مُسْنَدُ الْعَدَّاءِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ هَوْذَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 323
Al-ʿAddāʾ ibn Khālid ibn Hawdhah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressing the people on the Day of ʿArafah, upon a camel, standing in the stirrups.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ أَبُو عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنِي الْعَدَّاءُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ هَوْذَةَ، قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ قَائِمًا فِي الرِّكَابَيْنِ

Chain: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ → ʿAbd al-Majīd Abū ʿAmr → al-ʿAddāʾ ibn Khālid ibn Hawdhah (may Allah be pleased with him) → witnessed directly. Rijāl: (1) Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ al-Ruʾāsī (d. 197 AH); thiqah thabt imām, ʿābid, one of the foremost ḥadīth masters of his generation. (2) ʿAbd al-Majīd Abū ʿAmr: as vowelled in the source. (3) al-ʿAddāʾ ibn Khālid ibn Hawdhah: a Companion for whom the Prophet ﷺ personally wrote out a bill of sale, preserved as one of the earliest examples of an Islamic commercial document.
