"I made a vow during the Ignorance period and I asked the Prophet (SAW) (about it) after I became Muslim. He told me to fulfill my vow."

the Messenger of Allah (SAW) ruled that what a slave earns belongs to his guarantor.

he said that two men laid claim to an animal, and neither of them had any proof, so the Prophet (SAW) commanded them to cast lots as to which of them should swear an oath.

“For one of you to give (land) to his brother is better for him than if he were to take a set amount in rent for it.”

“If he gets drunk, then whip him. If he does it again, then whip him. If he does it again, then whip him.' And he said concerning the fourth time: 'If he does it again, then strike his neck (i.e., execute him).' ”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to fast three days of each month.” I said: “Which were they?” She said: “He did not care which days they were.”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to kiss when he was fasting, and who among you can control his desire as the Messenger of Allah (saw) used to control his desire?”

‘It is not an act of righteousness to fast while traveling.”

“I heard Tamim Ad- Dari say: ‘I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the Sunnah concerning a man from among the People of the Book who becomes a Muslim at the hands of another man?’ He said: ‘He is the closest of all people to him in life and in death.’”

‘Do not take anything with a soul as a target.”

“What do they use dogs for?” Then he permitted them to keep hunting dogs.

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked about locusts. He said: ‘(They are) the most numerous troop of Allah. I neither eat them nor forbid them.’”

It was narrated from Sa’d, the freed slave of Abu Bakr – and Sa’d used to serve the Messenger of Allah (saw) and he liked this Hadith – that the Prophet (saw) forbade eating two dates at once.

“Asma’ said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall I recite Ruqyah* for them?’ He said: ‘Yes, for if anything were to overtake the Divine decree it would be the evil eye.’”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to seek refuge from the evil eye of the jinn and of mankind. When the Mu’awwidhatain* were revealed, he started to recite them and stopped reciting anything else.”

“I asked the Messenger of Allah (saw) about the food of the Christians and he said: ‘Do not have any doubt about food, (thereby) following the way of the Christians in that.’”

“Sa’b bin Jaththamah said: ‘The Prophet (saw) was asked about the polytheists who are attacked at night, and their women and children are killed.’ He said: ‘They are from among them.’”

“O my son, if only you could have seen us when we were with the Messenger of Allah (saw), when rain fell on us; you would have thought that we smelled like sheep.”

“One of the Mothers of the Believers had a sheep that died. The Messenger of Allah (saw) passed by it and said: ‘It would not have harmed its owners if they had made use of its hide.’”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said; “None of you should walk in one sandal or in one leather sock. Let him take them both off or walk in both of them.”

“The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.”

“O younger brother, give us a share of your supplication, and do not forget us.”

“We used to feel sorry for the Messenger of Allah (saw) because he took pains to keep his arms away from his sides when he prostrated.”

“The Messenger of Allah had a reed mat that he would spread out during the day, and make into a compartment at night, towards which he would perform prayer.”

“The Prophet (saw) used to perform prayer when I was opposite to him, and his garment would sometimes touch me when he prostrated.”

“I asked Sa’ib bin Yazid: ‘What have you heard about staying in Makkah?’ He said: ‘I heard ‘Ala’ bin Hadrami say: “The Prophet (saw) said: ‘Three (days) for the Muhajir after departing (from Mina).’”*
* The meaning of it is: being hished from the rites (of Hajj).

“There is no prayer after the ‘Asr until the sun has set, and there is no prayer after the Fajr until the sun has risen.”

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (saw) used to recite in the ‘Eid prayer “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High.” [Al-A’la (87)] and “Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?” [Al-Ghashiyah (88)]

“I saw the Messenger of Allah (saw) praying on the Day of the Conquest, and he put his shoes on his left.”

“Recite Qur’an near your dying ones,” meaning Ya-Sin.

“The Messenger of Allah (SAW), Abu Bakr and ‘Umar did not give us so much leeway in anything as they did with regard to the prayer for the deceased,” meaning that there was nothing affixed.

“Your brother Najashi has died, so stand and pray for him.” So we formed two rows behind him.

‘A miscarried fetus sent before me is dearer to me than a horseman whom I leave behind.”

“The Hour will not begin until you fight people with shoes of hair, and the Hour will not begin until you fight people with small eyes.”

“Wretched is the slave of the Dinar and the slave of the Dirham, and the slave of velvet and the slave of the Khamisah.* If he is given, he is pleased and if he is not given, he does not fulfill (his oath of allegiance).”

Allah's Messenger said: "Whoever forgets a Salat then he is to pray it when he remembers it."

Zainab bint Abi Salamah said: "I entered upon Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet when her father Sufyan bin Harb died. So she asked for some perfume that had something yellow saffron or something else, so a girl applied it to her and put some on her cheeks. Then she said: 'By Allah! I have no need for perfume except that I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: "It is not lawful for a woman who believers in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for the dead more than three days, except for her husband (in which case it is) four months and ten days."

that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Take as examples the two after me from my Companions, Abu Bakr and 'Umar. And act upon the guidance of 'Ammar, and hold fast to the advice of Ibn Mas'ud."

Abu Bakr said, when he sent me to Syria: O Yazeed, you have relatives and you may give them precedence in allocating positions of authority; that is the most serious thing I fear for you, because the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `Whoever is appointed in charge of any affairs of the Muslims and appoints over them anyone by way of favouritism, the curse of Allah be upon him and Allah will not accept any obligatory or nafl prayer from him until he admits him to Hell. And whoever allows anyone to transgress the sacred limits set by Allah has transgressed the sacred limits of Allah unlawfully, and on him will be the curse of Allah and Allah will forsake him.`

Here is your cousin; carry out the hadd punishment on him. He said: O Hasan, get up and flog him. He said: You are not able to do that, appoint someone else for this. He said: Rather you are too weak and helpless. Get up, O Abdullah bin Ja’far. So `Abdullah began to strike him and ‘Ali counted until he reached forty. Then he said: Stop - or That`s enough. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave forty lashes and Abu Bakr gave forty lashes,andʻUmar completed it and made it eighty. And all are Sunnah.

Shall I give you more?! The matter was referred to ‘Uthman (رضي الله عنه) , who ordered that he be flogged. ‘Ali said to al-Hasan bin ‘Ali Get up, O Hasan, and flog him. He said: What does that have to do with you? ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: Rather you are incapable and weak; get up, O Abdullah bin Jafar and flog him. So ‘Abdullah bin Ja`far got up and flogged him, and `Ali kept count. When he reached forty, he said to him; Stop. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave forty lashes for drinking alcohol, Abu Bakr gave forty lashes, as did ʼUmar at the beginning of his caliphate, Then `Umar completed it, making it eighty. And all of it is Sunnah.

Jabir told how ‘Umar b. al-Khattab brought God’s messenger a copy of the Torah saying, “Messenger of God, this is a copy of the Torah.” When he received no reply he began to read to the obvious displeasure of God’s messenger, so Abu Bakr said, “Confound you ¹ do you not see how God’s messenger is looking?” So ‘Umar looked at God’s messenger’s face and said, “I seek refuge in God from the anger of God and His messenger. We are satisfied with God as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet.” Then God’s messenger said, “By Him in whose hand Muhammad’s soul is, were Moses to appear to you and you were to follow him and abandon me, you would err from the right way. Were he alive and came in touch with my prophetic mission he would follow me.” Darimi transmitted it. ¹ Literally, may the bereaved be bereaved of you.

When I was with the Prophet in one of the gardens of Medina and a man came asking that the gate be opened, the Prophet said, "Open it for him and give him good news of paradise." I opened the gate for him and found He was Abu Bakr, and when I told him the good news God's messenger had given me, he praised God. Another man came and asked that the gate be opened, and the Prophet said, "Open it for him and give him good news of paradise." I opened the gate for him and found he was `Umar, and when I informed him for what the Prophet had said he praised God. Another man asked that the gate be opened, and he said, "Open it for him and give him good news of paradise after a trial which will afflict them." I found he was `Uthman, and when I informed him of what the Prophet had said he praised God and then said, "God is the One whose help is sought." (Bukhari and Muslim.)

Abdullah said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say the Takbir every time he went down and got up, or stood or sat; he said the Salam on his right and his left: 'As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatulah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah ),' until the whiteness of his cheek could be seen." He said: "And I saw Abu Bakr and 'Umar, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with them both, doing the same."

"Teach me a supplication that I may recite in my prayer." He said: "Say: 'Alahumma inni zalamtu afsi zulman kathiran wa la yaghfirudhunub illa anta faghfirli maghfiratan min 'indika warhamni innaka antalGhafurur-Rahim (O Allah, verily I have wronged myself much and there is None who forgives sins except You. Grant me forgiveness from You and have mercy on me for You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.)'"
