A man from Basrah said: Tell me what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (saws). He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say: No one will enter Hell who has prayed before the rising of the sun and before its setting (meaning the dawn and the afternoon prayers). He said three times: Have you heard it from him? He replied: Yes, each time saying: My ears heard it and my heart memorised it. The man then said: And I heard him (the Prophet) say that.

said When the Messenger of Allah(saws) sent Mu’adh to Yemen, he said to him You are going to a people who are people of the book. So call them to bear witness that there is no diety but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah. If they obey you in this respect, tell them that Allah has prescribed five prayers on them every day and night. If they obey you in this regard tell them that Allah has prescribed sadaqah(zakat) on their property and returned it to their poor. If they obey you in this respect, do not take the best of their property. Beware of the curse of the oppressed, for there is no curtain between it and Allah.

The Messenger of Allah(may peace be upon him)prescribed the sadaqah at the end of Ramadan one sa’. The narrator then transmitted the tradition like the one narrated by Malik. This version adds : “Young and old. He gave command that this should be paid before the people went out to prayers.”

Abu Dawud said : ‘Abd Allah al-‘Umari narrated it from Nafi’ through his chain : “on every Muslim.” The version of Sa’id al-Jumahi has : “Among the Muslims.” The well-known version transmitted by ‘Ubaid Allah does not mention the words “among the Muslims”

Anas ibn Malik reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "If anyone says the prayer on me once, Allah blesses him ten times and removes ten errors from him."

Samurah bin Jundub (RAA) narrated, ‘I offered the funeral prayer behind the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) for a woman who had died during child-birth and he (prayed) standing opposite the middle of her body.' Agreed upon.

In another narration, ‘He was told that people are finding it difficult to fast (during the journey) and they are waiting to see what the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) will do. So he called for a cup of water after the Asr (afternoon) prayer and drank it.’ Related by Muslim.

The Prophet (SAW) said, "The earliest time of prayer is what pleases Allah, the midtime is for the mercy of Allah and the latest time is what Allah pardons." [Reported by ad-Daraqutni with a very weak Sanad (chain)].

"it (the Khamisa) has distracted me from my prayer."

Ibn Majah reported the following from Jabir's narration, "A woman is never to lead a man in prayer, neither a bedouin (desert Arab) to lead an emigrant, nor a sinner to lead a believer." [Its chain of narrators is Wahin (extremely weak)].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) recited (from the Qur'an) in an audible voice in the prayer at an eclipse, and prayed two Rak'at in which he bowed four times and prostrated four times." [Agreed upon. This is the wording of Muslim].

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would recite, in the morning prayer of Jumu’ah (Friday), Sūrat as-Sajdah (32) in the first rakʿah, and Sūrat al-Insān (76) in the second rakʿah. Reference: Sahih Muslim 880b

When the last ten nights (of Ramadan) would begin, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) would keep awake at night (for prayer and devotion), awaken his family and prepare himself to be more diligent in worship.

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was asked: "At what time does the supplication find the greatest response?" He (PBUH) replied, "A supplication made during the middle of the last part of the night and after the conclusion of the obligatory prayers."

[At-Tirmidhi].

"Fatimah came to the Prophet (saas) to ask him for a servant, and he said: 'I do not have anything to give you.' So she went back, but after that he came to her and said: 'Is what you asked for dearer to you, or something better than that?' 'Ali said to her: 'Say: something better than that.' So she said it. He said: 'Say: Allahumma Rabbas-samawatis-Sab'i wa Rabbal-'Arshil-'Azim, Rabbana wa Rabba Kulli shay'in, munzil at-Tawrati wal-Injili wal-Qur'anil-'Azim. Antal-Awwalu fa laysa qablaka shay', wa Antal-Akiru fa laysa ba'daka shay', Antaz-Zahiru fa laysa fawqaka shay', wa Antal-Batinu fa laysa dunaka shay', Iqdi 'annad-daina wa aghnina minal-faqr (O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Mighty Throne, Our Lord, and the Lord of Everything, Revealer of the Tawrah, the Injil and the Magnificent Qur'an. You are the First and there is nothing after You; You are the Last and there is nothing after You. You are the Most High, and there is nothing above You, and You are the Most Near and there is nothing nearer than You. Settle our debts and make us free of want).'"

“I asked ‘Aishah: ‘O Mother of the Believers! Tell me about the Witr of the Messenger of Allah (saw).’ She said: ‘We used to keep his tooth stick and water for ablution ready for him. Allah would wake him as He willed to during the night, and he would use the tooth stick and perform ablution, then he would pray nine Rak’ah, during which he would not sit until the eighth Rak’ah. Then he would call upon his Lord and remember Allah and praise Him and supplicate to Him. Then he would get up without saying the Salam. Then he would stand up and pray the ninth Rak’ah. Then he would sit and remember Allah and praise Him, and supplicate to his Lord and send blessing upon His Prophet. Then he would say Salam that we could hear. Then he would pray two Rak’ah after the Salam, while he was sitting down. That was eleven Rak’ah. When the Messenger of Allah (saw) grew older and had gained weight, he would pray Witr with seven Rak’ah and then pray two more Rak’ah after he had said the Salam.’”

"He used to pray ten Rak'at (of prayer), and making it Witr by one Rak'at, and he used to pray the two (Sunnah) Rak'at of Fajr, so that it became thirteen Rak'at."

We went from al-Madinah to Makkah with Allah's Messenger (SAW) and he prayed two Rak'at at each time of prayer till we returned to al-Madinah. [Agreed upon, and the wording is al-Bukhari's].

He [Allah's Messenger (SAW)] used to recite in the two 'Eids and in the Friday prayer: "Sabbih isma Rabbikal-A'la (Surat 87)" and "Hal ataka hadithul-ghashiyah (Surat 88)." [Reported by Muslim].

“I have never heard anyone mention seeing the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) performing the mid¬morning ritual prayer except Umm Hani (may Allah the Exalted be well pleased with her). “She related that Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered her house on the Day of the Conquest of Mecca, whereupon he performed the major ritual ablution and glorified Allah in eight cycles. I never saw him (Allah bless him and give him peace) perform a ritual prayer in a more abbreviated form than that, even though he completed the bowing [ruku] and the prostration [sujud]!”

"I prayed (the night Tahajjud prayer) with Allah's Messenger (SAW) one night and I stood on his left side, whereupon he took me by the back of my head and made me go round to his right side. [Agreed upon].

Umm Salama informed 'Ata ibn Yasar that she served Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) a grilled flank, so he ate from it, then embarked on the ritual prayer and did not perform the minor ritual ablution.

'A'isha said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed the Duha prayer and then said, 'O Lord, forgive me and turn to me. You are the Ever-Turning back (to his slaves), the Merciful' a hundred times."

"When Allah's Messenger (SAW) offered the 'Asr (afternoon) prayer, he would visit his wives in turn, then come close to them (kiss or hug them)." [The narrator reported the rest of the Hadith previous].

Bilal called for prayer before dawn and the Prophet (SAW) told him to return and announce: "Lo! the slave of Allah (i.e. Bilal) had slept (hence this mistake)". [Reported by Abu Dawud, and graded as Da'if (weak)].

The Prophet (SAW) recited Qunut (supplication in the prayer) for one month after (rising up from the) bowing (position), invoking curse on some Arab tribes. Afterwards, he gave it up. [Agreed upon].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "O people of the Qur'an! Offer Witr (prayer), because Allah is Witr (One) and loves Witr." [Reported by al-Khamsah and Ibn Khuzaimah graded it Sahih (authentic)].

While on a journey, the Prophet (SAW) used to shorten the prayer (sometimes) and offer it completely (sometimes). Similarly, he used to observe fast (sometimes) and break it (sometimes). [ad-Daraqutni reported it, and its narrators are reliable, but it is a defective Hadith].

We used to offer the Friday prayer with Allah's Messenger (RA) and return (to our homes) while the walls had no shade for us to go under (at that time). [Agreed upon. This is the wording of al-Bukhari].

“Whoever reads Āyatul Kursī at the end of (after) each mandatory prayer, nothing prevents him from entering paradise except death.” Reference: Sunan an-Nasāʾī al-Kubrā, no. 9848, and al-Ṭabarānī, no. 7532.

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "The (voluntary) night prayers are two Rak'at, two Rak'at (in pairs), and if one fears that the dawn prayer is due, he should then offer one Rak'at which will make what he has prayed an odd number." [Agreed upon).

"He used to perform four cycles of ritual prayer before noon", and he mentioned that Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to perform them at the time of the sun's zenith, and he used to prolong them.

when the call to prayer has been given and when in battle ranks in the Cause of Allah."

Talhah bin ‘AbduIlah bin ‘Auf (RAA) narrated, ‘I offered a funeral prayer led by Ibn ‘Abbas. He recited al-Fatihah and said, ‘You should know that it (reciting al-Fatihah) is a Sunnah of the Prophet (P.B.U.H.).’ Related by Al-Bukhari.

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer, nothing but death will prevent him from entering Paradise." [An-Nasa'i reported it, and Ibn Hibban graded it Sahih (authentic).

The Prophet (SAW) said, "There is no (prostrations of) forgetfulness for one who is led (in prayer) by an Imam, but when the Imam forgets, both should then make prostrations due to forgetfulness." [al-Bazzar and al-Baihaqi reported it through a weak chain of narrators].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "If any of you prays the two Rak'at before the dawn prayer, he should lie on his right side." [Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, the latter graded it Sahih (authentic)].

Allah's Messenger (SAW) prayed during the month of Ramadan. Then they (the Sahabah) waited for him on the following night, but he did not come out and he said, "I feared that the Witr (prayer) might be prescribed for you." [Reported by Ibn Hibban].

Whenever Allah's Messenger (SAW) stood for Salat (prayer), he used to say: "I have turned my face (as a monotheist) towards Him who created the heavens and the earth and I am not from the polytheists. My prayer and my devotion, my life and my death belong to Allah, the Lord of the universe, Who has no partner. That is what I have been commanded, and I am a Muslim. O Allah, You are the King. There is nothing which deserves to be worshipped but You. You are my Rabb (Lord) and I am Your slave. I have wronged myself, but I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me all my sins, You alone can forgive sins; and guide me to the best qualities, You alone can guide to the best of them: and turn me from evil ones, You alone can turn from evil qualities. I come to serve and please You. All good is in Your Hands and evil does not pertain to You. I seek refuge in You and turn to You, You are the Blessed and the Exalted. I ask Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance." [Reported by Muslim].

“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to devote himself to four cycles [of ritual prayer] at high noon, so I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you devote yourself to these four cycles at high noon!’ He explained: ‘The gates of heaven are opened at high noon, then they are unlocked until the midday ritual prayer is performed, so I love to have a good deed ascend on my behalf during that time!’ I said: ‘Is there a Qur’anic recitation in each of them [the four cycles]?’ He said: ‘Yes!’ I said: ‘Do they contain a separating salutation of peace?’ He said: ‘No!'”

Another chain reports a similar narration.

'Abdullah ibn as-Samit said, "I questioned my close friend Abu Dharr who said, 'I brought some water for wudu' to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He shook his head and bit his lip. I said, "May my father and mother be your ransom, have I injured you?" "No," he replied, "but you will meet amirs ? or imams ? who will delay the prayer until it is past its time." "So what do you command me to do?" I asked. He replied, "Pray the prayer at the proper time. If you come across them, then pray with them and do not say, 'I have already prayed, so I will not pray again.'"'"

La ilaha ill-Allahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahulhamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shai'in Qadir (There is nothing which deserves to be worshipped except Allah Alone Who has no partner; to Him belongs the kingdom, to Him praise is due, and He has power over everything), his sins will be forgiven, even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea." [Reported by Muslim].

Alḥamdulillahi waḥdah waṣ-ṣalatu was-salam `alā man lā nabiyya ba`dah. All praise is due to Allah alone, and peace and blessings be upon him after whom there is no other Prophet. Reference: Anas (RA) said that he heard the Prophet (SAW) say: "That I sit with people remembering Almighty Allah from the morning (Fajr) prayer until sunrise is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from among the Children of Isma'il. That I sit with people remembering Allah from the afternoon ('Asr) prayer, until the sun sets, is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from among the Children of Isma'il." This was reported by Abu Dawud (no. 3667). Al-Albani graded it good in Sahih Abu Dawud 2/698.

During the lifetime of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) the women having bleeding after delivery (postnatal or puerperal blood) would refrain (from prayer) for forty days. [Reported by Al-Khamsa except An-Nasa’i, and the version is that of Abu Da’ud].

I saw Bilal calling for prayer and I would follow (looking at) his mouth (as he turned it) this (right) side and that (left) side with his fingers in his ears. [Reported by Ahmad and at-Tirmidhi who graded it Sahih (authentic)].

I heard Allah's Messenger (SAW) say, "That time is between the time when the Imam sits down and the end of the prayer." [Reported by Muslim. ad-Daraqutni held that the stronger view is that it is the saying of Abu Burdah].

We were commanded to bring out on 'Eidul-Fitr and 'Eidul-Adha, the young women and the menstruating women to participate in the goodness and supplications of the Muslims. However, the menstruating women would refrain from the (actual) place of prayer. [Agreed upon].

The Prophet (PBUH) used to engage himself in I'tikaf (seclusion for prayers) in the mosque during the last ten nights of Ramadan till he passed away; thereafter, his wives followed this practice after him.

Once, towards the end of his life, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) concluded the 'Isha' (night) prayer and said, "After one hundred years from tonight none of the people on the surface of the earth will survive."

[Al- Bukhari and Muslim].

sadaqa which continues to be supplied, or knowledge from which benefit continues to be reaped, or the prayers of a good son for his dead father.” Muslim transmitted it.
