Three-Narrator Ahadith 236
ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
We came [to Makkah] with the Prophet ﷺ; he circumambulated the House and performed saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah — that is, during the ʿUmrah — and we would shield him from the polytheists lest they harm him in any way.

on the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
Chain: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ → Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid → ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā (may Allah be pleased with him). Rijāl: (1) Wakīʿ: Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ al-Ruʾāsī (d. 197 AH); thiqah ḥāfiẓ, precise and devout. (2) Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid: Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid al-Aḥmasī al-Bajalī (d. 146 AH); thiqah thabt. (3) Ibn Abī Awfā: ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā; Companion (Ṣaḥābī); one of the Companions of the Tree (Bayʿat al-Riḍwān) and the last Companion to die in Kūfah, 86–87 AH. Takhrīj: al-Bukhārī, Kitāb al-Maghāzī (4032); Muslim, Kitāb al-Jihād (1811). Commentary: A shorter parallel of the preceding report, again describing the Companions’ protective vigilance over the Prophet ﷺ during ʿUmrat al-Qaḍāʾ, when Makkah remained under Qurashī control and residual hostility toward the Muslims persisted despite the truce of al-Ḥudaybiyah.
