she freed Barirah and the Messenger of Allah (SAW) gave her the choice, and she (Barirah) had a free husband.

“Surplus water should not be withheld, and neither should surplus water from a well.

“I never saw the Messenger of Allah (saw) fasting the (first) ten days (of Dhul- Hijjah).”

“We used to menstruate at the time of the Prophet (saw), and he would order us to make up for the (missed) fasts.’”

“We used to store trotters and the Messenger of Allah (saw) would eat them fifteen days after the sacrifice.”

“The Prophet (saw) enjoined killing Dhit-Tufytain* for it takes away the sight and causes miscarriage.” *That means a wicked snake.

“Whoever drinks from a silver vessel, it is as if he is swallowing Hell-fire into his belly.”

“It is as if I can see the races of perfume in the parting (of hair) of the Messenger of Allah (saw), while he is reciting the Talbiyah.”

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Prophet (saw) garlanded, and marked, and sent (the sacrificial animals), but he did not avoid anything that the one in Ihram avoids.

“The Prophet (saw) used to pray at night, and I was laying between him and the prayer direction, as a (body for a) funeral horizontally.’”

“When he performed ablution the Prophet (saw) would pray two (short) Rak’ah and then go out for the prayer.”

“The Prophet (saw) used to pray the Maghrib, then he would come back to my house and pray two Rak’ah.”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to sleep during the first part of the night and stay awake during the latter part.”

“Breaking the bones of the deceased is like breaking his bones when he is alive.”

“Aishah narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (saw) prayed Witr with one Rak’ah, then he prayed two Rak’ah in which he recited while sitting, then when he wanted to bow, he stood up and bowed.”

The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) used to take bath with from a vessel (which contained seven to eight seers, i.e., fifteen to sixteen pounds) because of sexual intercourse.

Abu Dawud said: The version narrated by Mu’ammar on the authority of al-Zuhri has: She (‘A’ishah) said: I and the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) took a bath from a vessel which was equal to al-faraq in measurement (i.e., containing water about seven or eight seers).

Abu Dawud said: Ibn ‘Uyainah also narrated like the version of Malik.

Abu Dawud said; I heard Ahmad b. Hanbal say: Al-Faraq contains sixteen rotls (of water). I also heard him say: The sa’of of Ibn Abi Dhi’b contained 5 rotls (of water). The view that a sa’ contains eight rotls (of water) is not safe.

Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad (b. Hanbal) say: Whoever gave 5 1/3 rotls (measuring) with our rotl alms of fitr (sadaqat al-fitr), he gave in full, Thereupon he was questioned: Are the dates called al-saihani heavier (can one sa’ of them be given as alms of fitr)? He replied: The dates called al-saihani are good. But I do not know (whether water is heavier or the dates).

The Apostle of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) said : The rinsing of mouth and snuffing up water in the nose are acts that bear the characteristics of fitrah (nature). He then narrated a similar tradition (as reported by Aishah), but he did not mention the words "letting the beard grow". He added the words "circumcision" and "sprinkling water on the private part of the body". He did not mention the words "cleansing oneself after easing".

Abu Dawud said : A similar tradition has been reported on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas. He mentioned only five sunnahs all relating to the head, one of them being parting of the hair; it did not include wearing the beard.

Abu Dawud said: The tradition as reported by Hammad has also been transmitted by Talq b. Habib , Mujahid, and Bakr b. 'Abd Allaah b. al-Muzani as their own statement ( not as a tradition from the Prophet, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ).They did not mention the words "letting the beard grow". The version transmitted by Muhammad b. Abd Allaah b. Abi Maryam, Abu Salamah, and Abu Hurairah from the Prophet ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) mentions the words "letting the beard grow". A similar tradition has been reported by Ibrahim al-Nakha'i. He mentioned the words "wearing the beard and circumcision."

That 'Abd Allah b. Abbas, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Azhar and al-Miswar b. Makhramah sent him to 'Aishah, wife of the Prophet (saws). They said: Convey our regards to her from all of us and ask her about the two rak'ahs after the 'Asr prayer, and tell her that we have been informed that she prays them, and we are told that the Messenger of Allah (saws) prohibited them. I entered upon her and told her that for which they had sent me to her. She said: Ask Umm Salamah. I returned to them (Ibn 'Abbas and others) and informed them about her opinion. They sent me back to Umm Salamah with the same mission for which they had sent me to 'Aishah. Umm Salamah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) prohibiting them, but later on I saw him praying them. When he prayed them, he had offered the 'Asr prayer. He then came to me while a number of women from Banu Haram from the Ansar were sitting with me. He prayed these two rak'ahs. I sent a slave girl to him and I told her: Stand beside him and tell him that Umm Salamah has asked: Messenger of Allah (saws), I heard you prohibiting these two rak'ahs (after the afternoon prayer) but I see you praying them yourself. If he makes a sign with his hand, step backward from him. The slave girl did so. When he finished prayer, he said: O daughter of Abu Umayyah, you asked about the praying of two rak'ahs after the 'Asr prayer, in fact, some people of 'Abd al-Qais has come to me with the news that their people had embraced Islam. They hindered me from praying the two rak'ahs after Zuhr prayer. It is those two rak'ahs (which I offered after the 'Asr prayer)

A woman asked her: "Does a woman who menstruates have to make up for the prayers she misses?" 'Aisha said to her: "Are you a Haruriyyah? We used to menstruate with the Prophet and then become pure, and he did not tell us to make up for the prayers we missed."

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) entered the house and saw a piece of bread that had been thrown (on the floor). He picked it up, wiped it and ate it, and said: ‘O ‘Aishah, show honor to the precious (i.e., food), for is the blessing of food departs from people, it never comes back.’”

"I could not find the Messenger of Allah one night. So I left and found him at Al-Baqi. He said: 'Did you fear that you had been wronged by Allah and His Messenger?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I thought that you had gone to one of your wives.' So he said: 'Indeed Allah, Mighty and Sublime is He, descends to the lowest Heavens during the night of the middle of Sha'ban, to grant forgiveness to more than the number of hairs on the sheep of (Banu) Kalb.'"

"I told the Prophet (saws) about a man, so he said: 'I do not like to talk about a man, even if I were to get this or that (for doing so)." She said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Safiyyah is a woman who is ..." and she used her hand as if to indicate that she is short - "So he said: 'You have said a statement which, if it were mixed in with the water of the sea, it would pollute it."

"Zaid bin Harithah arrived in Al-Madinah while the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was in his house. So he went and knocked at the door, so the Messenger of Allah (SAW) stood naked (1), dragging his garment - and by Allah! I did not see him naked before nor afterwards - and he hugged him and kissed him." (1) They say that the meaning of naked here is that he was not wearing his Rida or upper wrap and it was that which was dragging, so the area between the navel and knees were covered. See Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi.

"The Messenger of Allah (SAW) entered upon me and some words had reached me from Hafsah and 'Aishah. So I mentioned it to him. So he said: 'Why did you not say: "And how are you two better than me, while my husband is Muhammad and my father is Harun, and my uncle is Musa?" That which had reached her, was that they had said: "We are more honored to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) than her," and that they said: "We are the wives of the Prophet (SAW) and his cousins."

When a person complained to the Prophet (PBUH) about an ailment or suffered from a sore or a wound, the Prophet (PBUH) would touch the ground with his forefinger and then raise it (Sufyan bin `Uyainah, the narrator, demonstrated this with his forefinger) and would recite: `Bismil-lahi, turbatu ardina, biriqati ba`dina, yushfa bihi saqimuni, bi 'idhni Rabbina' (With the Name of Allah, the dust of our ground mixed with the saliva of some of us would cure our patient with the permission of our Rubb.''

"The Messenger of Allah and I used to perform ablution from a single vessel, when the cat had drunk from it beforehand."

"When the two circumcised parts meet, then bath is obligatory. The Messenger of Allah and I did that, and we bathed."

The Prophet said: "Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who menstruates (i.e., an adult woman) except with a head cover."

"The Messenger of Allah gave us the choice, and we chose him, and he did not consider it as something (i.e., an effective divorce)."

the Messenger of Allah (SAW) bought some food from a Jew with payment to be made later, and he pawned his armor for that.

“I used to part the hair of the Messenger of Allah (saw) behind his crown, and let his forelock hang down.”

“It is as if I can see the traces of perfume in the parting (of hair) of the Messenger of Allah (saw) after three days, and he was a Muhrim.”

“The Jews do not envy you for anything more than they envy you for the Salam and (saying) ‘Amin’.”

It was narrated from Hisham bin ‘Urwah, from his father, from ‘Aishah, that the Messenger of Allah (saW) used to say one Salam, to the front.

“When the Prophet (saw) prayed the two (Sunnah) Rak’ah of Fajr, he would lie down on his right side.”

“If I had known then what I know now, no one would have washed the Prophet (SAW) but his wives.”

“I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: ‘Every prayer in which the Ummul-Kitab (the Mother of the Book) is not recited is deficient.’”

When the Prophet (saws) entered upon me, he would ask: Do you have food ? When we said: No, he would say: I am fasting. Waki' added in his version: Another day when he entered upon us, we said: Messenger of Allah, some pudding (hair) has been presented to us and we have retained it for you. He said: Bring it to me. Talhah said: He fasted in the morning, but broke his fast (that day).

The Messenger of Allah liked to start on the right when purifying himself, when combing his hair and when putting on his footwear.

"The Messenger of Allah would become sexually impure and then sleep without water until he got up later on and taken a bath."

"The Messenger of Allah was performing prayer, and I was by his side. I was menstruating, and I was wearing a wool cloak, and part of it was over him."

"All of your wives have a Kunyah except me." He said: "You are Umm Abdullah".

that from every twenty Dinar or more. The Prophet used to take half a Dinar and from forty Dinar, one Dinar.

"I used to play with dolls when I was with the Messenger of Allah, and he used to bring my friends to me to play with me."

the Prophet (SAW) said: "It is not permissible for a woman to mourn for any deceased person for more than three days, except for her husband."

"The image-makers will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be told: 'Give life to that which you have created.' "

"The best of your provision is what you earn, and your children are part of what you earn. "

“Do not cut off (the thief's hand) except for something worth one quarter of a Dinar or more

“The Prophet (saw) used to strive hard (in worship) in the last ten nights of Ramadan as he never did at any other time.”

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) only forbade storing the meat of the sacrifices because the people were facing hardship. Then later he permitted that.”
