مُسْنَدُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْجَرْمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 324
ʿAmr ibn Salamah al-Jarmī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, from his father:
[The tribe of Jarm] came as a delegation to the Prophet ﷺ, and when they wished to depart they said, “O Messenger of Allah, who should lead us in prayer?” He said, “Whichever of you has gathered the most Qurʾān,” or, “has taken in the most Qurʾān.” ʿAmr said: There was no one among the people who had gathered more Qurʾān than I had, so they brought me forward though I was [still] a boy, and I would lead them in prayer wearing a small cloak of mine. He said: I have not attended a single gathering of Jarm since, without being their imām, and I lead their funeral prayers to this day.
