isnād meets the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim (al-Arnaʾūṭ, no. 14312).
Isnād and Rijāl: Imām Aḥmad ← Sufyān ibn ʿUyayna ← ʿAmr ibn Dīnār ← Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh (same chain as Ḥadīth 31). Sufyān ibn ʿUyayna: thiqah ḥāfiẓ faqīh imām. ʿAmr ibn Dīnār: thiqah ḥāfiẓ. Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh: Companion. Takhrīj: al-Bukhārī, no. 7439; Muslim, no. 191; al-Tirmidhī, no. 2596. This ḥadīth affirms the doctrine of shafāʿa (intercession) and the divine mercy that will rescue sinful believers from the Hellfire after a period of punishment, a matter confirmed by mutawātir narrations in al-Bukhārī, Muslim, and others. These people are called al-jahannamiyyūn in other narrations (the people of Hellfire who nonetheless believed) and are distinguished in Paradise by their marks from the fire, which fade by the grace of Allāh. The doctrine of intercession and the ultimate salvation of all believers who entered the Fire is foundational to Sunnī theology and is rejected by the Muʿtazila who held that sinful believers are eternally damned.
