Sunan Ibn Majah 841
It was
narrated that from ‘Amr bin Shu’aib, from his father, from his
grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:
“Every prayer
in
which Fatihatil-Kitab (the Opening of the Book) is not recited, it
is
deficient, it is deficient.”
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السُّكَيْنِ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ السَّلْعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ
" كُلُّ صَلاَةٍ لاَ يُقْرَأُ فِيهَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ " .

It was
narrated from ‘Abdul-Jabbar bin Wa’il that his father said:
“I
performed prayer with the Prophet (saw) and when he said: ‘Nor of
those who went astray’,[1:7] he said Amin and we heard that from
him.”

It was
narrated from ‘Aishah that the Prophet (saw) said:
“The Jews
do
not envy you for anything more than they envy you for the Salam and
(saying) ‘Amin’.”

narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:
“If
food is ready and the Iqamah is being given, then start with the
food.”

narrated that Abu Hurairah said:
“The Messenger of Allah (saw)
said: ‘Does not the one who raises his head before the Imam fear
that
Allah may turn his head into the head of a donkey?’”

narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:
“The Messenger of
Allah
(saw) said: ‘The best rows for men are the front rows and the
worst
rows are the back rows, and the best rows for women are the back
rows
and the worst are the front rows.’”

those who lift their gaze to the heavens desist, or their sight

not come back.”

narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:
“Allah enjoined the prayer upon
the tongue of your Prophet (saw): Four Rak’ah while a resident and

Rak’ah when traveling.”

It was
narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet (saw) said:
“There is
nothing standing between a person and Shirk (polytheism)
except
leaving the prayer, so if he leaves it he has committed Shirk.”

done what is obligatory for him. But whoever takes a bath, bath

better.”

Sunan Ibn Majah 1107
‘Abdur-Rahman bin Sa’d bin ‘Ammar bin Sa’d narrated that his
father
told him, from his father, from his grandfather, that when the
Messenger of Allah (saw) delivered a speech on the battlefield he
would do so leaning on a bow, and when he delivered a sermon on
Friday, he would do so leaning on his staff.
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ كَانَ إِذَا خَطَبَ فِي الْحَرْبِ، خَطَبَ عَلَى قَوْسٍ. وَإِذَا خَطَبَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ، خَطَبَ عَلَى عَصًا .

narrated from Muhammad bin ‘Ubaidullah bin Abu Rafi’, from his
father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (saw) used
to come to ‘Eid prayers walking, and that he would go back via a
different route than the one he began with.

“The Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: ‘Do not be like so-and-so, who used to pray voluntary
night prayers then stopped praying voluntary night prayers.”

“The Prophet (SAW) said to me: ‘Do

show your thigh, and do not look at the thigh of anyone, living or
dead.’”

narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud that the Messenger of Allah

‘The funeral should be followed and should not follow.
There should be no one with it who walks ahead of it.”

narrated from Abu Umamah that the Messenger of Allah (SAW)
cursed the
woman who scratches her face and rends her garment and
cries that she
is doomed (i.e. because of the death of this person).

" إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ إِنَّمَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَى أَعْمَالِكُمْ وَقُلُوبِكُمْ " .

narrated that ‘Ali said:
“The daughter of the Messenger of

(saw) was permitted to me as a bride, and our bed on the night

she was presented to me, was no more than the hide of a ram.”

free time.’”

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me a suit of pure silk and I went out wearing it. But I saw anger on his face, so i tore it and divided it among my womenfolk.

Bilal bin Yahya bin Talhah bin `Ubaidullah narrated, from his father, from his grandfather that When the Prophet (ﷺ) saw the new moon, he would say:
`O Allah, bring it over us with blessing and faith, and with soundness and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.”

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abu Bakr ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Umar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When you eat, eat with your right hand and drink with your right hand. Shaytan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ
" إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ " .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha that Anas ibn Malik heard Umar ibn al-Khattab return the greeting of a man who greeted him. Then Umar asked the man, "How are you?" He said, "I praise Allah to you." (Ahmadu ilayka Allah) Umar said, "That is what I wanted from you."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، وَسَلَّمَ، عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمَ ثُمَّ سَأَلَ عُمَرُ الرَّجُلَ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ فَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ إِلَيْكَ اللَّهَ . فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِي أَرَدْتُ مِنْكَ .

Malik related to me from Rabia ibn Abd ar-Rahman that az-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam bought a slave and set him free. The slave had children by a free woman. When az-Zubayr freed him, he said, "They are my mawali." The man argued, "They are the mawali of their mother. Rather, they are our mawali." They took the dispute to Uthman ibn Affan, and Uthman gave a judgement that az-Zubayr had their wala'.
حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، . أَنَّ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ، اشْتَرَى عَبْدًا فَأَعْتَقَهُ وَلِذَلِكَ الْعَبْدِ بَنُونَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ حُرَّةٍ فَلَمَّا أَعْتَقَهُ الزُّبَيْرُ قَالَ هُمْ مَوَالِيَّ . وَقَالَ مَوَالِي أُمِّهِمْ بَلْ هُمْ مَوَالِينَا . فَاخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ فَقَضَى عُثْمَانُ لِلزُّبَيْرِ بِوَلاَئِهِمْ .

Allah's Apostle said, "When carried to his grave, a dead person is followed by three, two of which return (after his burial) and one remains with him: his relative, his property, and his deeds follow him; relatives and his property go back while his deeds remain with him."

It was narrated that Samurah bin Jundub said:
"The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Whoever misses jumu'ah with no excuse, let him give a dinar in charity, and if he cannot afford that, then half a dinar."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that his father heard Abdullah ibn Amir ibn Rabia say, "We prayed subh behind Umar ibn al-Khattab and he recited suraYusuf (Sura 12) and surat al- Hajj (Sura 22) slowly." I (Hisham's father) said, "By Allah, then it must have been his habit to get up at the crack of dawn." He said, "Of course."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، يَقُولُ صَلَّيْنَا وَرَاءَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ الصُّبْحَ فَقَرَأَ فِيهَا بِسُورَةِ يُوسُفَ وَسُورَةِ الْحَجِّ قِرَاءَةً بَطِيئَةً فَقُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ إِذًا لَقَدْ كَانَ يَقُومُ حِينَ يَطْلُعُ الْفَجْرُ . قَالَ أَجَلْ .

Yahya related to me from Malik from a reliable source from Bukayr ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj from Busr ibn Said that when Ubaydullah ibn al-Aswad al-Khawlani was in the room of Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, she used to pray in a shift and head-covering, without a waist-wrapper.
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ الثِّقَةِ، عِنْدَهُ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ، وَكَانَ، فِي حَجْرِ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ كَانَتْ تُصَلِّي فِي الدِّرْعِ وَالْخِمَارِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارٌ .

' "

Umar ibn al-Khattab went out in dismay dragging his cloak, saying, "This temporary marriage, had I come across it, I would have ordered stoning and done away with it! "
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتَ حَكِيمٍ، دَخَلَتْ عَلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ اسْتَمْتَعَ بِامْرَأَةٍ فَحَمَلَتْ مِنْهُ . فَخَرَجَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَزِعًا يَجُرُّ رِدَاءَهُ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ الْمُتْعَةُ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ تَقَدَّمْتُ فِيهَا لَرَجَمْتُ .

Abūt-Tāhir and Harmalah bin Yahyā narrated to me, they said Ibn Wahb narrated to us, he said Yūnus informed me, on authority of Ibn Shihāb, on authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abd Allah bin Utbah, that Abd Allah bin Mas’ūd said:
‘It is the case that you do not relate to the people a narration which their minds cannot grasp except that it becomes a Fitnah for some of them’.
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ مَا أَنْتَ بِمُحَدِّثٍ قَوْمًا حَدِيثًا لاَ تَبْلُغُهُ عُقُولُهُمْ إِلاَّ كَانَ لِبَعْضِهِمْ فِتْنَةً .

That the Messenger of Allah told 'Attab bin Usaid to estimate the (harvest of) grapes, and to pay Zakah in raisins, just as the Zakah on date palms is given in died dates.

"The Messenger of Allah (saws) would eat snake cucumber with fresh dates.
[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih Gharib, we do not know of it except as a narration of Ibrahim bin Sa'd.

"I heard Ibn 'Umar say: 'We used to sell grain before it was ripe and before it was evident that it was free of disease and blight (by means of Al-Mukhabarah). We did not see anything wrong with that, until Rafi' bin Khadij said that the Messenger of Allah had forbidden Al-Mukhabarah.'"

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ صَبِيحٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبَانَ هُوَ الرَّقَاشِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُكْثِرُ دَهْنَ رَأْسِهِ وَتَسْرِيحَ لِحْيَتِهِ، وَيُكْثِرُ الْقِنَاعَ حَتَّى كَأَنَّ ثَوْبَهُ، ثَوْبُ زَيَّاتٍ.

Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 36
Humaid ibn 'Abd ar-Rahman relates on the authority of a man from among the Companions of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace):
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to comb his hair at intervals.”
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلاءِ الأَوْدِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، كَانَ يَتَرَجَّلُ غِبًّا.
