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ - فَقَالَ لَهَا مَا لِي أَرَاكِ مُتَجَمِّلَةً لَعَلَّكِ تَرْتَجِينَ النِّكَاحَ إِنَّكِ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَنْتِ بِنَاكِحٍ حَتَّى تَمُرَّ عَلَيْكِ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرٌ . قَالَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ فَلَمَّا قَالَ لِي ذَلِكَ جَمَعْتُ عَلَىَّ ثِيَابِي حِينَ أَمْسَيْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَفْتَانِي بِأَنِّي قَدْ حَلَلْتُ حِينَ وَضَعْتُ حَمْلِي وَأَمَرَنِي بِالتَّزْوِيجِ إِنْ بَدَا لِي . قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَلاَ أَرَى بَأْسًا أَنْ تَتَزَوَّجَ حِينَ وَضَعَتْ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ فِي دَمِهَا غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لاَ يَقْرَبُهَا زَوْجُهَا حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ .

Sahih Muslim 60 b
It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Any person who called his brother: "O unbeliever" (has in fact done an act by which this unbelief) would return to one of them. If it were so, as he asserted (then the unbelief of man was confirmed but if it was not true), then it returned to him (to the man who labeled it on his brother Muslim).
وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" أَيُّمَا امْرِئٍ قَالَ لأَخِيهِ يَا كَافِرُ . فَقَدْ بَاءَ بِهَا أَحَدُهُمَا إِنْ كَانَ كَمَا قَالَ وَإِلاَّ رَجَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ " .

Sahih Muslim 150 a
Sa'd narrated it on the authority of his father (Abi Waqqas) that he observed:
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) distributed shares (of booty among his Companions). I said: Messenger of Allah! Give it to so and so, for verily he is a believer. Upon this the Apostle of Allah remarked: Or a Muslim. I (the narrator) repeated it (the word" believer" ) thrice and he (the Holy Prophet) turned his back upon me (and substituted the word)" Muslim," and then observed: I bestow it (this share) to a man out of apprehension lest Allah should throw him prostrate into the fire (of Hell) whereas in fact the other man is dearer to me than he.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَسْمًا فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْطِ فُلاَنًا فَإِنَّهُ مُؤْمِنٌ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَوْ مُسْلِمٌ " أَقُولُهَا ثَلاَثًا . وَيُرَدِّدُهَا عَلَىَّ ثَلاَثًا " أَوْ مُسْلِمٌ " ثُمَّ قَالَ " إِنِّي لأُعْطِي الرَّجُلَ وَغَيْرُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِنْهُ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَكُبَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي النَّارِ " .

Salim, the freed slave of Mahri, reported:
I and 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr went out (in order to join) the funeral procession of Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas and passed by the door of the residence of 'A'isha, and then he transmitted a hadith like this from her who (narrated it) from the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him).
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، وَأَبُو مَعْنٍ الرَّقَاشِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي - أَوْ، حَدَّثَنَا - أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ، مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ قَالَ خَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فِي جَنَازَةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى بَابِ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ فَذَكَرَ عَنْهَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِثْلَهُ .

This hadith is narrated on the same authority from A'mash by another chain of transmitters like one transmitted by Abu Mu'awyia. The hadith reported by 'Isa and Sufyan has these words also:
" This hadith surprised the friends of Abdullab'" for Jarir had embraced Islam after the revelation of al-Ma'ida.
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ التَّمِيمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، فِي هَذَا الإِسْنَادِ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي، حَدِيثِ عِيسَى وَسُفْيَانَ قَالَ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُعْجِبُهُمْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لأَنَّ إِسْلاَمَ جَرِيرٍ كَانَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ .

Sahih Muslim 390 b
Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), when he stood up for prayer, used to raise his hands apposite the shoulders and then recited takbir (Allah-o-Akbar), and when he was about to bow he again did like it and when he raised himself from the ruku' (bowing posture) he again did like it, but he did not do it at the time of raising his head from prostration.
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا قَامَ لِلصَّلاَةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى تَكُونَا حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَلاَ يَفْعَلُهُ حِينَ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السُّجُودِ .

lmrin b. Husain reported:
The Messenger of Allah (may peace beupon him) led us In Zuhr or 'Asr prayer (noon or the afternoon prayer). (On concluding it) he said: Who recited behind me (the verses): Sabbih Isma Rabbik al-a'la (Glorify the name of thy Lord, the Most High)? There upon a person said: It was I, but I in- tended nothing but goodness. I felt that some one of you was disputing with me in it (or he was taking out from my tongue what I was reciting), said the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ، قَالَ سَعِيدٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلاَةَ الظُّهْرِ - أَوِ الْعَصْرِ - فَقَالَ " أَيُّكُمْ قَرَأَ خَلْفِي بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى " . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا وَلَمْ أُرِدْ بِهَا إِلاَّ الْخَيْرَ . قَالَ " قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ بَعْضَكُمْ خَالَجَنِيهَا " .

'Imran b. Husain reported:
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed the Zuhr prayer and a person recited Sabbih Isma Rabbik al-a'la (Glorify the name of thy Lord, the Most High) behind him. When he (the Holy Pro- phet) concluded the prayer he said: Who amongst you recited (the above-mentioned verse) or who amongst you was the reciter? A person said: It was I. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) observed: I thought as if someone amongst you was disputing with me (in what I was reciting).
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ زُرَارَةَ بْنَ أَوْفَى، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ فَجَعَلَ رَجُلٌ يَقْرَأُ خَلْفَهُ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ " أَيُّكُمْ قَرَأَ " أَوْ " أَيُّكُمُ الْقَارِئُ " فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا . فَقَالَ " قَدْ ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ بَعْضَكُمْ خَالَجَنِيهَا " .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1831
Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:
Salim ibn Abdullah said: Abdullah ibn Umar used to do so, that is to say, he would cut the shoes of a woman who put on ihram; then Safiyyah, daughter of AbuUbayd, reported to him that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to her that the Messenger of Allah (saws) gave licence to women in respect of the shoes (i.e. women are not required to cut the shoes). He, therefore, abandoned it.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ لاِبْنِ شِهَابٍ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ - كَانَ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ - يَعْنِي يَقْطَعُ الْخُفَّيْنِ لِلْمَرْأَةِ الْمُحْرِمَةِ - ثُمَّ حَدَّثَتْهُ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَتْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ كَانَ رَخَّصَ لِلنِّسَاءِ فِي الْخُفَّيْنِ فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 2119
Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud:
When the Messenger of Allah (saws) recited the tashahhud....He then narrated the same tradition. In this version after the word "and His Apostle" he added the words: "He has sent him in truth as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner before the Hour. He who obeys Allah and His Prophet is on the right path, and he who disobeys them does not harm anyone except himself, and he does not harm Allah to the least.

" أَرْسَلَهُ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا بَيْنَ يَدَىِ السَّاعَةِ مَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ رَشَدَ وَمَنْ يَعْصِهِمَا فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَضُرُّ إِلاَّ نَفْسَهُ وَلاَ يَضُرُّ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا " .

Narrated Urwah:
I testify that the Messenger of Allah (saws) decided that the land is the land of Allah, and the servants are the servants of Allah. If anyone brings barren land into cultivation, he has more right to it.
This tradition has been transmitted to us from the Prophet (saws) by those who transmitted the traditions about prayer from him.

Narrated Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas:
The Messenger of Allah (saws) forbade to sell fresh dates for dry dates when payment is made at a later date.
Abu Dawud said: The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet (saws) through a different chain of narrators in a similar way.

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar ; Abdullah Ibn Abbas:
The Prophet (saws) said: It is not lawful for a man to make a donation or give a gift and then take it back, except a father regarding what he gives his child. One who gives a gift and then takes it back is like a dog which eats and vomits when it is full, then returns to its vomit.

" لاَ يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ عَطِيَّةً أَوْ يَهَبَ هِبَةً فَيَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلاَّ الْوَالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِي وَلَدَهُ وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي الْعَطِيَّةَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ يَأْكُلُ فَإِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ ثُمَّ عَادَ فِي قَيْئِهِ " .

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri:
The Prophet (saws) said: A man from the Illiyyun will look downwards at the people of Paradise and Paradise will be glittering as if it were a brilliant star.
He (the narrator) said: In this way the word durri (brilliant) occurs in this tradition, i.e. the letter dal (d) has short vowel u and it has no hamzah ('). AbuBakr and Umar will be of them and will have some additional blessings.

Narrated Abdur Rahman:
I asked Abu Sa'id al-Khudri about wearing lower garment. He said: You have come to the man who knows it very well. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: The way for a believer to wear a lower garment is to have it halfway down his legs and he is guilty of no sin if it comes halfway between that and the ankles, but what comes lower than the ankles is in Hell. On the day of Resurrection. Allah will not look at him who trails his lower garment conceitedly.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:
The Prophet (saws) ordered Umar ibn al-Khattab who was in al-Batha' at the time of the conquest (of Makkah) to visit the Ka'bah and obliterate all images in it. The Prophet (saws) did not enter it until all the images were obliterated.

Ibn `Abbas said :
The Messenger of Allah (SWAS) offered the noon prayer at Dhu al-Hulaifah. He then sent for a camel and made incision in the right side of its hump ; he then took out the blood by pressing it and tied two shoes in its neck. He then rode on his mount (camel) and reached al-Baida, he raised his voice for the talbiyah for performing Hajj.

Ibn Abi Laila said:
Whan Hudhaifah was in al-Mada’in, he asked for water. A peasant brought him a silver vessel. He threw it away and said: I threw it away, for I prohibited (him) but he did not stop. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) forbade to wear silk or brocade, and to drink from gold and silver vessels. He said: Others have them in this world and you will have them in the next.

" هِيَ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ " .

Mishkat al-Masabih 2755, 2756
A man of the family of al-Khattab reported the Prophet as saying, "He who purposely comes to visit me will be under my protection on the day of resurrection; he who lives in Medina and endures its difficulty will have me as a witness and intercessor on the day of resurrection; and he who dies in one of the two sacred territories will be raised by God on the day of resurrection among those who will be safe."
Ibn ‘Umar traced the following back to the Prophet, "He who performs the pilgrimage and visits my grave after my death will be like him who visited me in my lifetime." Baihaqi transmitted the two traditions in Shu’ab al-iman.

‘Abdallah b. ‘Umar told that when a man asked God’s messenger what clothing one who was on pilgrimage should wear, he said, “Do not wear shirts, turbans, trousers, garments with head coverings, or shoes, unless one cannot get sandals and wears shoes, in which case he must cut them to come below the ankles; and you must not wear clothing which has any dye of saffron or wars (A plant of a yellow colour in the Yemen, like sesame. The word is also used for the colouring matter which is shaken out when the dower opens)
Bukhari and Muslim. Bukhari added in a version, “A woman who is on pilgrimage must not be veiled, or wear gloves.”

Mishkat al-Masabih 1021
Imran b. Husain said that God’s Messenger prayed the afternoon prayer and gave the salutation at the end of three rak'as, then went into his house. A man called al-Khirbaq who had long arms got up and went to him, and addressing him mentioned to him what he had done. He came out angrily trailing his cloak, and when he came to the people he asked, “Is this man telling the truth?” When they told him that he was, he prayed a rak‘a, then gave the salutation, then made two prostrations, then gave the salutation.
Muslim transmitted it.
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ثَلَاثِ رَكَعَاتٍ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْخِرْبَاقُ وَكَانَ فِي يَدَيْهِ طُولٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ صَنِيعه فَخرج غَضْبَانَ يَجُرُّ رِدَاءَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ: «أَصَدَقَ هَذَا؟» . قَالُوا: نَعَمْ. فَصَلَّى رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ. رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Mishkat al-Masabih 1296
Abu Huraira said that God’s Messenger used to commend prayer at night in Ramadan, but did not command it as a duty. He would say, “If anyone prays during the night in Ramadan because of faith and seeking his reward from God, his former sins will be forgiven him.” When God’s Messenger died this was the practice, and it continued thus during Abu Bakr’s Caliphate and the early part of ‘Umar’s.
Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: (كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْغَبُ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَأْمُرَهُمْ فِيهِ بِعَزِيمَةٍ فَيَقُولُ: «مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ. فَتُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ والمر عَلَى ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ كَانَ الْأَمْرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فِي خِلَافَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَصَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَةِ عمر على ذَلِك» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

‘Umar b. al-Rhattab said:
I provided a man with a horse to ride in God’s path, but as the one who had it did not look after it well, I wanted to buy it and thought he would sell it at a cheap price. I therefore asked the Prophet, but he said,
“Do not buy it, and do not take back what you gave as sadaqa even if he gives it to you for a dirham, for the one who takes back what he gave as sadaqa is like a dog which returns to its vomit.”
A version has, “Do not take back what you gave as sadaqa, for the one who does so is like one who takes back what he has vomited.”

عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَأَضَاعَهُ الَّذِي كَانَ عِنْدَهُ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَشْتَرِيَهُ وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يَبِيعُهُ بِرُخْصٍ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «لَا تَشْتَرِهِ وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ وَإِنْ أَعْطَاكَهُ بِدِرْهَمٍ فَإِنَّ الْعَائِدَ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ» . وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: «لَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ فَإِنَّ الْعَائِدَ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ كالعائد فِي قيئه»

Mishkat al-Masabih 4273
Anas told that a domestic sheep was milked for God’s messenger and its milk was mixed with water from a well in Anas’s house. God’s messenger was then given a cup and drank, Abu Bakr being on his left and a nomadic Arab on his right. ‘Umar asked God’s messenger to give it to Abu Bakr, but he gave it to the nomadic Arab who was on his right saying, “He who is on the right, then he who is on his right.” A version has, “Those on the right, then those on their right; go to the right.”*
*This tradition indicates that people should band a drink to the one on their right irrespective of the relative importance of the people present. The tradition immediately following brings this out clearly.

Mishkat al-Masabih 3958
Ibn ‘Umar said:
God’s Messenger sent us with a detachment and the people wheeled round in flight, so when we came to Medina we hid in it thinking that we had become corrupted.1 Then we went to God’s Messenger and told him we were those who had fled, but he replied, “No, you are the ones who return to fight after wheeling away, and I am your main body.”2
1. Literally “had perished.” They thought that they had committed a serious sin by turning in flight.
2. The word fi’a is here used. The suggestion is that to withdraw to join one’s unit stationed in the rear is not flying from the enemy. Cf. Al-Qur’an; 8:16.
Tirmidhi transmitted it. Abu Dawud’s version has something similar. He said, “No, you are the ones who return to fight after wheeling away.” We then approached and kissed his hand, and he said, “I am the main body of the Muslims.”
وَعَن ابنِ عُمر قَالَ: بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَحَاصَ النَّاسُ حَيْصَةً فَأَتَيْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَاخْتَفَيْنَا بِهَا وَقُلْنَا: هَلَكْنَا ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُول الله نَحن الفارون. قَالَ: «بَلْ أَنْتُمُ الْعَكَّارُونَ وَأَنَا فِئَتُكُمْ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ. وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ نَحْوَهُ وَقَالَ: «لَا بَلْ أَنْتُمُ الْعَكَّارُونَ» قَالَ: فَدَنَوْنَا فَقَبَّلْنَا يَده فَقَالَ: «أَنا فِئَة من الْمُسْلِمِينَ»

Mishkat al-Masabih 4062
He told that one of the arguments put forward by 'Umar was that he said God’s Messenger received three things exclusively to himself:
the B. an-Nadir, Khaibar and Fadak.1 The B. an-Nadir property was kept wholly for his own purposes,2 Fadak for travellers, and Khaibar was divided by God’s Messenger into three sections, two for the Muslims and one as a contribution for his family. If anything remained after making the contribution to his family, he divided it among the poor Emigrants.
1. Fadak was near Khaibar. It capitulated without fighting.
2. This would include, besides personal needs, the cost of entertaining guests, providing weapons and animals, etc.
Abu Dawud transmitted it.
وَعنهُ قَالَ: كانَ فِيمَا احتجَّ فيهِ عُمَرُ أَنْ قَالَ: كَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثُ صَفَايَا بَنُو النَّضِيرِ وخيبرُ وفَدَكُ فَأَمَّا بَنُو النَّضِيرِ فَكَانَتْ حَبْسًا لِنَوَائِبِهِ وَأَمَّا فَدَكُ فَكَانَتْ حَبْسًا لِأَبْنَاءِ السَّبِيلِ وَأَمَّا خَيْبَرُ فَجَزَّأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَةٌ أَجزَاء: جزأين بينَ المسلمينَ وجزءً نَفَقَةً لِأَهْلِهِ فَمَا فَضُلَ عَنْ نَفَقَةِ أَهْلِهِ جَعَلَهُ بَيْنَ فُقَرَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ

Jubayr ibn Mut'im said that he heard 'Umar ibn al-Khattab say on the
minbar, "Learn your lineages so that you can maintain ties of kinship. By
Allah, if there are some bad feelings between a man and his brother and he
knows that there is kinship between him and that man, that will prevent him
from breaking with him."

Ibn Abi Nu'm said, "I was with Ibn 'Umar when a man asked him about the
blood of gnats. He asked, 'Where are you from?' 'From the people of Iraq,'
he replied. He said, 'Look at this man! He asks about the blood of gnats
when they murdered the grandson of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace! I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
say, 'They are my sweet basil in this world.'"

Al-Hasan reported that a man ordered one of his slaves to draw
water using one of his camels and the man fell asleep. The master came
with a torch and put it in his face and the slave fell into the well. In
the morning, the slave went to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab and 'Umar saw what
had happened to his slave and therefore 'Umar set him free."

Qabisa ibn Burma al-Asadi said, "I was with the Messenger of Allah,

of correctness in this world are the people of correctness in the Next
World. The people of the incorrect in this world are the people of the
incorrect in the Next World."

Yazid ibn Yabnus said, "We went to 'A'isha and said, 'Umm al-Mu'minin,
what was the character of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, like?' She replied, 'His character was the Qur'an. Can
you recite the sura entitled "The Believers"?' She said, 'Recite:
"It is
the believers who are successful: those who are humble in their prayer;
those who turn away from worthless talk; those who actively pay zakat;
those who guard their private parts." (23:1-5)' She said, 'That was the
character of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace.'"

'Imran ibn Abi Anas reported from a man of Aslam who was one of
the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,

Jabir reported:
"The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, said, 'If I will, I will prohibit my community, if Allah so wills,
from any of them taking the name Baraka (blessing), Nafi' (Helper) or Aflah
(Most Successful),' and I do not know if he said, Rafi' (one who elevates)
or not. Someone asks, 'Is Baraka (blessing) here?' and is told, 'He (or

حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: إِنْ عِشْتُ نَهَيْتُ أُمَّتِي، إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، أَنْ يُسَمِّي أَحَدُهُمْ بَرَكَةَ، وَنَافِعًا، وَأَفْلَحَ، وَلاَ أَدْرِي قَالَ: رَافِعًا أَمْ لاَ؟، يُقَالُ: هَا هُنَا بَرَكَةُ؟ فَيُقَالُ: لَيْسَ هَا هُنَا، فَقُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ.

Ibn 'Umar (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) said “Do you realize Ibn Umm ’Abd what the ruling of Allah is concerning those who rebel against the ruler in this Ummah?’ I said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best. ‘He said, “A wounded man among them is not to be given the last stroke (that kills him), their captive is not killed, the one who runs away is not followed and their booties are not divided (among other Muslims).” Related by Al-Bazzar and al-Hakim. The latter graded it as Sahih but he was mistaken as Kawthar bin Hakim (one of the narrators) is a rejected narrator.
وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ هَلْ تَدْرِي يَا اِبْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ, كَيْفَ حُكْمُ اَللَّهِ فِيمَنْ بَغَى مِنْ هَذِهِ اَلْأُمَّةِ?
", قَالَ: اَللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ: "لَا يُجْهَزُ عَلَى جَرِيحِهَا, وَلَا يُقْتَلُ أَسِيرُهَا, وَلَا يُطْلَبُ هَارِبُهَا, وَلَا يُقْسَمُ فَيْؤُهَا } رَوَاهُ اَلْبَزَّارُ و اَلْحَاكِمُ وَصَحَّحَهُ فَوَهِمَ; فَإِنَّ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ كَوْثَرَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ, وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ 1 .

Ibn ’Umar (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) never failed to say these words in the morning and the evening:
“O Allah! I ask you for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and my wealth. O Allah! Cover my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay. O Allah! Preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and from above, and I seek refuge with you lest I be swallowed up by the earth.” Related by An-Nasa’i and Ibn Majah. Al-Hakim graded it as Sahih.
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ -رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا- قَالَ: { لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَدَعُ هَؤُلَاءِ اَلْكَلِمَاتِ حِينَ يُمْسِي وَحِينَ يُصْبِحُ: اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ اَلْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي, وَدُنْيَايَ, وَأَهْلِي, وَمَالِي, اَللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي, وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي, وَاحْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ, وَمِنْ خَلْفِي, وَعَنْ يَمِينِي, وَعَنْ شِمَالِي, وَمِنْ فَوْقِي, وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي } أَخْرَجَهُ النَّسَائِيُّ, وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلْحَاكِمُ . 1 .

Abu Umāmah said he heard Allah’s Messenger ﷺ say, “Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah and Sūrah ale-Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Sūrah al-Baqarah, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.”

Al-Nawwās Ibn Sam’ān reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said “The Qur’an will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, along with its companions who used to act by it, at the front being Sūrah al-Baqarah and Al ‘Imran. He (the Messenger ﷺ) likened them (the two suwar) to three things which I did not forget. He said they will be like two clouds, or two black canopies with light between them, or like two flocks of birds in ranks pleading for one who recited them.

Mishkat al-Masabih 2862
Anas said that God's Messenger forbade the sale of grapes till they became black and the sale of grain till it had become hard. Thus Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud transmitted it from Anas. The addition which is in al-Masabih, viz., his saying that he forbade the sale of dates till they became ripe, occurs only in their version from Ibn ‘Umar who said that he forbade the sale of palm-trees till the fruit was ripe.
Tirmidhi said this is a hasan gharib tradition.
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْعِنَبِ حَتَّى يَسْوَدَّ وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَبِّ حَتَّى يَشْتَدَّ هَكَذَا. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ. وَالزِّيَادَة الَّتِي فِي المصابيح وَهُوَ قولُه: نهى عَن بيْعِ التَمْرِ حَتَّى تزهوَ إِنَّما ثبتَ فِي رِوَايَتِهِمَا: عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ النَّخْلِ حَتَّى تَزْهُوَ وَقَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَدِيث حسن غَرِيب

Mishkat al-Masabih 3204
'Umar b. al-Khattab said:
Do not go to extremes in giving women their dower, for if it represented honour in this world and piety in Gods sight, the one of you most entitled to do so would have been God's Prophet. I am not aware of God’s Messenger marrying any of his wives or giving any of his daughters in marriage for more than twelve uqiyas.
Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it.

Mishkat al-Masabih 3403
‘Abd ar-Rahman b. Abu ‘Amra al-Ansari told that his mother had intended to emancipate a slave, but she postponed it till the morning, and she died. ‘Abd ar-Rahman said he asked al-Qasim b. Muhammad whether it would benefit her if he emancipated the slave on her behalf, and al-Qasim told him that Sa'd b. ‘Ubada had gone to God’s Messenger saying his mother had died and asking whether it would benefit her if he set free a slave on her behalf, and that God’s Messenger had replied that it would.
Malik transmitted it.
عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ: أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَعْتِقَ فَأَخَّرَتْ ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَنْ تُصْبِحَ فَمَاتَتْ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ: فَقُلْتُ لِلْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ: أَيَنْفَعُهَا أَنْ أَعْتِقَ عَنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ الْقَاسِمُ: أَتَى سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ رَسُول الله صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ أُمِّي هَلَكَتْ فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا أَنْ أَعْتِقَ عَنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «نعم» . رَوَاهُ مَالك

Jabir b. Samura reported:
'Umar said to Sa'd: They complain against you in every matter, even in prayer. He (Sa'd) said: I prolong (standing) in the first two (rak'ahs) and shorten it in the last two, and I make no negligence in following the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). He ('Umar) remarked: This is what is expected of you, or, that is what I deemed of you.

I saw the Apostle (may peace be upon him) leading the people in prayer with Umima, daughter of Abu'l-'As and Zainab, daughter of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him), on his shoulder. When he bowed, he put her down, and when he got up after prostration, he lifted her again.

Sahih Muslim 914
'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed:
Verily the sun and the moon do not eclipse on account of the death or life of anyone. They are in fact the signs among the signs of Allah. So when you see them, observe prayer.
وَحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ، اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ
" إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لاَ يَخْسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلاَ لِحَيَاتِهِ وَلَكِنَّهُمَا آيَةٌ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا فَصَلُّوا " .

Sahih Muslim 931
Hisham b. 'Urwa narrated on the authority of his father that the saying of Ibn 'Umar, viz." The dead would be punished because of the lamentation of his family over him" was mentioned to 'A'isha. Upon this she said:
May Allah have mercy upon Abu 'Abd al-Rahman (the kunya of Ibn 'Umar) that he heard something but could not retain it (well). (The fact is) that the bier of a Jew passed before the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and (the members of his family) were waiting over him. Upon this he said: You are wailing and he is being punished.
وَحَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، - قَالَ خَلَفٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، - عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ قَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ . فَقَالَتْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ سَمِعَ شَيْئًا فَلَمْ يَحْفَظْهُ إِنَّمَا مَرَّتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ وَهُمْ يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ
" أَنْتُمْ تَبْكُونَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيُعَذَّبُ " .

Sahih Muslim 984 a
Ibn Umar said that Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) prescribed the payment of Zakat-ul-Fitr (on breaking the fast) of Ramadan for people, for every freeman, or slave, male and female among the Muslims-one sa' of dried dates, or one sa' of barley.

Abu Umama reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:
O son of Adam, it is better for you if you spend your surplus (wealth), but if you withhold it, it is evil for you. There is (however) no reproach for you (if you withhold means necessary) for a living. And begin (charity) with your dependents; and the upper hand is better than the lower hand.

Sa'd b. 'Ubaida reported that Ibn'Umar (Allah be pleased with both of them) heard a person saying:
This night is the midnight (of the month). Upon this he said to him: How do you know that it is the midnight (of the month), for I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: The month is thus and thus (and he pointed with his ten fingers twice) and thus (i. e. at the third time he pointed with all his fingers but withdrew or folded his thumb)?
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ، اللَّهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ، - رضى الله عنهما - رَجُلاً يَقُولُ اللَّيْلَةَ لَيْلَةُ النِّصْفِ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا يُدْرِيكَ أَنَّ اللَّيْلَةَ النِّصْفُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا " . وَأَشَارَ بِأَصَابِعِهِ الْعَشْرِ مَرَّتَيْنِ " وَهَكَذَا " . فِي الثَّالِثَةِ وَأَشَارَ بِأَصَابِعِهِ كُلِّهَا وَحَبَسَ أَوْ خَنَسَ إِبْهَامَهُ " .

Sahih Muslim 1126 d
Abdullah b. 'Umar (Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say about the day of Ashura:
It is a day on which the people of pre-Islamic days observed fast. So he who liked to fast on this day should do so, and he who liked to abandon it should abandon it. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with him) did not observe fast except when it coincided (with the days when he was in the habit of observing voluntary fasts during every month).
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَثِيرٍ - حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، - رضى الله عنهما - حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ فِي يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ
" إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ كَانَ يَصُومُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَصُومَهُ فَلْيَصُمْهُ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتْرُكَهُ فَلْيَتْرُكْهُ " . وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ - رضى الله عنه - لاَ يَصُومُهُ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُوَافِقَ صِيَامَهُ .

Sahih Muslim 1131 b
Abu Musa reported that the people of Khaibar (most of them were Jews) observed fast on the day of 'Ashura and they treated it as 'Id and gave their women ornaments and beautiful dresses to wear. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:
You (only) observe fast on this day.
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعُمَيْسِ، أَخْبَرَنِي قَيْسٌ، فَذَكَرَ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ وَزَادَ قَالَ أَبُو أُسَامَةَ فَحَدَّثَنِي صَدَقَةُ بْنُ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ كَانَ أَهْلُ خَيْبَرَ يَصُومُونَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ يَتَّخِذُونَهُ عِيدًا وَيُلْبِسُونَ نِسَاءَهُمْ فِيهِ حُلِيَّهُمْ وَشَارَتَهُمْ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" فَصُومُوهُ أَنْتُمْ " .

'A'isha reported:
If one amongst us had to break fasts (of Ramadan due to natural reasons, i. e. menses) during the life of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) she could not find it possible to complete them so long she had been in the presence of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) till Sha'ban commenced.
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْمَكِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، - رضى الله عنها - أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ إِنْ كَانَتْ إِحْدَانَا لَتُفْطِرُ فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَمَا تَقْدِرُ عَلَى أَنْ تَقْضِيَهُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ شَعْبَانُ .

'Imran b. Husain (Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said to a person:
Did you observe fast in the middle of this month. i. e. Sha'ban? He said: No. Thereupon he said to him: When it is the end of Ramadan, then observe fast for one day or two (Shu'ba had some doubt about it) but he said: I think that he has said: two days.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَخِي، مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، - رضى الله عنهما - أَنَّصلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ " هَلْ صُمْتَ مِنْ سِرَرِ هَذَا الشَّهْرِ شَيْئًا " . يَعْنِي شَعْبَانَ . قَالَ لاَ . قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ " إِذَا أَفْطَرْتَ رَمَضَانَ فَصُمْ يَوْمًا أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ " . شُعْبَةُ الَّذِي شَكَّ فِيهِ قَالَ وَأَظُنُّهُ قَالَ يَوْمَيْنِ .

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:
He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. it would be as if he fasted perpetually.

" مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَهُ سِتًّا مِنْ شَوَّالٍ كَانَ كَصِيَامِ الدَّهْرِ " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 86
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said:
"The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'There is no 'Adwa (contagion), no Tiyarah (evil omen) and no Hamah.' A Bedouin man stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a camel that suffers from mange and then all other camels get mange?' He said: 'That is because of the Divine Decree. How else did the first one get mange?'"
Note: The majority of scholars interpret this to mean that these things in and of themselves do not transmit or cause harm through supernatural or hidden means but that Allah is ultimately in control and any fearful superstition around these is false.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever calls the Adhan for seven years, seeking reward (from Allah), Allah will decree for him deliverance from the Fire.'"

Sunan Ibn Majah 1933
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar,:
from the Prophet, concerning a man who had a wife then divorced her, then another man married her but divorced her before consummating the marriage. Could she go back to the first man? He said: “No, not until he tastes her sweetness.”

" لاَ . حَتَّى يَذُوقَ الْعُسَيْلَةَ " .

Sunan Ibn Majah 1944
It was narrated that 'Aishah said:
“The Verse of stoning and of breastfeeding an adult ten times was revealed1, and the paper was with me under my pillow. When the Messenger of Allah died, we were preoccupied with his death, and a tame sheep came in and ate it.”
1: These verses were abrogated in recitation but not ruling. Other ahadith establish the number for fosterage to be 5.

Sunan Ibn Majah 2227
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:
"The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'Whoever buys food, let him not sell it until he has taken full possession of it.'" (Sahih) In his narration, (one of the narrators) Abu 'Awanah said: "Ibn 'Abbas said: 'I think everything is like food."'

'Aishah narrated that the Messenger of Allah(SAW) said:
“If a slave woman commits fornication then whip her, and if she commits fornication then whip her, and if she commits fornication then whip her, then sell her even if that is for a rope.”

" إِذَا زَنَتِ الأَمَةُ فَاجْلِدُوهَا فَإِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا فَإِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا فَإِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ بِيعُوهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ " . وَالضَّفِيرُ الْحَبْلُ .

It was
narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (saw)
said:
“There are no days in this world during which worship is more
beloved to Allah, Glorious is He, than the (first) ten days (of
Dhul-
Hijjah). Fasting one of these days is equivalent to fasting for
one
year, and one night of them is equal to Lailatul-Qadr.”

(saw) on a journey, and a camel ran away. A man shot an arrow at it

wild animal. If this happens to any of you, do likewise.’”

use dogs for?” Then he permitted them to keep farming dogs and dogs

‘Ein. Bundar said: “The ‘Ein refers to the walls of
Al-Madinah.”

It was
narrated from ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abi ‘Amrah, from a grandmother

his who was called Kabshah Al-Ansariyyah, that the Messenger of
Allah
(saw) entered upon her, and there was a water skin hanging
there. He
drank from it while standing, and she cut off the mouth of
the water
skin, seeking the blessing of the place where the mouth of
the
Messenger of Allah (saw) had been.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ جَدَّةٍ، لَهُ يُقَالُ لَهَا كَبْشَةُ الأَنْصَارِيَّةُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَعِنْدَهَا قِرْبَةٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهَا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فَقَطَعَتْ فَمَ الْقِرْبَةِ تَبْتَغِي بَرَكَةَ مَوْضِعِ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ .

narrated from ‘Atiyyah, that Abu Sa’eed said:
“The Messenger

Allah (saw) said: ‘Whoever lets his lower wrap drag out of pride,
Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.” He ( ‘Atiyyah) said "I met Ibn 'Umar in Al-Balaat so I mentioned Abu Sa'eed's hadith from the Prophet (saws). So he said and pointed to his ears 'My two ears heard it, and my heart preserved it.' "

قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ بِالْبَلاَطِ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ حَدِيثَ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَقَالَ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى أُذُنَيْهِ سَمِعَتْهُ أُذُنَاىَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي .

" لَبَّيْكَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجَّةٍ مَعًا " . وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ .

bin ‘Ajlan said:
“We performed Tawaf with Abu ‘Iqal in the
rain, and when we finished our Tawaf, we came behind the Maqam. He
said: I performed Tawaf with Anas bin Malik in the rain. When we
finished the Tawaf, we came behind the Maqam and prayed two Rak’ah.’
Anas said to us: ‘Start your deeds anew, for you have been
forgiven.
This is what the Messenger of Allah (saw) said to us when
we performed
Tawaf with him in the rain.’”

" ائْتَنِفُوا الْعَمَلَ فَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَكُمْ " . هَكَذَا قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَطُفْنَا مَعَهُ فِي مَطَرٍ .

another.”

prostrates then prostrate; if he prays standing, then pray standing,
and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.”

" إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا " .

Sa’d
bin Tariq said:
“I said to my father: ‘O my father! You prayed
behind the Messenger of Allah (saw) and behind Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and
‘Uthman, and behind ‘Ali here in Kufah for about five years. Did
they
recite Qunut in Fajr?’ He said: ‘O my son! That is an
innovation.’”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، وَحَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ، سَعْدِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي يَا أَبَتِ إِنَّكَ قَدْ صَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ وَعَلِيٍّ هَا هُنَا بِالْكُوفَةِ، نَحْوًا مِنْ خَمْسِ سِنِينَ. فَكَانُوا يَقْنُتُونَ فِي الْفَجْرِ؟ فَقَالَ: أَىْ بُنَىَّ مُحْدَثٌ .

It was
narrated from ‘Imran bin Husain:
“The Messenger of Allah (SAW)
said: ‘Your brother Najashi has died, so offer the funeral prayer
for
him.” Then he stood and we prayed behind him. I was in the
second row
and two rows prayed for him.”
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ
" إِنَّ أَخَاكُمُ النَّجَاشِيَّ قَدْ مَاتَ فَصَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ " . قَالَ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَهُ وَإِنِّي لَفِي الصَّفِّ الثَّانِي فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ صفَّين.

It was
narrated from ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah that the Prophet (SAW) said:
“When you see a funeral (procession) stand up for it until it has
passed by or it is placed on the ground.”

Sunan Ibn Majah 1582
It was
narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (SAW)
said:
“Wailing over the dead is one of the affairs of the Days of
Ignorance and if the woman who wails does not repent before she dies,
she will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection wearing a shirt of
pitch (tar), over which she will wear a shirt of flaming fire.”

" النِّيَاحَةُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَإِنَّ النَّائِحَةَ إِنْ لَمْ تَتُبْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَمُوتَ فَإِنَّهَا تُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَيْهَا سَرَابِيلُ مِنْ قَطِرَانٍ ثُمَّ يُعْلَى عَلَيْهَا بِدُرُوعٍ مِنْ لَهَبِ النَّارِ " .

“Kauthar is a river in Paradise whose banks are of gold and its
bed
is of rubies and pearls. Its soil is more fragrant than musk, its
water is sweeter than honey and whiter than snow.”

" الْكَوْثَرُ نَهَرٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ حَافَتَاهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ مَجْرَاهُ عَلَى الْيَاقُوتِ وَالدُّرِّ تُرْبَتُهُ أَطْيَبُ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ وَمَاؤُهُ أَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ وَأَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ الثَّلْجِ " .

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:
“Whoever unexpectedly comes across a person suffering a calamity, and says: Al-hamdu Lillahil-ladhi ‘afani mim-mabtalaka bihi, wa faddalani ‘ala kathirin mimman khalaqa tafdila (Praise is to Allah Who has kept me safe from that which has afflicted you and preferred me over many of those whom He has created), will be kept safe from that calamity, no matter what it is.’”

" مَنْ فَجِئَهُ صَاحِبُ بَلاَءٍ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلاَكَ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلاً - عُوفِيَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَلاَءِ كَائِنًا مَا كَانَ " .

Malik bin 'Aws bin al-Hadathan heard 'Umar bin al Khattab رضي الله عنه say:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said - and on one occasion Sufyan said: ['Umar] heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say “Gold for silver is riba unless it is exchanged on the spot [lit. ‘this for that'), wheat for wheat is riba unless it is exchanged on the spot, barley for barley is riba unless it is exchanged on the spot, dates for dates is riba unless it is exchanged on the spot.”

Umar said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: `Deeds are but by intentions and each
man will have but that which he intended. If a man's migration was for the sake of Allah, then his
migration was for that for which he migrated, but if his migration was to achieve some worldly aim
or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated.`

If it gets too crowded, then let one of you prostrate on his brother's back. And he saw people (on one occasion) praying in the street and said: Pray in the mosque,
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامٌ يَعْنِي أَبَا الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ سَيَّارِ بْنِ الْمَعْرُورِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَنَى هَذَا الْمَسْجِدَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ الزِّحَامُ فَلْيَسْجُدْ الرَّجُلُ مِنْكُمْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ أَخِيهِ وَرَأَى قَوْمًا يُصَلُّونَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَقَالَ صَلُّوا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ .

It was narrated from Harithah bin Mudarrib that he did Hajj with ‘Umar bin al Khattab (رضي الله عنه). The nobles of Syria came to him ['Umar) and said:
O Ameer al-Mu'mineen, we have acquired slaves and mounts, so take charity from our wealth in order to purify us thereby, and it will be zakah for us. He said: This is something that the two who came before me did not do; I shall wait until I ask the Muslims.
قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ، أَنَّهُ حَجَّ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَأَتَاهُ أَشْرَافُ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ فَقَالُوا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنَّا أَصَبْنَا مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا رَقِيقًا وَدَوَابَّ فَخُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُنَا بِهَا وَتَكُونُ لَنَا زَكَاةً فَقَالَ هَذَا شَيْءٌ لَمْ يَفْعَلْهُ اللَّذَانِ كَانَا مِنْ قَبْلِي وَلَكِنْ انْتَظِرُوا حَتَّى أَسْأَلَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ.

Malik bin Aws bin al-Hadathan said:
I exchanged some silver for gold with Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah, and he said: Wait for me until our storekeeper comes from al-Ghabah, `Umar bin al-Khattab heard that and said: No, by Allah! Do not leave him until you take your exchange from him, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: `Gold for silver is riba unless it is `here, take this` and `here, take this` [i.e., exchanged on the spot].”
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَوْسِ بْنِ الْحَدَثَانِ، قَالَ صَرَفْتُ عِنْدَ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ وَرِقًا بِذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ أَنْظِرْنِي حَتَّى يَأْتِيَنَا خَازِنُنَا مِنْ الْغَابَةِ قَالَ فَسَمِعَهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا تُفَارِقُهُ حَتَّى تَسْتَوْفِيَ مِنْهُ صَرْفَهُ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الذَّهَبُ بِالْوَرِقِ رِبًا إِلَّا هَاءَ وَهَاءَ.

Abu Dhibyan told us:
I heard ‘Abdullah bin az-Zubair say: Do not let your women wear silk, for I heard `Umar narrate from the Prophet (ﷺ) that he said: `Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.` And `Abdullah bin az-Zubair added his own words: And whoever does not wear it in the Hereafter will not enter Paradise. Allah says: “and their garments therein will be of silk` [Fatir 35:33].
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو ذِبْيَانَ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، يَقُولُ لَا تُلْبِسُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ الْحَرِيرَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ يَقُولُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَمْ يَلْبَسْهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ و قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَلْبَسْهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {وَلِبَاسُهُمْ فِيهَا حَرِيرٌ} .

Musnad Ahmad 355
It was narrated that Qatadah said:
I heard Rufai` Abul-`Aliyah narrate from Ibn ‘Abbas: A man told me - Shu’bah said: I think he said: one of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) - The most admired of therm to me is Umar bin al Khattab (رضي الله عنه): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade praying at two times: after `Asr until the sun sets and after Fajr until the sun rises.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رُفَيْعًا أَبَا الْعَالِيَةِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي رِجَالٌ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَأَعْجَبُهُمْ إِلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ فِي سَاعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ وَبَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ .

It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that he said:
The best of this ummah after its Prophet (ﷺ) is Abu Bakr, the best of it after Abu Bakr is `Umar; and if I wanted, I could name the third one.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، و عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، و عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَخَيْرُهَا بَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَلَوْ شِئْتُ سَمَّيْتُ الثَّالِثَ.

It was narrated that ‘Abeedah said:
‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) mentioned the people of an-Nahrawan. He said: Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear that from him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka`bah.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، قَالَ ذَكَرَ عَلِيٌّ أَهْلَ النَّهْرَوَانِ فَقَالَ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ مِنْهُ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ.

Musnad Ahmad 1020
It was narrated that Qais al-Kharifi said:
I heard ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came first, followed by Abu Bakr, and the third one was ‘Umar (رضي الله عنهما). Then turmoil (fitnah) struck us, and that is what Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, willed. Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman said; My father said regarding the words, then turmoil (fitnah) struck us. He [`Ali] was showing modesty thereby.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ الْخَارِفِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ سَبَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَثَلَّثَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ خَبَطَتْنَا أَوْ أَصَابَتْنَا فِتْنَةٌ فَمَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ جَلَالُهُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ أَبِي قَوْلُهُ ثُمَّ خَبَطَتْنَا فِتْنَةٌ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَوَاضَعَ بِذَلِكَ.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `O Allah, bless my ummah in its early mornings.`
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، وَرَوْحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ الْمُقْرِئُ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حِسَابٍ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي بُكُورِهَا.
