isnād meets the conditions of Muslim (al-Arnaʾūṭ, no. 14263); the hadith itself is sound, though Hushaym here uses ʿan (from) rather than akhbaranā; this does not affect authenticity as the content is confirmed through numerous other chains.
Isnād and Rijāl: Imām Aḥmad ← Hushaym ibn Bashīr ← Abū al-Zubayr ← Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh (same chain as Ḥadīth 16). Hushaym ibn Bashīr: thiqah ḥāfiẓ. Abū al-Zubayr: ṣadūq. Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh: Companion. Takhrīj: Muslim, no. 1598; Abū Dāwūd, no. 3333; al-Tirmidhī, no. 1206; Ibn Mājah, no. 2277. Ribā encompasses interest charged on loans and any unlawful surplus in an exchange of the same commodity. The curse upon all four parties (consumer, payer, two witnesses, and scribe) indicates that every person who participates in facilitating an act of usury shares in its moral liability, regardless of the directness of their involvement. Contemporary forms include interest collected on bank accounts and charged on loans.
