Sahih Muslim 2789
Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) took hold of my hands and said:
Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created the clay on Saturday and He created the mountains on Sunday and He created the trees on Monday and He created the things entailing labour on Tuesday and created light on Wednesday and He caused the animals to spread on Thursday and created Adam (peace be upon him) after 'Asr on Friday; the last creation at the last hour of the hours of Friday, i. e. between afternoon and night. This hadith is narrated through another chain of transmitters.
حَدَّثَنِي سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ،
قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ،
مَوْلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِيَدِي فَقَالَ
"
خَلَقَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ التُّرْبَةَ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَخَلَقَ فِيهَا الْجِبَالَ يَوْمَ الأَحَدِ وَخَلَقَ الشَّجَرَ يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ
وَخَلَقَ الْمَكْرُوهَ يَوْمَ الثُّلاَثَاءِ وَخَلَقَ النُّورَ يَوْمَ الأَرْبِعَاءِ وَبَثَّ فِيهَا الدَّوَابَّ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ وَخَلَقَ
آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي آخِرِ الْخَلْقِ وَفِي آخِرِ سَاعَةٍ مِنْ سَاعَاتِ
الْجُمُعَةِ فِيمَا بَيْنَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ " .
قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ حَدَّثَنَا الْبِسْطَامِيُّ، - وَهُوَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى - وَسَهْلُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ بِنْتِ حَفْصٍ وَغَيْرُهُمْ عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .

Sahih Muslim 1463 a
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported:
Never did I find any woman more loving to me than Sauda bint Zam'a. I wished I could be exactly like her who was passionate. As she became old, she had made over her day (which she had to spend) with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) to 'A'isha. She said: I have made over my day with you to 'A'isha. So Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) allotted two days to 'A'isha, her own day (when it was her turn) and that of Sauda.
حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ امْرَأَةً أَحَبَّ إِلَىَّ أَنْ أَكُونَ فِي مِسْلاَخِهَا مِنْ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتِ زَمْعَةَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ فِيهَا حِدَّةٌ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَبِرَتْ جَعَلَتْ يَوْمَهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِعَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ جَعَلْتُ يَوْمِي مِنْكَ لِعَائِشَةَ . فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقْسِمُ لِعَائِشَةَ يَوْمَيْنِ يَوْمَهَا وَيَوْمَ سَوْدَةَ .

It was narrated that 'Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) shared out (some wealth) and I said, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, others deserved to have it more than these people." He said: "They gave me the choice of having them ask importunately or regard me as a miser, and I am not a
miser."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِسْمَةً فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَغَيْرُ هَؤُلَاءِ أَحَقُّ مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُمْ خَيَّرُونِي بَيْنَ أَنْ يَسْأَلُونِي بِالْفُحْشِ أَوْ يُبَخِّلُونِي فَلَسْتُ بِبَاخِلٍ.

It was narrated from Sa’eed bin al-Musayyab that `Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said:
Beware of overlooking the verse of stoning and (do not let) anyone say: “We do not find two hadd punishments in the Book of Allah, for I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stone [adulterers] and we stoned [them] after he was gone.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَهْلِكُوا عَنْ آيَةِ الرَّجْمِ وَأَنْ يَقُولَ قَائِلٌ لَا نَجِدُ حَدَّيْنِ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَمَ وَرَجَمْنَا بَعْدَهُ.

It was narrated from Ibn `Umar that `Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) said:
I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) : O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), if one of us wants to sleep before doing ghusl when he is junub, what should he do? He said: `Let him do wudoo’ as for prayer, then sleep.”
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَحَدُنَا إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ قَالَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ يَنَامُ.

It was narrated from `Ali (رضي الله عنه) that Fatimah came to the Prophet (ﷺ) to ask him for a servant. He said:
“Shall I not tell you of something that is better for you than that? Say Subhanallah thirty-three times, Allahu Akbar thirty-three times and Alhamdulillah thirty-three times; one of them thirty-four times.`
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ، أَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْتَخْدِمُهُ فَقَالَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكِ عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ تُسَبِّحِينَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَتُكَبِّرِينَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَتَحْمَدِينَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ أَحَدُهَا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me to Yemen and I said: O Messenger of Allah, are you sending me to people who are older than me to judge between them? He said: “Go, for Allah, may He be exalted, will make your tongue steadfast and guide your heart.”
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ تَبْعَثُنِي إِلَى قَوْمٍ هُمْ أَسَنُّ مِنِّي لِأَقْضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى سَيُثَبِّتُ لِسَانَكَ وَيَهْدِي قَلْبَكَ.

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `Whoever commits a sin in this world and is punished therein. Allah is too generous to repeat His punishment of His slave [in the Hereafter], whoever commits a sin in this world and Allah conceals it and pardons him, Allah is too generous to retract His pardon when He has granted it.`
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ أَذْنَبَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ذَنْبًا فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ فَاللَّهُ أَعْدَلُ مِنْ أَنْ يُثَنِّيَ عُقُوبَتَهُ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ وَمَنْ أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا فِي الدُّنْيَا فَسَتَرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَفَا عَنْهُ فَاللَّهُ أَكْرَمُ مِنْ أَنْ يَعُودَ فِي شَيْءٍ قَدْ عَفَا عَنْهُ.

A mule was given to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as a gift, and we said: O Messenger of Allah, what if we mate donkeys with our mares, then we will have something like this? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “That is only done by those who do not know.”
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زُرَيْرٍ الْغَافِقِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ أُهْدِيَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَغْلَةٌ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ أَنَّا أَنْزَيْنَا الْحُمُرَ عَلَى خَيْلِنَا فَجَاءَتْنَا بِمِثْلِ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me two slaves who were brothers, and I sold one of them, The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `What happened to the two slaves?` I said: I have sold one of them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `Get him back.`
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، وَإِسْحَقُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ وَهَبَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غُلَامَيْنِ أَخَوَيْنِ فَبِعْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا فَعَلَ الْغُلَامَانِ فَقُلْتُ بِعْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُدَّهُ.

It was narrated from `Amr bin Sulaim Az-Zuraqi, from his mother, that she said:
Whilst we were in Mina, I saw `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) on a camel, saying: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) says: `These are days of eating and drinking, so no one should fast.` And he followed the people [to convey this message]
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ بِمِنًى إِذَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى جَمَلٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ هَذِهِ أَيَّامُ طُعْمٍ وَشُرْبٍ فَلَا يَصُومَنَّ أَحَدٌ فَاتَّبَعَ النَّاسُ.

It was narrated that Abu Juhaifah said:
‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) addressed us and said: Shall I not tell you of the best of this ummah after its Prophet? [It is] Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq. Then he said: Shall I not tell you of the best of this ummah after its Prophet (ﷺ) and after Abu Bakr? He Said: [lt is] ʻUmar.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، لُوَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، قَالَ خَطَبَنَا عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا وَبَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ.

It was narrated that Tariq - i.e., bin Shihab - said:
I heard ` Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: We do not have any book that we read to you except what is in the Qur`an and what is in this document - a document that was in the sheath of a sword that he was wearing, which had an adornment of iron. - I took it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and in it are the rates of zakah.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ مَا عِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ نَقْرَؤُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَمَا فِي هَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةِ صَحِيفَةٌ كَانَتْ فِي قِرَابِ سَيْفٍ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ حِلْيَتُهُ حَدِيدٌ أَخَذْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهَا فَرَائِضُ الصَّدَقَةِ.

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abd Khair that his father said:
I saw ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) do wudoo’, and he washed the tops of his feet and said: Were it not that I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wash the tops of his feet, I would have thought that the bottoms of the feet were more deserving of being washed.

`The Pen has been lifted from three; from the sleeper until he wakes up, from the crazy - or insane- one until he comes back to his senses, and from the minor until he grows up.”

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) told me to sell two slaves who were brothers, so I sold them and separated them, I mentioned that to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: `Go and take them back, and only sell them together; do not separate them.”

It was narrated from Jurayy bin Kulaib, that he heard `Ali (رضي الله عنه) say:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade sacrificing an animal that has lost most of its horn or ear. Qatadah said: I mentioned that to Sa’eed bin al-Musayyab and he said. [That refers to] one that has lost half or more (of its horn or ear).

There were idols on top of the Ka`bah, and I wanted to lift up the Prophet (ﷺ) so he could reach them, but I could not do it. So he lifted me up, and I started smashing them, and if I had wanted to, I could have touched the sky.

It was narrated that Abu Hayyah al-Hamdani said:
‘Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) said: Whoever would like to see the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), let him look at me. He did wudoo’ washing each part three times, then he wiped his head, then he drank the leftover water.

Mishkat al-Masabih 1439
Anas said that when the Prophet came to Medina the people had two days on which they engaged in games. Having asked what their significance was and being told that they had engaged in games on them in the pre-Islamic period, he said, “God has substituted for them something better than them, the day of sacrifice and the day of the breaking of the fast.”
Abu Dawud transmitted it.
عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَلَهُمْ يَوْمَانِ يَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمَا فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذَانِ الْيَوْمَانِ؟» قَالُوا: كُنَّا نَلْعَبُ فِيهِمَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
" قَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمُ اللَّهُ بِهِمَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا: يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَيَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ ". رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد

It was narrated from Tariq bin Shihab that:
The Jews said to `Umar. You recite a verse which, is it had been revealed among us, we would have taken that day as a festiva!. ʻUmar said: I know where it was revealed, on what day it was revealed and where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was when it was revealed. It was revealed on the day of `Arafah, when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was standing in `Arafah, Sufyan said: I am not sure whether it was a Friday or not, i.e., `This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” (al-Ma’idah 5:3).

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to pray dhuhr, asr, maghrib, isha and subh at Mina. Then in the morning, after the sun had risen, he would go to Arafa .
Malik said, "What we are all agreed upon here (in Madina) is that the imam does not recite the Qur'an out loud in dhuhr on the day of Arafa, and that he gives a khutba to the people on that day, and that the prayer on the day of Arafa is really a dhuhr prayer, and even if it coincides with a jumua it is still a dhuhr prayer, but one which has been shortened because of travelling."
Malik said that the imam of the pilgrims should not pray the jumua prayer if the day of Arafa, the day of sacrifice or one of the three days after the day of sacrifice, was a Friday.
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، كَانَ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ وَالصُّبْحَ بِمِنًى ثُمَّ يَغْدُو إِذَا طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ إِلَى عَرَفَةَ . قَالَ مَالِكٌ وَالأَمْرُ الَّذِي لاَ اخْتِلاَفَ فِيهِ عِنْدَنَا أَنَّ الإِمَامَ لاَ يَجْهَرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ فِي الظُّهْرِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَّهُ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَّ الصَّلاَةَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ ظُهْرٌ وَإِنْ وَافَقَتِ الْجُمُعَةَ فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ ظُهْرٌ وَلَكِنَّهَا قُصِرَتْ مِنْ أَجْلِ السَّفَرِ . قَالَ مَالِكٌ فِي إِمَامِ الْحَاجِّ إِذَا وَافَقَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ أَوْ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ أَوْ بَعْضَ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ إِنَّهُ لاَ يُجَمِّعُ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1945
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:
The Messenger of Allah (saws) halted on the day of sacrifice between the jamrahs (pillars at Mina) during hajj which he performed. He asked: Which is this day? They replied: This is the day of sacrifice. He said: This is the day of greater hajj.
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْغَازِ - حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَقَفَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بَيْنَ الْجَمَرَاتِ فِي الْحَجَّةِ الَّتِي حَجَّ فَقَالَ " أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا " . قَالُوا يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ . قَالَ " هَذَا يَوْمُ الْحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ " .

Abu Salih reported from Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'eed that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
"The servant will be brought on the Day of Judgement, and He will say to hi: 'Did I not give you hearing, sight, wealth, children, and did I not make the cattle and tillage subservient to you, and did I not leave you as the head of people taking from their wealth? Did you not think that you would have to meet with Me on this Day of yours?' So he will say: 'No.' So it will be said to him: 'Today you shall be forgotten just as you have forgotten Me.'"
[Abü 'Elsa said:] This Hadith is Sahih Gharib and the meaning of His saying: "Today you shall be forgotten just as you have forgotten Me" is: Today I shall leave you in chastisement. [This is how they have explained it]. [Abu 'Eisa said:] This is how some of the people of knowledge have explained this Ayah: So this Day We shall forget them...They said that it means: We shall leave them in chastisement.
[Abü 'Elsa said:] This Hadith is Sahih Gharib and the meaning of His saying: "Today you shall be forgotten just as you have forgotten Me" is: Today I shall leave you in chastisement. [This is how they have explained it]. [Abu 'Eisa said:] This is how some of the people of knowledge have explained this Ayah: So this Day We shall forget them...They said that it means: We shall leave them in chastisement.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ سُعَيْرٍ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالاَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " يُؤْتَى بِالْعَبْدِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ لَهُ أَلَمْ أَجْعَلْ لَكَ سَمْعًا وَبَصَرًا وَمَالاً وَوَلَدًا وَسَخَّرْتُ لَكَ الأَنْعَامَ وَالْحَرْثَ وَتَرَكْتُكَ تَرْأَسُ وَتَرْبَعُ فَكُنْتَ تَظُنُّ أَنَّكَ مُلاَقِيَّ يَوْمَكَ هَذَا قَالَ فَيَقُولُ لاَ . فَيَقُولُ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ أَنْسَاكَ كَمَا نَسِيتَنِي " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ . وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ " الْيَوْمَ أَنْسَاكَ " . يَقُولُ الْيَوْمَ أَتْرُكُكَ فِي الْعَذَابِ . هَكَذَا فَسَّرُوهُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَقَدْ فَسَّرَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ: ( الْيَوْمَ نَنْسَاهُمْ ) قَالُوا إِنَّمَا مَعْنَاهُ الْيَوْمَ نَتْرُكُهُمْ فِي الْعَذَابِ .

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 704
Jabir ibn 'Abdullah said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless
him and grant him peace, made supplication in this mosque, the Mosque of
Victory, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was answered for him
between the two prayers on Wednesday," Jabir said, "Whenever anything severe
and serious happened to me and I singled out that time and made supplication
to Allah concerning it between the two prayers on Wednesday, I found the
answer.'"
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي كَثِيرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ: دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ، مَسْجِدِ الْفَتْحِ، يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمَ الثُّلاَثَاءِ وَيَوْمَ الأَرْبِعَاءِ، فَاسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ بَيْنَ الصَّلاَتَيْنِ مِنْ يَوْمِ الأَرْبِعَاءِ قَالَ جَابِرٌ: وَلَمْ يَنْزِلْ بِي أَمْرٌ مُهِمٌّ غائِظٌ إِلاَّ تَوَخَّيْتُ تِلْكَ السَّاعَةَ، فَدَعَوْتُ اللَّهَ فِيهِ بَيْنَ الصَّلاَتَيْنِ يَوْمَ الأَرْبِعَاءِ فِي تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ، إِلا عَرَفْتُ الإجَابَةَ.

Mishkat al-Masabih 4243
Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, "He who believes in God and the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in God and the last day should not annoy his neighbour ; and he who believes in God and the last day should say what is good, or keep silent." In a version instead of speaking of the neighbour he said, "He who believes in God and the last day should join ties of relationship."

Sunan Abi Dawud 1134
Narrated Anas ibn Malik:
When the Messenger of Allah (saws) came to Medina, the people had two days on which they engaged in games. He asked: What are these two days (what is the significance)? They said: We used to engage ourselves on them in the pre-Islamic period. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: Allah has substituted for them something better than them, the day of sacrifice and the day of the breaking of the fast.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْمَدِينَةَ وَلَهُمْ يَوْمَانِ يَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمَا فَقَالَ " مَا هَذَانِ الْيَوْمَانِ " . قَالُوا كُنَّا نَلْعَبُ فِيهِمَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمْ بِهِمَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا يَوْمَ الأَضْحَى وَيَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ " .

Yahya related to me from Malik that
Yahya ibn Said heard Ata ibn Abi Rabah mentioning that the camel-herders were allowed to throw the stones at night, and saying that this was in the early period (of Islam).
Malik said, "The explanation of the hadith where the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, allowed the camel-herders to delay the stoning of the jamras is, in our view, and Allah knows best, that they threw stones on the day of sacrifice, and then threw again two days later, which was the first possible day for leaving, and this throwing was for the day which had passed. They then threw again for the day itself, because it is only possible for someone to make up for something which is obligatory for him, and when something obligatory passes someone by (without him doing it) he must necessarily make it up afterwards (and not beforehand). So (in the case of the camel-herders), if it seemed appropriate for them to leave that day, they would have done all that they were supposed to do, and if they were to stay until the following day, they would throw stones with everybody else on the second and last day for leaving, and then leave."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَذْكُرُ، أَنَّهُ أُرْخِصَ لِلرِّعَاءِ أَنْ يَرْمُوا، بِاللَّيْلِ يَقُولُ فِي الزَّمَانِ الأَوَّلِ . قَالَ مَالِكٌ تَفْسِيرُ الْحَدِيثِ الَّذِي أَرْخَصَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِرِعَاءِ الإِبِلِ فِي تَأْخِيرِ رَمْىِ الْجِمَارِ فِيمَا نُرَى - وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ - أَنَّهُمْ يَرْمُونَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَإِذَا مَضَى الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي يَلِي يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ رَمَوْا مِنَ الْغَدِ وَذَلِكَ يَوْمُ النَّفْرِ الأَوَّلِ فَيَرْمُونَ لِلْيَوْمِ الَّذِي مَضَى ثُمَّ يَرْمُونَ لِيَوْمِهِمْ ذَلِكَ لأَنَّهُ لاَ يَقْضِي أَحَدٌ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يَجِبَ عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ وَمَضَى كَانَ الْقَضَاءُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَإِنْ بَدَا لَهُمُ النَّفْرُ فَقَدْ فَرَغُوا وَإِنْ أَقَامُوا إِلَى الْغَدِ رَمَوْا مَعَ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ النَّفْرِ الآخِرِ وَنَفَرُوا .

Sunan an-Nasa'i 1556
It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:
"The people of the Jahiliyyah had two days each year when they would play. When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) came to Al-Madinah he said: 'You had two days when you would play, but Allah (SWT) has given Muslims something instead that is better than them: the day of Al-Fitr and the day of Al-Adha.'"

Musnad Ahmad 450, 451
It was narrated that `Uthman bin `Affan (رضي الله عنه) said:
A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I prayed but I do not know whether I did an even number [of rak`ahs] or an odd number. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `Beware lest the Shaitan toy with you in your prayer. Whoever among you prays and does not know whether he did an even number [of rak`ahs] or an odd number, let him prostrate twice, for that will complete his prayer.`
It was narrated that Masarrah bin Ma`bad said: Yazeed bin Abi Kabshah led us in praying `Asr, then he turned to us after the prayer and said: I prayed with Marwan bin al-Hakam and he did two prostrations like these, then he turned to us and told us that he prayed with ‘Uthman (رضي الله عنه), who narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ) ... and he mentioned a similar report.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ وَزِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سَوَّارٌ أَبُو عُمَارَةَ الرَّمْلِيُّ عَنْ مَسِيرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي كَبْشَةَ الْعَصْرَ فَانْصَرَفَ إِلَيْنَا بَعْدَ صَلَاتِهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ هَاتَيْنِ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَيْنَا فَأَعْلَمَنَا أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَحَدَّثَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ نَحْوَهُ.

Ibraheem bin ‘Abdullah bin Hunain narrated that his father said:
I heard `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade me, but I do not say that he forbade you, to wear gold rings, to wear garments made of a blend of linen and silk or garments dyed with safflower, and to recite Qur`an whilst bowing. He gave me a suit of pure silk and I went out wearing it, and he said: `O ‘Ali, I did not give it to you to wear it.” So I went back to Fatimah (رضي الله عنها) and gave it to her to hold an edge of it, so she took hold of it to fold it with me, but I tore it in two. She said: May your hands be rubbed with dust, O son of Abu Talib! What have you done? I said to her. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade me to wear it. Wear it and give it to your womenfolk.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا أَقُولُ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَكَسَانِي حُلَّةً مِنْ سِيَرَاءَ فَخَرَجْتُ فِيهَا فَقَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ إِنِّي لَمْ أَكْسُكَهَا لِتَلْبَسَهَا قَالَ فَرَجَعْتُ بِهَا إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَأَعْطَيْتُهَا نَاحِيَتَهَا فَأَخَذَتْ بِهَا لِتَطْوِيَهَا مَعِي فَشَقَّقْتُهَا بِثِنْتَيْنِ قَالَ فَقَالَتْ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ يَا ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ مَاذَا صَنَعْتَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لُبْسِهَا فَالْبَسِي وَاكْسِي نِسَاءَكِ.

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3043
Narrated Tariq bin Shihab:
"A man among the Jews said to 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: 'O Commander of the Believers! If we were the ones unto whom this Ayah was revealed, 'This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion (5:3).' - then we would have taken that day as a day of celebration.' So 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said to him: 'Indeed I do know which day this Ayah was revealed upon. It was revealed on the Day of 'Arafah, on Friday.'"
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، وَغَيْرِهِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَوْ عَلَيْنَا أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ : ( الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلاَمَ دِينًا ) لاَتَّخَذْنَا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ عِيدًا . فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ أَىَّ يَوْمٍ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ أُنْزِلَتْ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of the month of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, "Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.” He was also asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (the 10th of the month of Muharram). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Ashura is an expiation for the preceding year.” The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) was also asked about fasting on Monday, and he replied, "This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation." Related by Muslim.
عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ اَلْأَنْصَارِيِّ - رضى الله عنه - { أَنَّ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -سُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ. قَالَ: " يُكَفِّرُ اَلسَّنَةَ اَلْمَاضِيَةَ وَالْبَاقِيَةَ ", وَسُئِلَ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ. قَالَ: " يُكَفِّرُ اَلسَّنَةَ اَلْمَاضِيَةَ " وَسُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ اَلِاثْنَيْنِ, قَالَ: " ذَاكَ يَوْمٌ وُلِدْتُ فِيهِ, وَبُعِثْتُ فِيهِ, أَوْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيَّ فِيهِ " } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1 .

It was narrated from `Ali (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet (ﷺ) gave his wives the choice between this world and the Hereafter; he did not give them the option of divorce.
`Ali bin Hashim bin al-Bareed narrated a similar report and said:
He gave his wives the choice between this world and the Hereafter; he did not give them the option of divorce.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ و حَدَّثَنَاه يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمِ بْنِ الْبَرِيدِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ وَقَالَ خَيَّرَ نِسَاءَهُ بَيْنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَلَمْ يُخَيِّرْهُنَّ الطَّلَاقَ.

Musnad Ahmad 132
Ammar bin Abi ‘Ammar told us that 'Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a ring of gold on a man's hand and he said: “Throw it away,” so he threw it away and acquired a ring of iron. He said: `This is even worse.` Then he acquired a ring of silver, and he did not say anything,
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى فِي يَدِ رَجُلٍ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ أَلْقِ ذَا فَأَلْقَاهُ فَتَخَتَّمَ بِخَاتَمٍ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ فَقَالَ ذَا شَرٌّ مِنْهُ فَتَخَتَّمَ بِخَاتَمٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ.

Musnad Ahmad 134
It was narrated from Jabir that 'Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه told him that he saw a man doing wudoo’ for prayer, and he missed an area the size of a fingernail on the top of his foot. The Prophet ﷺ saw him and said:
`Go back and do your wudoo’ properly.” So he went back and did wudoo’ then he prayed.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ، رَأَى رَجُلًا تَوَضَّأَ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَتَرَكَ مَوْضِعَ ظُفُرٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَدَمِهِ فَأَبْصَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ارْجِعْ فَأَحْسِنْ وُضُوءَكَ فَرَجَعَ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى.

Musnad Ahmad 358
It was narrated that ‘Amr bin Maimoon said:
`Umar (رضي الله عنه) prayed Fajr when he was in Jam`. Abu Dawood said: We were with `Umar in Jamo, and he said: The mustrikoort used not to move on until the sun rose, and they would say: Shine, (Mount) Thabeer. The Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah differed from them and moved on before the sun rose.

It was narrated that `Ali(رضي الله عنه) said:
I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, but I felt too shy to ask the Prophet (ﷺ) about that because of the position of his daughter, so I told al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad to ask him, and he said: `Let him wash his private part and do wudoo’.`

It was narrated that `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade sacrificing an animal with its ears slit from the front, an animal with its ears slit from the back, an animal whose ears are slit in two lengthwise, an animal with a round hole in its ear, and an animal with its nose [or ear or lip] cut off.

Ziyad bin Abi Ziyad narrated. I heard ` Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) adjure the people and say:
“I adjure you by Allah, did any Muslim man hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say what he said on the day of Ghadeer Khumm? And twelve men who had been at Badr stood up and testified.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْأَسْلَمِيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَنْشُدُ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ أَنْشُدُ اللَّهَ رَجُلًا مُسْلِمًا سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ غَدِيرِ خُمٍّ مَا قَالَ فَقَامَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ بَدْرِيًّا فَشَهِدُوا.

It was narrated that `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) instructed me to sell two slaves who were brothers, so I sold them and separated them. I told the Prophet (ﷺ) about that and he said: `Go and find them and take them back, and do not sell them except together.`
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَبِيعَ غُلَامَيْنِ أَخَوَيْنِ فَبِعْتُهُمَا وَفَرَّقْتُ بَيْنَهُمَا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَدْرِكْهُمَا فَأَرْجِعْهُمَا وَلَا تَبِعْهُمَا إِلَّا جَمِيعًا.

It was narrated from Zadhan that `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) drank whilst standing and the people looked at him as if they found it odd. He said:
What are you looking at? If I drink whilst standing, I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) drink whilst standing, and if I drink whilst sitting, I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) drink whilst sitting.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ شَرِبَ قَائِمًا فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ النَّاسُ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَنْكَرُوهُ فَقَالَ مَا تَنْظُرُونَ إِنْ أَشْرَبْ قَائِمًا فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا وَإِنْ أَشْرَبْ قَاعِدًا فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْرَبُ قَاعِدًا.

It was narrated that Maisarah said:
I saw ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) drinking whilst standing. I said to him: Are you drinking whilst standing? He said: If I drink whilst standing I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) drinking whilst standing and if I drink whilst sitting, I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) drinking whilst sitting.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ تَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا فَقَالَ إِنْ أَشْرَبْ قَائِمًا فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا وَإِنْ أَشْرَبْ قَاعِدًا فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْرَبُ قَاعِدًا.

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنها) did wudoo’, he rinsed his mouth three times and his nose three times from one handful of water, and he washed his face three times, then he put his hand in the vessel, then he wiped his head and washed his feet. Then he said:
This is the wudoo’ of your Prophet. (ﷺ)
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ تَوَضَّأَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَتَمَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا مِنْ كَفٍّ وَاحِدٍ وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِي الرَّكْوَةِ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَذَا وُضُوءُ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

It was narrated that ‘Abd Khair said:
I heard ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) saying on the minbar: The best of this ummah after its Prophet are Abu Bakr and ʻUmar, and if l wanted to name the third one, I would name him. A man said to Abu lshaq: They are saying that you say they were the best in evil. He said: Are you a Haroori (i.e.Khariji)?`
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى، رَحْمَوَيْهِ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُجَاشِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أُسَمِّيَ الثَّالِثَ لَسَمَّيْتُهُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِأَبِي إِسْحَاقَ إِنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّكَ تَقُولُ أَفْضَلُ فِي الشَّرِّ فَقَالَ أَحَرُورِيٌّ.

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) ruled that debts must be paid before carrying out bequests, and you recite the words, “after payment of legacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts” [an-Nisa` 4:12]. Brothers from the same mother and father inherit from one another, but brothers from different mothers do not.

It was narrated that ’Abd Khair said:
I saw Ali (رضي الله عنه) doing wudoo’ and wiping over his shoes. Then he said: “If I had not seen the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) doing what you have seen me do, I would have thought that the bottoms of the feet were more deserving of being wiped than their tops”.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى النَّعْلَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي فَعَلْتُ لَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّ بَاطِنَ الْقَدَمَيْنِ هُوَ أَحَقُّ بِالْمَسْحِ مِنْ ظَاهِرِهِمَا.

It was narrated that Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said O Messenger of Allah, tell me of a month that I can fast after Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If you want to fast a month after Ramadan, then fast al-Muharram, for it is the month of Allah and in it is a day on which Allah forgave people and will forgive more people.`
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرٌ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبِرْنِي بِشَهْرٍ أَصُومُهُ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَائِمًا شَهْرًا بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ فَصُمْ الْمُحَرَّمَ فَإِنَّهُ شَهْرُ اللَّهِ وَفِيهِ يَوْمٌ تَابَ فِيهِ عَلَى قَوْمٍ وَيُتَابُ فِيهِ عَلَى آخَرِينَ.

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `In Paradise there are chambers the inside of which can be seen from the outside and the outside can be seen from the inside.` A Bedouin said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who are they for? He said: “For the one who speaks kind words, feeds people and prays to Allah at night when people are asleep.”

Abu Matar al-Basri - who met `Ali (رضي الله عنه) - narrated that ‘Ali bought a garment for three dirhams and when he put it on he said:
Praise be to Allah Who has provided me with a garment with which to beautify myself before the people and cover my `awrah. Then he said: This is what I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ الْفَزَارِيُّ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَطَرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، وَكَانَ، قَدْ أَدْرَكَ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا اشْتَرَى ثَوْبًا بِثَلَاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ فَلَمَّا لَبِسَهُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَزَقَنِي مِنْ الرِّيَاشِ مَا أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ وَأُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (RAA) narrated. ‘The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) has prohibited fasting on two days; the day of Fitr (breaking the fast of Ramadan) and on the day of sacrifice ('Idul Adha).’ Agreed upon.

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2358
Usamah bin Zaid said:
"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, sometimes you fast, and you hardly ever break your hardly ever fast, except two days which, if you are fasting, you include them in your fast, and if you are not fasting, then you fast them on your own.' He said: 'Which two days?' I said: 'Monday and Thursday.' He said: 'Those are two days in which deeds are shown to the Lord of the worlds, and I like my deeds to be shown (to Him) when I am fasting."'
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ أَبُو الْغُصْنِ، - شَيْخٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ تَصُومُ حَتَّى لاَ تَكَادَ تُفْطِرُ وَتُفْطِرُ حَتَّى لاَ تَكَادَ أَنْ تَصُومَ إِلاَّ يَوْمَيْنِ إِنْ دَخَلاَ فِي صِيَامِكَ وَإِلاَّ صُمْتَهُمَا . قَالَ " أَىُّ يَوْمَيْنِ " . قُلْتُ يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ . قَالَ " ذَانِكَ يَوْمَانِ تُعْرَضُ فِيهِمَا الأَعْمَالُ عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ يُعْرَضَ عَمَلِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ " .

Sunan Abi Dawud 3745
Narrated Zubayr ibn Uthman:
The Prophet (saws) said: The wedding feast on the first day is a duty, that on the second is a good practice, but that on the third day is to make men hear of it and show it to them. Qatadah said: A man told me that Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab was invited (to a wedding feast on the first day and he accepted it. He was again invited on the second day, and he accepted. When he was invited on the third day, he did not accept; he said: They are the people who make men hear of it and show it to them.

" الْوَلِيمَةُ أَوَّلُ يَوْمٍ حَقٌّ وَالثَّانِي مَعْرُوفٌ وَالْيَوْمُ الثَّالِثُ سُمْعَةٌ وَرِيَاءٌ " . قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَحَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ دُعِيَ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ فَأَجَابَ وَدُعِيَ الْيَوْمَ الثَّانِي فَأَجَابَ وَدُعِيَ الْيَوْمَ الثَّالِثَ فَلَمْ يُجِبْ وَقَالَ أَهْلُ سُمْعَةٍ وَرِيَاءٍ .

Narrated Ziyad bin Jubair:
I was with Ibn `Umar when a man asked him, "I have vowed to fast every Tuesday or Wednesday throughout my life and if the day of my fasting coincided with the day of Nahr (the first day of `Id-al- Adha), (What shall I do?)" Ibn `Umar said, "Allah has ordered the vows to be fulfilled, and we are forbidden to fast on the day of Nahr." The man repeated his question and Ibn `Umar repeated his former answer, adding nothing more.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَصُومَ كُلَّ يَوْمِ ثَلاَثَاءَ أَوْ أَرْبِعَاءَ مَا عِشْتُ، فَوَافَقْتُ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ. فَقَالَ أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِوَفَاءِ النَّذْرِ، وَنُهِينَا أَنْ نَصُومَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ. فَأَعَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ مِثْلَهُ، لاَ يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِ.

Ibn Mas'ud reported God’s Messenger as saying, “The food on the first day is a duty, that on the second is a sunna, but that on the third day is to make men hear of it; and if anyone makes men hear of what he does God will make him heard of” (i.e. will publish his hypocrisy on the day of resurrection).

Narrated 'Aishah (RA):
Sauda (RA) daughter of Zam'ah gave away her day to 'Aishah (RA). So the Prophet (SAW) allotted a share to 'Aishah (RA) of her day and Sauda's.

Mishkat al-Masabih 3996
Abu Huraira told that God's Messenger stood up among them one day and mentioned dishonesty regarding spoil, treating it and everything connected with it as a serious matter. He then said, “Let me not find any of you coming on the day of resurrection with a camel rumbling on his neck and asking me to rescue him,* for I shall say that I can do nothing for him as I have given him full instruction. Let me not find any of you coming on the day of resurrection with a horse whinnying on his neck and asking me to rescue him, for I shall say that I can do nothing for him as I have given him full instruction. Let me not find any of you coming on the day of resurrection with a sheep bleating on his neck and asking me to rescue him, for I shall say that I can do nothing for him as I have given him full instruction. Let me not find any of you coming on the day of resurrection with a soul shouting on his neck asking me to rescue him, for I shall say that I can do nothing for him as I have given him full instruction. Let me not find any of you coming on the day of resurrection with patches flapping on his neck and asking me to rescue him, for I shall say that I can do nothing for him as I have given him full instruction. Let me not find any of you coming on the day of resurrection with gold and silver on his neck asking me to rescue him, for I shall say that I can do nothing for him as I have given him full instruction.
*Here and in the following phrases the man seeks to be rescued from the thing about which he was dishonest, it being tied to his neck.

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless
him and grant him peace, asked, "Which of you is fasting today?" Abu Bakr
said, "I am." He asked, "Which of you has visited a sick person today?
"I have," Abu Bakr stated. Then he asked, "Who has attended a funeral today?"
"I have," Abu Bakr said. He asked, "Who has fed a poor person today?" Abu
Bakr said, "I have."

قَالَ مَرْوَانُ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: مَا اجْتَمَعَ هَذِهِ الْخِصَالُ فِي رَجُلٍ فِي يَوْمٍ، إِلاَّ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ.
قَالَ مَرْوَانُ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: مَا اجْتَمَعَ هَذِهِ الْخِصَالُ فِي رَجُلٍ فِي يَوْمٍ، إِلاَّ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade fasting on two days - the day of the Id al-Fitr and the day of the Id al-Adha.
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمَيْنِ يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ وَيَوْمِ الأَضْحَى .

Yahya related to me from Malik from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi from Abu Shurayh al-Kabi that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or be silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his neighbour. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should be generous to his guest. His welcome is for a day and a night, and his hospitality is for three days. Whatever is more than that is sadaqa. It is not halal for a guest to stay with a man until he becomes a burden."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْكَعْبِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ
" مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَضِيَافَتُهُ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَثْوِيَ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُحْرِجَهُ " .

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was asked about fasting on Mondays. He said, "That is the day on which I was born and the day on which I received Revelation."

Ibn ‘Abbas reported God’s messenger as saying on the day of the conquest of Mecca, “There is no hijra, but only jihad and intention ; and when you are called to battle, go forth.’’ He also said on the day of the conquest of Mecca, “God made this town sacred on the day He created the heavens and the earth, so it is sacred by the sacredness conferred on it by God till the day of resurrection. Fighting in it has not been lawful to anyone before me and it has been made lawful for me only during one hour on one day, so it is sacred by the sacredness conferred on it by God till the day of resurrection. Its thorns are not to be cut, its game is not to be molested, things dropped are to be picked up only by one who publicly announces it, and its fresh herbage is not to be cut.” Ibn ‘Abbas made the suggestion, “Except the rush, messenger of God, for it is useful for their blacksmiths and for their houses.” He then said, “Except the rush.”
(Bukhari and Muslim.) A version by Abu Huraira has, “Its trees are not to be lopped, and only one who announces it may pick up anything which falls in it.”
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ: «لَا هِجرةَ وَلَكِنْ جِهَادٌ وَنِيَّةٌ وَإِذَا اسْتُنْفِرْتُمْ فَانْفِرُوا» . وَقَالَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَلَدَ حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فَهُوَ حَرَامٌ بِحُرْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يحِلَّ القتالُ فيهِ لأحدٍ قبْلي وَلم يحِلَّ لِي إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِنْ نَهَارٍ فَهُوَ حَرَامٌ بِحُرْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يُعْضَدُ شَوْكُهُ وَلَا يُنَفَّرُ صَيْدُهُ وَلَا يَلْتَقِطُ لُقَطَتُهُ إِلَّا مَنْ عَرَّفَهَا وَلَا يُخْتَلَى خَلَاهَا» . فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْإِذْخِرَ فَإِنَّهُ لِقَيْنِهِمْ وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِلَّا الْإِذْخِرَ»
وَفِي رِوَايَة لأبي هريرةَ: «لَا يُعضدُ شجرُها وَلَا يلتَقطُ ساقطتَها إِلاَّ مُنشِدٌ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Dajjal (Antichrist) saying, “If he comes forth while I am among you I shall be the one who will dispute with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth when I am not among you, a man must dispute on his own behalf, and Allah will take my place in looking after every Muslim. Those of you who live up to his time should recite over him the opening verses of Sūrah al-Kahf, for they are your protection from his trial.” We asked, “How long will he remain on the earth?” He replied, “Forty days, one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, and rest of his days like yours.” We asked, “Messenger of Allah ﷺ, will one day’s prayer suffice us in this day which will be like a year?” He replied, “No, you must make an estimate of its extent. Then Jesus son of Mary will descend at the white minaret to the east of Damascus. He will then catch him up at the gate of Ludd and kill him.”

عَنِ النَّوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ الْكِلاَبِيِّ، قَالَ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الدَّجَّالَ فَقَالَ " إِنْ يَخْرُجْ وَأَنَا فِيكُمْ فَأَنَا حَجِيجُهُ دُونَكُمْ وَإِنْ يَخْرُجْ وَلَسْتُ فِيكُمْ فَامْرُؤٌ حَجِيجُ نَفْسِهِ وَاللَّهُ خَلِيفَتِي عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيَقْرَأْ عَلَيْهِ فَوَاتِحَ سُورَةِ الْكَهْفِ فَإِنَّهَا جِوَارُكُمْ مِنْ فِتْنَتِهِ " . قُلْنَا وَمَا لُبْثُهُ فِي الأَرْضِ قَالَ " أَرْبَعُونَ يَوْمًا يَوْمٌ كَسَنَةٍ وَيَوْمٌ كَشَهْرٍ وَيَوْمٌ كَجُمُعَةٍ وَسَائِرُ أَيَّامِهِ كَأَيَّامِكُمْ " . فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَسَنَةٍ أَتَكْفِينَا فِيهِ صَلاَةُ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ قَالَ " لاَ اقْدُرُوا لَهُ قَدْرَهُ ثُمَّ يَنْزِلُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عِنْدَ الْمَنَارَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ شَرْقِيَّ دِمَشْقَ فَيُدْرِكُهُ عِنْدَ بَابِ لُدٍّ فَيَقْتُلُهُ.
Mishkat al-Masabih 1973
Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “None of you must fast one day or two days just before Ramadan, except in the case of a man who has been in the habit of observing a particular fast, for he may fast on that day.”*
*If a man is in the habit of fasting on a particular day of the week and one or other of the two days before Ramadan falls on that day, he may observe his usual practice.

Narrated Anas (RA) that when Allah's Messenger (SAW) came to al-Madinah, the people had two days on which they engaged in games. He (SAW) said, "Allah has substituted for you something better than them:
the day of sacrifice and the day of breaking the fast."

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be hospitable to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him maintain good the ties of blood relationship; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, must speak good or remain silent".

Mishkat al-Masabih 1368
Ibn ‘Abbas said that a Jew who was with him when he recited, “Today I have perfected for you your religion . . ."(Al-Qur’an; 5:3) remarked, “If this verse had been revealed to us we would have made it a festival." Ibn ‘Abbas replied, “It was revealed on a day which contained two festivals, on a Friday and on the day of ‘Arafa."
Tirmidhi transmitted it and said this is a hasan gharib tradition.
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ: (الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لكم دينكُمْ)
الْآيَةَ وَعِنْدَهُ يَهُودِيٌّ فَقَالَ: لَوْ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ عَلَيْنَا لَاتَّخَذْنَاهَا عِيدًا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: فَإِنَّهَا نزلت فِي يَوْم عيدين فِي وَيَوْم جُمُعَةٍ وَيَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ

"The Messenger of Allah ordered fasting the tenth day for the Day of Ashura."
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِصَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ يَوْمَ الْعَاشِرِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ يَوْمُ التَّاسِعِ . وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ يَوْمُ الْعَاشِرِ . وَرُوِيَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ صُومُوا التَّاسِعَ وَالْعَاشِرَ وَخَالِفُوا الْيَهُودَ . وَبِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ يَقُولُ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاقُ .

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira who said:
One day the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) stood among us (to deliver a sermon). He talked about the misappropriation of booty, and declared it to be a serious matter and a grave sin. Then he said: I shouldn't find that any of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a growling camel mounted on his neck, and should appeal to me for help saying:" Messenger of Allah, help me." and I should say: I have no authority to help you; I already communicated to you. I shouldn't find that any of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a bleating ewe mounted on his neck, and he should say to me:" Messenger of Allah, help me," and I should say: I have no authority to help you; I conveyed to you. I shouldn't find that one of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a Person crying loudly mounted on his neck, and he should say to me:" Messenger of Allah, help me," and I should say: I have no authority to help you; I conveyed to you. I shouldn't find that any one of you should come on the Day of Judgment with fluttering clothes wrapped round his neck and he should say to me:" Messenger of Allah, help me," and I should say: I have no authority to help you; I conveyed to you. I shouldn't find that any of you should come on the Day of Judgment with a heap of gold and silver placed on his neck and he should say to me:" Messenger of Allah, help me." and I should say: I have no authority to help you; I already conveyed to you (the warning from the Almighty).
وَحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ، عَنْ أَبِي، زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَذَكَرَ الْغُلُولَ فَعَظَّمَهُ وَعَظَّمَ أَمْرَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ
" لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ بَعِيرٌ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ فَرَسٌ لَهُ حَمْحَمَةٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ شَاةٌ لَهَا ثُغَاءٌ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ نَفْسٌ لَهَا صِيَاحٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ رِقَاعٌ تَخْفِقُ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي . فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ . لاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ صَامِتٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ " .

He said that God’s messenger [once] asked who had observed a fast that day and Abu Bakr said he had.
He asked who had followed a bier that day and Abu Bakr said he had.
He asked who had fed a poor man that day and Abu Bakr said he had.
He asked who had visited an invalid that day and Abu Bakr said he had.
God’s messenger then said, “Anyone in whom these good deeds are combined will certainly enter paradise."
Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ صَائِمًا؟» قَالَ أَبُو بكر: أَنا قَالَ: «فن تَبِعَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جِنَازَةً؟» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «فَمَنْ أَطْعَمَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِسْكِينًا؟» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «فَمَنْ عَادَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مَرِيضًا؟» . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا اجْتَمَعْنَ فِي امْرِئٍ إِلَّا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Narrated Tariq bin Shihab:
A Jew said to `Umar, "O Chief of the Believers, if this verse: 'This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favors upon you, and have chosen for you, Islam as your religion.' (5.3) had been revealed upon us, we would have taken that day as an `Id (festival) day." `Umar said, "I know definitely on what day this Verse was revealed; it was revealed on the day of `Arafat, on a Friday."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، وَغَيْرِهِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ لِعُمَرَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَوْ أَنَّ عَلَيْنَا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ { الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلاَمَ دِينًا} لاَتَّخَذْنَا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ عِيدًا. فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنِّي لأَعْلَمُ أَىَّ يَوْمٍ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ، نَزَلَتْ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ. سَمِعَ سُفْيَانُ مِنْ مِسْعَرٍ وَمِسْعَرٌ قَيْسًا وَقَيْسٌ طَارِقًا.

"Ibn Abbas recited: This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion (5:3). And a Jew was with him who said: 'If this Ayah was revealed to us then we would have taken that day as a day of celebration.' So Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Indeed it was revealed on two 'Eids: On Friday, and on the Day of 'Arafah.'"
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ قَرَأَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : ( الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلاَمَ دِينًا ) وَعِنْدَهُ يَهُودِيٌّ فَقَالَ لَوْ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ عَلَيْنَا لاَتَّخَذْنَا يَوْمَهَا عِيدًا . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَإِنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ وَيَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُوَ صَحِيحٌ .

Musnad Ahmad 153
It was narrated from Jabir that 'Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man doing wudoo' to pray Zuhr, and he missed a spot the size of a toenail. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him and said:
`Go back and do your wudoo' properly` So he went back and did wudoo', then he prayed.

I heard 'Umar bin al Khattab رضي الله عنه say: l heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, when he was in al'Aqeeq: `Last night someone came to me from my Lord and said: Pray in this blessed valley and say, 'I intend to do 'umrah with Hajj.` Al-Waleed said: i.e., in Dhul-Hulaifah.

It was narrated that Simak bin Harb said:
I heard an-Nu`man - i.e., bin Basheer - say: `Umar (رضي الله عنه) mentioned what the people had acquired of worldly gains and said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) remaining curled up [with hunger pangs] all day, unable to find even the worst type of dates with which to fill his stomach.

was narrated that ‘Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever shades the head of a warrior, Allah will shade him on the Day of Resurrection; whoever equips a warrior until he is fully equipped, will have a reward like his; whoever builds a mosque in which the Name of Allah is mentioned. Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”

The people of Jahiliyyah used not to move on from Jam’ until they said: Shine, Thabeer, so that we may move on quickly. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came, he differed from them and he used to move on from Jam’ before sunrise, like the time when people who delay Fajr usually pray.

“If a person frees his share of a slave, and has enough Money to pay the full price of the slave, a fair price should be worked out for the slave, and his partners should be given their shares, then he may free the slave, otherwise he has freed only what he has freed.”

All-Knowing.` three times, nothing will harm him during that day or that night.”

l entered the mosque and I saw `Uthman bin `Affan (رضي الله عنه) reclining on his rida`. Two water carriers came to him and he judged between them. Then I came to him and looked at him; he was a handsome man with marks of smallpox on his face and his arms were covered with hair.

Then I saw `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) after that on the day of Eid; he started with the prayer before the khutbah and he prayed with no adhan or iqamah. Then he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbidding (the people) to leave any of the meat of their sacrifice after three days.

O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), why do you choose to get married from among Quraysh and you ignore us? He said: `Have you anybody to suggest?` I said: Yes, the daughter of Hamzah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `She is not permissible for me (to marry), for she is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding.`

`Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: I set out and came to a garden and [the owner hired me to draw water]-a date for a bucket. I drew water until I filled my palm [with dates]. Then I went to the water and drank from it. Then I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and gave him some of the dates to eat, and I ate some of them.
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مُوسَى الصَّغِيرِ الطَّحَّانِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ خَرَجْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ حَائِطًا قَالَ فَقَالَ دَلْوٌ بِتَمْرَةٍ قَالَ فَدَلَّيْتُ حَتَّى مَلَأْتُ كَفِّي ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ الْمَاءَ فَاسْتَعْذَبْتُ يَعْنِي شَرِبْتُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَطْعَمْتُهُ بَعْضَهُ وَأَكَلْتُ أَنَا بَعْضَهُ.

Musnad Ahmad 751
It was narrated from `Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say at the end of his Witr `O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, I seek refuge in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot praise You enough, You are as You have praised Yourself.”
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي آخِرِ وِتْرِهِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ.

Musnad Ahmad 759
It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that He came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said:
Abu Talib has died. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Go and bury him,” ‘Ali said: He died a mushrik. He said: “Go and bury him.” “Ali said: When I had buried him, i came back to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: “Do ghusl.”
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ نَاجِيَةَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبَا طَالِبٍ مَاتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اذْهَبْ فَوَارِهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ مَاتَ مُشْرِكًا فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ فَوَارِهِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا وَارَيْتُهُ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِي اغْتَسِلْ.

Musnad Ahmad 911
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said on the day of al-Ahzab: “They distracted us from the middle prayer, Asr prayer. May Allah fill their graves and houses with fire.” Then he prayed [`Asr] between the two evening prayers, between Maghrib and `Isha`. Abu Mu`awiyah said on one occasion: i.e., between Maghrib and ‘Isha`.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ شَكَلٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْأَحْزَابِ شَغَلُونَا عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ مَلَأَ اللَّهُ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا قَالَ ثُمَّ صَلَّاهَا بَيْنَ الْعِشَاءَيْنِ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ و قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ مَرَّةً يَعْنِي بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ.

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
I said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), why do I see you choose a wife from among Quraish and you ignore us? He said: `Have you anyone to suggest?` I said: Yes, the daughter of Hamzah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding.”
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لِي أَرَاكَ تَنَوَّقُ فِي قُرَيْشٍ وَتَدَعُنَا قَالَ عِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ قُلْتُ بِنْتُ حَمْزَةَ قَالَ هِيَ بِنْتُ أَخِي مِنْ الرَّضَاعَةِ.

Musnad Ahmad 970
It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that He called for a jug of water, then he said:
Where are those who say that they dislike drinking whilst standing? He took it and drank whilst standing then he did a light wudoo` and wiped over his shoes, then he said: This is the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for one who is pure and has not broken his wudoo’.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ دَعَا بِكُوزٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيْنَ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يَكْرَهُونَ الشُّرْبَ قَائِمًا قَالَ فَأَخَذَهُ فَشَرِبَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا خَفِيفًا وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا وُضُوءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلطَّاهِرِ مَا لَمْ يُحْدِثْ.

Musnad Ahmad 1061
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) instructed us to check the eyes and ears, and not to sacrifice any animal whose ears are slit in two lengthwise, any animal that has a round hole in its ear as a distinguishing mark, any animal that has the edge of its ears cut, or any animal whose ears were slit from the back.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ وَلَا نُضَحِّيَ بِشَرْقَاءَ وَلَا خَرْقَاءَ وَلَا مُقَابَلَةٍ وَلَا مُدَابَرَةٍ.

It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that he said -`Ali bin Hakeem said in his hadeeth:
Do you not feel protective jealousy when your womenfolk go out, and Hannad said in his hadeeth: Do you not feel ashamed when they go out? - I have heard that your womenfolk go out in the marketplaces, crowding with the rough men.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو السَّرِيِّ، هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ الْأَوْدِيُّ، أَنْبَأَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ أَمَا تَغَارُونَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ نِسَاؤُكُمْ وَقَالَ هَنَّادٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ أَلَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ أَوْ تَغَارُونَ فَإِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ نِسَاءَكُمْ يَخْرُجْنَ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ يُزَاحِمْنَ الْعُلُوجَ.

It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) had a large head, a reddish complexion, large hands and feet, a large beard, a long line of hair from his chest to his navel, and large joints. He walked as if going downhill, energetically. He was neither short not tall. I have never seen anyone like him before or since.
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ شَرِيكٌ قُلْتُ لَهُ عَمَّنْ يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَخْمَ الْهَامَةِ مُشْرَبًا حُمْرَةً شَثْنَ الْكَفَّيْنِ وَالْقَدَمَيْنِ ضَخْمَ اللِّحْيَةِ طَوِيلَ الْمَسْرُبَةِ ضَخْمَ الْكَرَادِيسِ يَمْشِي فِي صَبَبٍ يَتَكَفَّأُ فِي الْمِشْيَةِ لَا قَصِيرٌ وَلَا طَوِيلٌ لَمْ أَرَ قَبْلَهُ مِثْلَهُ وَلَا بَعْدَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
