Three-Narrator Ahadith 235
ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the [compensatory] ʿUmrah; he circumambulated the House, then went out and performed saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah, and we began shielding him from the people of Makkah lest anyone throw something at him or harm him. I heard him ﷺ invoking Allah against the confederates, saying, “O Allah, Revealer of the Book, swift in reckoning, Defeater of the confederates — O Allah, defeat them and shake them.”

on the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
Chain: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān → Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid → ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā (may Allah be pleased with him). Rijāl: (1) Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān al-Baṣrī (d. 198 AH); thiqah thabt imām, a foremost authority in jarḥ wa taʿdīl. (2) Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid: Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid al-Aḥmasī al-Bajalī (d. 146 AH); thiqah thabt. (3) ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā: ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā; Companion (Ṣaḥābī); one of the Companions of the Tree (Bayʿat al-Riḍwān) and the last Companion to die in Kūfah, 86–87 AH. Takhrīj: al-Bukhārī (4032); Muslim (1811, 1812). Commentary: This refers to ʿUmrat al-Qaḍāʾ (the “compensatory ʿUmrah”) in 7 AH, performed by the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions after the Makkan polytheists had barred them from entering the previous year at al-Ḥudaybiyah; the supplication he ﷺ made against al-Aḥzāb (the confederate tribes who had besieged Madīnah in 5 AH) reflects his enduring concern for divine aid against those who continued to threaten the Muslim community.
