Three-Narrator Ahadith 259
ʿĀmir al-Muzanī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressing the people at Minā on a mule, wearing a red cloak, with a man who had witnessed [the Battle of] Badr standing before him, relaying his words [to the crowd]. I came forward and put my hand between his foot and his sandal-strap, and I marveled at how cool it was.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ بِمِنًى عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ، وَعَلَيْهِ بُرْدٌ أَحْمَرُ» قَالَ: وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يُعَبِّرُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: فَجِئْتُ حَتَّى أَدْخَلْتُ يَدِي بَيْنَ قَدَمِهِ وَشِرَاكِهِ، قَالَ: «فَجَعَلْتُ أَعْجَبُ مِنْ بَرَدِهَا»

Rijāl: (1) Abū Muʿāwiyah: Abū Muʿāwiyah Muḥammad ibn Khāzim al-Ḍarīr (d. 195 AH); thiqah ḥāfiẓ, the most precise narrator from al-Aʿmash. (2) Hilāl ibn ʿĀmir al-Muzanī: graded maqbūl, narrating principally from his own father. (3) ʿĀmir al-Muzanī: a Companion present at Minā during the Farewell Pilgrimage. Takhrīj: the broader scene of the Prophet’s ﷺ addressing large crowds at Minā during the Farewell Pilgrimage, with designated men relaying (yuballighu/yuʿabbiru) his words to those out of earshot, is corroborated in Muslim’s lengthy Ḥajjat al-Wadāʿ narration from Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh (1218) and in accounts of Rabīʿah ibn Umayyah ibn Khalaf serving as the Prophet’s ﷺ announcer.
