Three-Narrator Ahadith 198
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at al-Baqīʿ when a man called out to [another] man, “O Abū al-Qāsim!” The Prophet ﷺ turned toward him, and the man said, “I did not mean you, O Messenger of Allah; I only meant so and so.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Name yourselves after my name, but do not take my kunya.”

its transmitters trustworthy, on the conditions of the two Shaykhs.
Chain: Aḥmad → Yazīd ibn Hārūn and ʿAbdallāh ibn Bakr al-Sahmī, both → Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. In ʿAbdallāh ibn Bakr's wording the Prophet ﷺ said only, “Name yourselves after my name.” Rijāl: (1) Yazīd ibn Hārūn al-Wāsiṭī: thiqa mutqin ʿābid, d. 206 AH. (2) ʿAbdallāh ibn Bakr ibn Ḥabīb al-Sahmī al-Bāhilī al-Baṣrī, Abū Wahb (d. 208 AH): thiqa. (3) Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl al-Baṣrī: thiqa, a mudallis, d. 142 AH. (4) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion, d. ca. 93 AH. Takhrīj: Al-Bukhārī (3538) and (6187); Muslim (2131); Aḥmad (12218). The report is the basis for permitting the name Muḥammad while withholding the kunya Abū al-Qāsim. The scholars differ as to the scope of the prohibition: whether it was tied to the Prophet's ﷺ lifetime, when a call might be mistaken for a call to him as happened here, or whether it is general and enduring, and a third view permits the kunya alone but forbids joining it to the name. Al-Baqīʿ is the burial ground of Madina.
