“The Prophet (saw) set out before daybreak, on the night of departure, from Batha’.”

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas and ‘Aishah that Abu Bakr kissed the Prophet (SAW) when he died.

“I never saw anyone suffer more pain than the Messenger of Allah (SAW).”

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim from his father that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say in the tashahhud, "Greetings, good words, prayers, pure actions belong to Allah. I testify that there is no god except Allah, alone without partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. Peace be on you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be on us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun. Peace be upon you."

"At-tahiyatu, at- tayibatu, as-salawatu, az-zakiyatu lillah. Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa'llah, wahdahu la sharika lah wa anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu. As-salamu alayka ayyuha-n-nabiyyu wa rahmatu-llahi wa barakatuhu. As-salamu alayna wa ala ibadi-llahi's-salihin. As-salamu alaykum."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Amra bint Abd ar-Rahman that when A'isha was doing itikaf she would only ask after sick people if she was walking and not if she was standing still.

Malik said, "A person doing itikaf should not carry out obligations of his, nor leave the mosque for them, nor should he help anyone. He should only leave the mosque to relieve himself. If he were able to go out to do things for people, visiting the sick, praying over the dead and following funeral processions would be the things with the most claim on his coming out."

Malik said, "A person doing itikaf is not doing itikaf until he avoids what some one doing itikaf should avoid, namely, visiting the sick, praying over the dead, and entering houses, except to relieve himself."

‘Ubada b. as-Samit reported God's messenger as saying, "If anyone wishes to meet God, God wishes to meet him; but if anyone does not wish to meet God, God does not wish to meet him.” When ‘A'isha or one of his wives said she did not want to die, he replied, "That is not what I mean; but when death comes to a believer he is given glad tidings of God’s good pleasure and regard, so nothing is dearer to him than what lies before him, and he wishes to meet God and God wishes to meet him. But when an infidel approaches death he is given tidings of God’s punishment and chastisement, so nothing is more objectionable to him than what lies before him, and he does not wish to meet God and God does not wish to meet him.” In ‘A’isha's version it says that death precedes the meeting with God. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

The Prophet used to spend time with Zainab daughter of Jahsh and that he once drank honey at her house, so Hafsa and she agreed that the one whom the Prophet visited first should say, “I notice that you have an odour of the gum of the mimosa.* Have you eaten some?” When he visited one of them and she said that to him he replied, “Don’t worry; I drank some honey at the house of Zainab daughter of Jahsh, but I swear that I shall not do it again. Do not tell anyone of that.” [He said this] desiring to please his wives, and then there came down, “O prophet, why do you hold to be forbidden what God has made lawful for you, desiring to please your wives? (Al-Qur’an 66:1). *Maghafir; plural of Mughfur, is here used. It is the gum of a kind of mimosa called ‘urfut, the odour of which is unpleasant. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

"The divorce of a slave woman is twice, and her (waiting) period is two menstrual cycles." Abu 'Asim said: "I mentioned this to Muzahir and said: 'Tell me what you told Ibn Juraij.' So he told me, narrating from Qasim from 'Aishah, that the Prophet (SAW) said: 'The divorce of a slave woman is twice, and her (waiting) period is two menstrual cycles."'

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'O Allah! Strengthen Islam with 'Umar bin Khattab in particular.'"

"The Prophet prayed the 'Asr when the sun was shining into my room and there were no shadows yet."

"The Messenger of Allah did not sleep before the 'Isha' nor stay up (talking) after it."

"A devil chasing a devil."

that whenever the Messenger of Allah was to travel, he would cast lots among his wives.

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to fast ‘Ashura’, and he ordered (others) to fast it too.”

“A house in which there are no dates, its people will go hungry.”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) had hair that came between his earlobes and his shoulders.”

“On one occasion the Messenger of Allah (saw) sent sheep to the House, and he garlanded them.”

“If food is ready and the Iqamah is being given, then start with the food.”

“I did not know of the Prophet of Allah (saw) reciting the entire Qur’an until morning.”

“The bed of the Messenger of Allah (saw) was made of leather, stuffed with fibers of date-palm trees.”

"The Messenger of Allah (SAW) recited the following Verse: 'It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad) the Book (this Qur'an). In it are verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book; and others not entirely clear (up to His saying: ) 'And none receive admonition except men of understanding.' Then he said: 'O 'Aishah, if you see those who dispute concerning it (the Qur'an), they are those whom Allah has referred to here, so beware of them.'"

The Messenger of Allah said: "O 'Uthman, if Allah places you in authority over this matter (as the caliph) some day and the hypocrites want to rid you of the garment with which Allah has clothed you (i.e., the position of caliph), do not take it off." He said that three times. (One of the narrators) Nu'man said: "I said to 'Aishah: 'What kept you from telling the people that?' She said: 'I was made to forget it.'"

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Perform ablution after (eating) that which has been changed by fire.'"

"I remember when I found it (semen) on the garment of the Messenger of Allah and I scratched it off."

"The Messenger of Allah would not perform ablution after the bath to cleanse himself from sexual impurity."

"If the Messenger of Allah wanted to eat when he was sexually impure, he would perform ablution."

If the Prophet wanted to eat when he was sexually impure, he would wash his hands.

"There is no vow to commit disobedience, and the expiation (for such a vow) is the expiation for breaking an oath."

“If a man stays among a people, he should not fast without their permission.”

“One of the best actions of the fasting person is using the tooth stick.”

“Snakes are vermin, scorpions are vermin, mice are vermin and crows are vermin.”

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (saw) forbade standing up before the food had been cleared away.

“Fever is from the heat of the Hell-fire, so cool it down with water.”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) commanded that use should be made of the skins of dead animals, if they were tanned.”

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'l-Aswad Muhammad ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Nawfal from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr from Zaynab bint Abi Salama that Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "I once complained to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that I was ill and he said, 'Do tawaf riding behind the people.' So I did tawaf riding my camel, while the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was praying by the side of the House, reciting Surat at-Tur."

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that `Urwa ibn az-Zubayr said that if the child of the woman against whom li`an had been pronounced or the child of fornication, died, his mother inherited from him her right in the Book of Allah the Exalted, and his maternal half-brothers had their rights. The rest was inherited by the owners of his mother's wala' if she was a freed slave. If she was an ordinary free woman, she inherited her right, his maternal brothers inherited their rights, and the rest went to the Muslims.

Malik said,"I heard the same as that from Sulayman ibn Yasar, and it is what I saw the people of knowledge in our city doing."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that his father said, "It used to be that a man would divorce his wife and then return to her before her idda was over, and that was alright, even if he divorced her a thousand times. The man went to his wife and then divorced her and when the end of her idda was in sight, he took her back and then divorced her and said, 'No! By Allah, I will not go to you and you will never be able to marry again.' Allah, the Blessed, the Exalted, sent down, 'Divorce is twice, then honourable retention or setting free kindly.' People then turned towards divorce in a new light from that day whether or not they were divorced or not divorced."

Qais b. Muslim told that Abu Ja'far said there was not a family of the Emigrants who did not cultivate ground for a third and a quarter of the produce, and ‘Ali, Sa‘d b. Malik, ‘Abdallah b. Mas'ud, ‘Umar b. ‘Abd al-Aziz, al-Qasim, ‘Urwa, the family of Abu Bakr, the family of ‘Umar, the family of ‘Ali, and Ibn Sirin made contracts for part of the produce in return for working land. ‘Abd ar-Rahman b. al- Aswad said that he partnered 'Abd ar-Rahman b. Yazid in cultivation, and ‘Umar employed people on condition that if he provided the seed he should have half the crop, and if they provided the seed they should have such and such. Bukhari transmitted it.

‘Urwa said az-Zubair had a dispute with one of the Ansar about streamlets in the lava plain, and the Prophet said, “Water your ground, Zubair, then let the water run to your neighbour.” The Ansari said, “It is because he is your cousin.” Thereupon his face changed colour and he said, “Water your ground, Zubair, then keep back the water till it returns to the embankment, and afterwards let it run to your neighbour.” So the Prophet paid regard to az-Zubair’s right by the clear decision when the Ansari made him angry and he had given them advice which would have made matters easy for both of them. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not part of it, will have it rejected."

'The Messenger of Allah said: ''Ammar- no two things were shown to him but he chose the better of the two.''

"I never saw the Messenger of Allah come out of the toilet without first (cleansing himself) with water."

"A baby boy was brought to the Prophet who then urinated on him. He sprinkled over it with water and did not wash it."

"When the Messenger of Allah wanted to sleep and he was sexually impure, he would perform ablution as for prayer."

"The Messenger of Allah used to put his head in my lap when I was menstruating and recite Qur'an."

the Prophet (saw) married Aishah with the household goods the value of which was fifty Dirham.

that the Messenger of Allah said: "Choose the best for your sperm, and marry compatible women and propose marriage to them."'

"The Messenger of Allah never beat any of his servants, or wives, and his hand never hit anything."

"Aishah told me that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'There is no divorce and no manumission at the time of coercion.' "

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (saw) sacrificed one cow during the Farewell Pilgrimage on behalf of the family of Muhammad (saw).
