Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Musnad Aḥmad 166

Chain: Aḥmad, [the text having been read aloud to] Sufyān ibn ʿUyayna → ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Sufyān ibn ʿUyayna al-Hilālī al-Makkī: thiqa ḥāfiẓ faqīh, d. 198 AH. (2) ʿĀṣim ibn Sulaymān al-Aḥwal al-Baṣrī: thiqa, d. 142 AH. (3) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion, d. ca. 93 AH. Takhrīj: Al-Bukhārī (3937); Abū Dāwūd (2922); Aḥmad (12089). Sufyān's gloss clarifies that ḥālafa here does not carry its pre-Islamic tribal sense of swearing a pact of mutual alliance, but refers to the ʿaqd al-muʾākhāt, the compact of brotherhood concluded shortly after the hijra, by which each Emigrant was paired with a Helper. The house of Anas ibn Mālik thus holds the distinction of having been its setting. The mutual inheritance that initially accompanied this brotherhood was later withdrawn by Q. 8:75, while the bond of loyalty and support remained.
