مُسْنَدُ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 319
Yūsuf ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ named me Yūsuf and wiped over my head.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ الْعَطَّارُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يُوسُفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: سَمِعَهُ مِنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ قَالَ: «سَمَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوسُفَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِي

Chain: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ → Yaḥyā ibn Abī al-Haytham al-ʿAṭṭār → Yūsuf ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ al-Ruʾāsī (d. 197 AH); thiqah thabt imām, ʿābid, one of the foremost ḥadīth masters of his generation. (2) Yaḥyā ibn Abī al-Haytham al-ʿAṭṭār: ṣadūq. (3) Yūsuf ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām: son of the Companion ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām, the learned rabbi of Madīnah who embraced Islam; Yūsuf himself met the Prophet ﷺ as a small child and is counted among the Companions on that basis. Takhrīj: al-Tirmidhī; Ibn Mājah; al-Ṭabarānī, al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr.
