مُسْنَدُ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 320
Yūsuf ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat me on his lap, wiped over my head, and named me Yūsuf.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يُوسُفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ يَقُولُ: «أَجْلَسَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجْرِهِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِي وَسَمَّانِي يُوسُفَ

Chain: Abū Aḥmad al-Zubayrī → Yaḥyā ibn Abī al-Haytham → Yūsuf ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Abū Aḥmad Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Zubayrī: Abū Aḥmad Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Zubayrī; thiqah thabt. (2) Yaḥyā ibn Abī al-Haytham, (3) Yūsuf: as above. Takhrīj: al-Tirmidhī; Ibn Mājah; al-Ṭabarānī, al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr, a second independent chain adding that the Prophet ﷺ seated the boy on his lap before naming him.
