Sahih Muslim 1577 b
Rumaid reported that Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him) has asked about the earnings of a cupper. Then (the above-mentioned hadith was reported but with this addition) that he said:
The best treatment which you get is cupping. or aloeswood and do not torture your children by pressing their uvula.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ، - يَعْنِي الْفَزَارِيَّ - عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ، فَذَكَرَ بِمِثْلِهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ " إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ وَلاَ تُعَذِّبُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالْغَمْزِ " .

Narrated Anas:
that he was asked about the wages of the one who cups others. He said, 'Allah's Apostle was cupped by `Abd Taiba, to whom he gave two Sa of food and interceded for him with his masters who consequently reduced what they used to charge him daily. Then the Prophet s said, "The best medicines you may treat yourselves with are cupping and sea incense.' He added, "You should not torture your children by treating tonsillitis by pressing the tonsils or the palate with the finger, but use incense."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُقَاتِلٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَجْرِ الْحَجَّامِ، فَقَالَ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَجَمَهُ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ، وَأَعْطَاهُ صَاعَيْنِ مِنْ طَعَامٍ، وَكَلَّمَ مَوَالِيَهُ فَخَفَّفُوا عَنْهُ، وَقَالَ " إِنَّ أَمْثَلَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ ". وَقَالَ " لاَ تُعَذِّبُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالْغَمْزِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْقُسْطِ ".

Sahih Muslim 1577 a
It is narrated on the authority of Humaid that Anas b. Malik was asked about the earnings of the cupper. He said:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) got himself cupped. His cupper was Abu Taiba and he (the Holy Prophet) commanded to give him two sa's of corn. He (the Holy Prophet) talked with the members of his family and they lightened the burden of Kharaj (tax) from him (i. e. they made remis- sion in the charges of their own accord). He (Allah's Apostle) said: The best (treat- ment) which you take is cupping, or it is the best of your treatments.

The Prophet was cupped and he paid the wages to the one who had cupped him and then took Su'ut (Medicine sniffed by nose).

When the Prophet was cupped, he paid the man who cupped him his wages. If it had been undesirable he would not have paid him.

Anas bin Malik was asked whether they disliked the cupping for a fasting person. He replied in the negative and said, "Only if it causes weakness."

Narrated Anas:
"The Messenger of Allah (saws) was cupped. Abu Talhah did the cupping. So he ordered that he be given two Sa' of food, and he spoke to his masters to reduce his taxes. He said: 'The most virtuous of what you treat with is cupping.' Or, he said: 'The best of your treatments is cupping.'"
[He said:] There are narrations on this topic from 'Ali, Ibn 'Abbas, and Ibn 'Umar.
[Abu 'Eisa said:] The Hadith of Anas is a Hasan Sahih. Some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet (saws), and others permitted paying the cupper. This is the view of Ash-Shafi'i.

Ibn 'Abbas reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) got himself cupped and gave to the cupper his wages and he put the medicine in the nostril.

Rafi b. Khadij (Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: The worst earning is the earning of a prostitute, the price of a dog and the earning of a cupper.
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " شَرُّ الْكَسْبِ مَهْرُ الْبَغِيِّ وَثَمَنُ الْكَلْبِ وَكَسْبُ الْحَجَّامِ " .

The price of a dog is evil, the earning of a prostitute is evil and the earning of a cupper is evil.

Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) threw stones at Jamrat al-'Aqaba. He then want to his sacrificial animal and sacrificed it, and there was sitting the barber, and he pointed with his hand towards his head, and he shaved the right half of it, and he (the Holy Prophet) distributed them (the hair) among those who were near him. And he again said:
Shave the other half, and said: Where is Abu Talha and gave it (the hair) to him.
وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ، بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْبُدْنِ فَنَحَرَهَا وَالْحَجَّامُ جَالِسٌ وَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ فَحَلَقَ شِقَّهُ الأَيْمَنَ فَقَسَمَهُ فِيمَنْ يَلِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ " احْلِقِ الشِّقَّ الآخَرَ " . فَقَالَ " أَيْنَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ " . فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ .

Jabir reported that Umm Salama sought permission from Allah's messenger (may Allah's peace upon him) tor getting herself cupped. The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) asked Abu Taiba to cup her. He (Jabir) said:
I think he (Abu Taiba) was her faster brother or a young boy before entering upon the adolescent period.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ
أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، اسْتَأْذَنَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الْحِجَامَةِ
فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَبَا طَيْبَةَ أَنْ يَحْجُمَهَا . قَالَ حَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ أَخَاهَا
مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَوْ غُلاَمًا لَمْ يَحْتَلِمْ .

Mishkat al-Masabih 4573
Nafi' said Ibn ‘Umar told him he was suffering from blood pressure and asked him to bring him a cupper, telling him to be sure to bring a young man and see that he brought neither an old man nor a boy. And Ibn ‘Umar said he had heard God’s messenger say:
“Cupping before food is best; it increases the intelligence, increases the memory and increases the memory of one who has a good memory. He who has himself cupped should choose Thursday, doing it in the name of God most high; but avoid cupping on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Get yourselves cupped on Monday and Tuesday, but avoid cupping on Wednesday for it is the day when Job was smitten with affliction. Tubercular leprosy and leprosy make their appearance only on Wednesday or Tuesday night.”
Ibn Majah transmitted it.
وَعَن نافعٍ قَالَ: قَالَ ابنُ عمر: يَا نَافِع يَنْبغ بِي الدَّمُ فَأْتِنِي بِحَجَّامٍ وَاجْعَلْهُ شَابًّا وَلَا تَجْعَلهُ شَيخا وَلَا صَبيا. وَقَالَ ابْنِ عُمَرُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الْحِجَامَةُ عَلَى الرِّيقِ أَمْثَلُ وَهِيَ تُزِيدُ فِي الْعَقْلِ وَتُزِيدُ فِي الْحِفْظِ وَتُزِيدُ الْحَافِظَ حِفْظًا فَمَنْ كَانَ مُحْتَجِمًا فَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ عَلَى اسْمِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَاجْتَنِبُوا الْحِجَامَةَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَيَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَيَوْمَ الْأَحَدِ فَاحْتَجِمُوا يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمَ الثُّلَاثَاءِ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الْحِجَامَةَ يَوْمَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي أُصِيبَ بِهِ أَيُّوبُ فِي الْبَلَاءِ. وَمَا يَبْدُو جُذَامٌ وَلَا بَرَصٌ إِلَّا فِي يَوْمِ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ أَوْ لَيْلَةِ الأربعاءِ» . رَوَاهُ ابنُ مَاجَه

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2053
Abbad bin Mansur narrated from 'Ikrimah who said:
"Ibn 'Abbas had three boys who were cuppers. He would use the proceeds from two of them for himself and his family, and one of them would cup him and his family." He said: " Ibn 'Abbas said: 'The Prophet (S.A.W) said: 'How excellent is the slave who cups, letting the blood, relieving the back, and clearing the vision." And he said: "Indeed the best for you to cup on are the seventeenth, the nineteenth, and the twenty-first." And he said: "Indeed the best of what you treat is As-Sa'ut, Al-Ladud, cupping and laxatives." And indeed, The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) was given medicine by Al-Abbas and his companions. So the The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: "Who gave me this medicine?" All of them were silent, so he said that there shall not remain anyone in the house but he should be treated with Ladud except for his uncle Al-Abbas.'" An-Nadr said: "Al-Ladud is Al-Wajur."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ، يَقُولُ كَانَ لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ غِلْمَةٌ ثَلاَثَةٌ حَجَّامُونَ فَكَانَ اثْنَانِ مِنْهُمْ يُغِلاَّنِ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى أَهْلِهِ وَوَاحِدٌ يَحْجُمُهُ وَيَحْجُمُ أَهْلَهُ . قَالَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ الْحَجَّامُ يُذْهِبُ الدَّمَ وَيُخِفُّ الصُّلْبَ وَيَجْلُو عَنِ الْبَصَرِ " . وَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حِينَ عُرِجَ بِهِ مَا مَرَّ عَلَى مَلإٍ مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ إِلاَّ قَالُوا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحِجَامَةِ . وَقَالَ " إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَا تَحْتَجِمُونَ فِيهِ يَوْمَ سَبْعَ عَشَرَةَ وَيَوْمَ تِسْعَ عَشَرَةَ وَيَوْمَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ " . وَقَالَ " إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ السَّعُوطُ وَاللَّدُودُ وَالْحِجَامَةُ وَالْمَشِيُّ " . وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَدَّهُ الْعَبَّاسُ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ لَدَّنِي فَكُلُّهُمْ أَمْسَكُوا فَقَالَ " لاَ يَبْقَى أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ فِي الْبَيْتِ إِلاَّ لُدَّ " . غَيْرَ عَمِّهِ الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ عَبْدٌ قَالَ النَّضْرُ اللَّدُودُ الْوَجُورُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ .

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1277
Narrated Ibn Muhayyisah of Banu Harithah:
From his father, that he sought permission from the Prophet (saws) to take the wages for cupping and he (saws) forbade him from it. He continued asking him and seeking his permission until he said: "Use it to give fodder to your water-carrying camels, and to feed your slaves."
[He said:] There are narrations on this topic from Rafi' bin Khadij, Abu Juhaifah, Jabir, and As-Sa'ib bin Yazid.
[Abu 'Eisa said:] The Hadith of Muhayyisah is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. This is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge. Ahmad said: "If I am asked for something by cupper then I deny him, acting upon this Hadith."
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيِّصَةَ، أَخِي بَنِي حَارِثَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ اسْتَأْذَنَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي إِجَارَةِ الْحَجَّامِ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَسْأَلُهُ وَيَسْتَأْذِنُهُ حَتَّى قَالَ " اعْلِفْهُ نَاضِحَكَ وَأَطْعِمْهُ رَقِيقَكَ " . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ وَأَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ وَجَابِرٍ وَالسَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ مُحَيِّصَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ . وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ . وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ إِنْ سَأَلَنِي حَجَّامٌ نَهَيْتُهُ وَآخُذُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .

It was narrated that Waqi bin Khadij said:
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The worst of earnings arte the gift of a female fornicator, the price of a dog and the earnings of a cupper.""

Sunan Ibn Majah 3488
It was
narrated that Nafi’ said:
“Ibn ‘Umar said: ‘O Nafi’! The
blood
is boiling in me. Bring me a cupper and let him be a young man,
not an
old man or a boy.’ Ibn ‘Umar said: ‘I heard the
Messenger of Allah
(saw) say: “Cupping on an empty stomach is
better, and it increases
one’s intellect and memory. And it
increases the memory of one who has
a good memory so whoever wants to
be cupped, (let him do it) on a
Thursday, in the Name of Allah. Avoid
cupping on Fridays, Saturdays
and Sundays. Have yourselves cupped on
Mondays and Tuesdays, and avoid
cupping on Wednesdays, for that is
the day on which the calamity
befell Ayyub, and leprosy and
leucoderma only appear on Wednesday or
the night of Wednesday.”
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى الْحِمْصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عِصْمَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَا نَافِعُ تَبَيَّغَ بِيَ الدَّمُ فَأْتِنِي بِحَجَّامٍ وَاجْعَلْهُ شَابًّا وَلاَ تَجْعَلْهُ شَيْخًا وَلاَ صَبِيًّا . قَالَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَقُولُ " الْحِجَامَةُ عَلَى الرِّيقِ أَمْثَلُ وَهِيَ تَزِيدُ فِي الْعَقْلِ وَتَزِيدُ فِي الْحِفْظِ وَتَزِيدُ الْحَافِظَ حِفْظًا فَمَنْ كَانَ مُحْتَجِمًا فَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ عَلَى اسْمِ اللَّهِ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الْحِجَامَةَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَيَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَيَوْمَ الأَحَدِ وَاحْتَجِمُوا يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالثُّلاَثَاءِ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الْحِجَامَةَ يَوْمَ الأَرْبِعَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي أُصِيبَ فِيهِ أَيُّوبُ بِالْبَلاَءِ وَمَا يَبْدُو جُذَامٌ وَلاَ بَرَصٌ إِلاَّ فِي يَوْمِ الأَرْبِعَاءِ أَوْ لَيْلَةِ الأَرْبِعَاءِ " .

Mishkat al-Masabih 4473
He said the Prophet used to apply antimony three times in each eye before going to sleep, and reported him as saying, “The best medicines you apply are those sipped at the corners of the mouth, those snuffed up the nose, cupping, purgatives; the best thing you apply to your eyes is antimony, for it clears the sight and makes the hair grow ; and the best days for cupping are the seventeenth, nineteenth and twenty-first.” When God’s messenger was taken up to visit heaven every company of angels he passed said, “Keep up the practice of cupping.”
Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a hasan gharib tradition.
وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكْتَحِلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ بِالْإِثْمِدِ ثَلَاثًا فِي كُلِّ عَيْنٍ قَالَ: وَقَالَ: «إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ اللَّدُودُ وَالسَّعُوطُ وَالْحِجَامَةُ وَالْمَشِيُّ وَخَيْرَ مَا اكْتَحَلْتُمْ بِهِ الْإِثْمِدُ فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ وَإِنَّ خَيْرَ مَا تَحْتَجِمُونَ فِيهِ يَوْمُ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَيَوْمُ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَيَوْمُ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ» وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَيْثُ عُرِجَ بِهِ مَا مَرَّ عَلَى مَلَأٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ إِلَّا قَالُوا: عَلَيْكَ بِالْحِجَامَةِ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that his father used to be cupped while he was fasting and he would not then break his fast. Hisham added, "I only ever saw him being cupped when he was fasting."
Malik said, "Cupping is only disapproved of for some one who is fasting out of fear that he will become weak and if it were not for that, it would not be disapproved of. I do not think that a man who is cupped in Ramadan and does not break his fast, owes anything, and I do not say that he has to make up for the day on which he was cupped, because cupping is only disapproved of for someone fasting if his fast is endangered. I do not think that someone who is cupped, and is then well enough to keep the fast until evening, owes anything, nor does he have to make up for that day."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَحْتَجِمُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ثُمَّ لاَ يُفْطِرُ . قَالَ وَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ احْتَجَمَ قَطُّ إِلاَّ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ . قَالَ مَالِكٌ لاَ تُكْرَهُ الْحِجَامَةُ لِلصَّائِمِ إِلاَّ خَشْيَةً مِنْ أَنْ يَضْعُفَ وَلَوْلاَ ذَلِكَ لَمْ تُكْرَهْ وَلَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً احْتَجَمَ فِي رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ سَلِمَ مِنْ أَنْ يُفْطِرَ لَمْ أَرَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا وَلَمْ آمُرْهُ بِالْقَضَاءِ لِذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي احْتَجَمَ فِيهِ لأَنَّ الْحِجَامَةَ إِنَّمَا تُكْرَهُ لِلصَّائِمِ لِمَوْضِعِ التَّغْرِيرِ بِالصِّيَامِ فَمَنِ احْتَجَمَ وَسَلِمَ مِنْ أَنْ يُفْطِرَ حَتَّى يُمْسِيَ فَلاَ أَرَى عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ قَضَاءُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ .

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:
The Messenger of Allah (saws) got him self cupped and gave the cupper his wages. Had he considered it impure, he would not have given it (wage) to him.

وَحَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، نا مُحَمَّدٌ ، نا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ النَّاجِي ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا كَرِهْتُ الْحِجَامَةَ لِلصَّائِمِ مَخَافَةَ الضَّعْفِ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : فَخَبَرُ قَتَادَةَ ، وَخَبَرُ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، وَالضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ دَالانِ عَلَى أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ لَمْ يَحْكِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرُّخْصَةَ فِي الْحِجَامَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ ، إِذْ غَيْرُ جَائِزٍ أَنْ يَرْوِيَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ فِي الْحِجَامَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ ، وَيَقُولَ : كَانُوا يَكْرَهُونَ ذَلِكَ مَخَافَةَ الضَّعْفِ . إِذْ مَا قَدْ أَبَاحَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِبَاحَةً مُطْلَقًا لا اسْتِثْنَاءً ، وَلا شَرِيطَةً ، فَمُبَاحٌ لِجَمِيعِ الْخَلْقِ ، غَيْرُ جَائِزٍ أَنْ يُقَالَ : أَبَاحَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْحِجَامَةَ لِلصَّائِمِ ، وَهُوَ مَكْرُوهٌ مَخَافَةَ الضَّعْفِ ، وَلَمْ يَسْتَثْنِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي إِبَاحَتِهَا مَنْ يَأْمَنُ الضَّعْفَ دُونَ مَنْ يَخَافُهُ . فَإِنْ صَحَّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ فِي الْحِجَامَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ ، كَانَ مُؤَدَّى هَذَا الْقَوْلِ أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ قَالَ : كُرِهَ لِلصَّائِمِ مَا رَخَّصَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُ فِيهَا . وَغَيْرُ جَائِزٍ أَنْ يُتَأَوَّلَ هَذَا عَلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَرْوُوا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُخْصَةً فِي الشَّيْءِ وَيَكْرَهُونَهُ

Narrated Muhayyisah ibn Ka'b:
Muhayyisah asked permission of the Messenger of Allah (saws) regarding hire of the cupper, but he forbade him. He kept on asking his permission, and at last he said to him: Feed your watering camel with it and feed your slave with it.

Narrated Jabir:
Umm Salamah asked the Messenger of Allah (saws) permission for getting herself cupped. He commanded Abu Tibah to cup her. The transmitter said: I think he was her foster-brother or a boy not yet of age.

Muhayyisa said he asked permission of God's Messenger regarding the hire of the cupper, but he forbade him. He kept on asking his permission, and at last he said, "Feed your watering-camel with it and feed your slaves with it."*
Malik, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah transmitted it.
* Ibn Abd al-Barr (Isti'ab, p. 286) says Muhayyisa had a slave called Nafi' Abu Taiba who was a cupper. On p. 654 he says the name of Abu Taiba was Dinar, or Nafi', or Maisara, but God knows best. In this tradition Muhayyisa is told that he may not apply to his private use anything earned by his slave for cupping.
وَعَن محيصة أَنَّهُ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أُجْرَةِ الْحَجَّامِ فَنَهَاهُ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ حَتَّى قَالَ: «اعْلِفْهُ نَاضِحَكَ وَأَطْعِمْهُ رَقِيقَكَ» . رَوَاهُ مَالِكٌ وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ

'Asim b. 'Umar b. Qatada reported:
There came to our house 'Abdullah and another person from amongst the members of the household who complained of a wound. Jabir said: What ails you? He said: There is a wound which is very painful for me, whereupon he said: Boy, bring to me a cupper. He said: 'Abdullah, what do you intend to do with the cupper? I said: I would get this wound cupped. He said: By Allah. oven the touch of fly or cloth causes me pain (and cupping) would thus cause me (unbearable) pain. And when he saw him feeling pain (at the idea of cupping), he said: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: If there is any effective remedy amongst your remedies, these are (three): Cupping, drinking of honey and cauterisation with the help of fire. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had said: As for myself I do not like cauterisation. The cupper was called and he cupped him and he was all right.

. فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا تَصْنَعُ بِالْحَجَّامِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُعَلِّقَ فِيهِ مِحْجَمًا . قَالَ وَاللَّهِ
إِنَّ الذُّبَابَ لَيُصِيبُنِي أَوْ يُصِيبُنِي الثَّوْبُ فَيُؤْذِينِي وَيَشُقُّ عَلَىَّ . فَلَمَّا رَأَى تَبَرُّمَهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ
قَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " إِنْ كَانَ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ أَدْوِيَتِكُمْ
خَيْرٌ فَفِي شَرْطَةِ مَحْجَمٍ أَوْ شَرْبَةٍ مِنْ عَسَلٍ أَوْ لَذْعَةٍ بِنَارٍ " . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله
عليه وسلم " وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَكْتَوِيَ " . قَالَ فَجَاءَ بِحَجَّامٍ فَشَرَطَهُ فَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ مَا يَجِدُ

Mishkat al-Masabih 2015
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported God’s messenger as saying, “Three things do not break the fast of one who is fasting:
cupping, vomiting, and a nocturnal emission.”
Tirmidhi transmitted it saying this is a tradition which is not regarded, its transmitter ‘Abd ar-Rahman b. Zaid being declared a weak traditionist.
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «ثَلَاثٌ لَا يُفْطِرْنَ الصَّائِمَ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقَيْءُ وَالِاحْتِلَامُ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَيْرُ مَحْفُوظٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زيد الرَّاوِي يضعف فِي الحَدِيث

أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَيْضًا ، قَالَ : ثنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، نا الأَشْجَعِيُّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ النَّاجِي ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : " رُخِّصَ لِلصَّائِمِ فِي الْحِجَامَةِ وَالْقُبْلَةِ " . فَهَذَا الْخَبَرُ رُخِّصَ لِلصَّائِمِ فِي الْحِجَامَةِ وَالْقُبْلَةِ ، دَالٌّ عَلَى أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِيهِ ذِكْرُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

7329 أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، قَالَ : ثنا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، قَالَ : ثنا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ ، " عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ ، فَلَمْ يَقُلْ حَلالٌ وَلا حَرَامٌ ، قَالَ : قَدِ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : وَقَالَ : خَيْرُ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ ، وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ ، لا تُعَذِّبُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالْغَمْزِ "

Sunan Abi Dawud 3862
Narrated Kabshah daughter of AbuBakrah:
(the narrator other than Musa said that Kayyisah daughter of AbuBakrah) She said that her father used to forbid his family to have themselves cupped on a Tuesday, and used to assert on the authority of the Messenger of Allah (saws) that Tuesday is the day of blood in which there is an hour when it does not stop.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرَةَ، بَكَّارُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَمَّتِي، كَبْشَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ - وَقَالَ غَيْرُ مُوسَى كَيِّسَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ - أَنَّ أَبَاهَا، كَانَ يَنْهَى أَهْلَهُ عَنِ الْحِجَامَةِ، يَوْمَ الثُّلاَثَاءِ وَيَزْعُمُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّ يَوْمَ الثُّلاَثَاءِ يَوْمُ الدَّمِ وَفِيهِ سَاعَةٌ لاَ يَرْقَأُ .
