مُسْنَدُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 200
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Among the supplications of the Prophet ﷺ on the day of the Battle of Ḥunayn was: “O Allah, if You will [that the Muslims be defeated], You shall not be worshipped after this day.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ تَشَأْ أَنْ لَا تُعْبَدَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ».

Chain: Aḥmad → Yazīd ibn Hārūn → Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Yazīd ibn Hārūn ibn Zādhān al-Wāsiṭī (d. 206 AH): Thiqa mutqin; one of the great huffāẓ of his era. (2) Ḥumayd ibn Abī Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl al-Baṣrī (d. 142 AH): Thiqa. (3) Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him): The servant of the Prophet ﷺ for ten years; died 93 AH. Takhrīj: Aḥmad (3/121). The supplication was made at the height of the Battle of Ḥunayn, when the Muslim army briefly wavered, and expresses absolute reliance upon divine will. A very similar wording is found in Muslim (2726), via a different chain from Anas.
