Mishkat al-Masabih 4421
Ibn ‘Umar reported God’s messenger as saying, "Do the opposite of what the polytheists do ; let the beard grow long and clip the moustache.” A version has, “Cut the moustache down and leave the beard.”
(Bukhari and Muslim.)
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
" خَالِفُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ: أَوْفِرُوا اللِّحَى وَأَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ ". وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: «أنهكوا الشَّوَارِب وأعفوا اللحى»

Sunan an-Nasa'i 5226
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that:
The Prophet [SAW] said: "Trim the mustache and let the beard grow."
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ
" أَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى " .

Ibn Umar said:
The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard grow.

Narrated Ibn `Umar:
Allah's Apostle said, "Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard (as it is).
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" انْهَكُوا الشَّوَارِبَ، وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى ".

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2763
Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Trim the mustache and leave the beard to grow."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلاَّلُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" أَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Ibn 'Umar said:
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Let the beard grow and trim the mustache.'"
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" أَعْفُوا اللِّحَى وَأَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ " .
