مُسْنَدُ الْهِرْمَاسِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْبَاهِلِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 310
Al-Hirmās ibn Ziyād al-Bāhilī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while my father had me ride behind him on a donkey; I was young, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon at Minā on his she-camel al-ʿAḍbāʾ.

حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْهِرْمَاسُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ، قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي مُرْدِفِي خَلْفَهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ، وَأَنَا صَغِيرٌ، فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ بِمِنًى عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ الْعَضْبَاءِ

Chain: Bahz ibn Asad → ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār → al-Hirmās ibn Ziyād al-Bāhilī (may Allah be pleased with him) → witnessed directly. Rijāl: (1) Bahz ibn Asad al-ʿAmmī al-Baṣrī: thiqah thabt. (2) ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār al-ʿIjlī al-Yamāmī: ṣadūq, his narrations generally graded ḥasan, though some critics found fault specifically in his transmissions from Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr (not relevant here). (3) al-Hirmās ibn Ziyād al-Bāhilī: a child Companion, having seen the Prophet ﷺ while still young, as this very hadith attests. Takhrīj: Abū Dāwūd; al-Nasāʾī. The she-camel al-ʿAḍbāʾ was the Prophet's well-known riding camel, mentioned across many hadiths of the Farewell Pilgrimage and other journeys.
