Three-Narrator Ahadith 163
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
“A Bedouin entered the mosque during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and urinated. The people rebuked him, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Leave him,’ and he commanded that water be poured over it.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ: دَخَلَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ الْمَسْجِدَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَالَ، فَنَهَوْهُ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «دَعُوهُ»، وَأَمَرَ أَنْ يُصَبَّ عَلَيْهِ أَوْ أُهَرِيقَ الْمَاءُ.

Chain: Aḥmad → Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān → Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān al-Baṣrī (d. 198 AH): thiqa mutqin; an imām and the foremost authority of his age in the criticism of transmitters, and the preeminent teacher of Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal. (2) Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī al-Madanī: thiqa thabt, d. 143 AH. (3) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion, d. ca. 93 AH. Takhrīj: Al-Bukhārī (6025); Muslim (284); Aḥmad (12132). A notable feature of this thulāthī is that the two upper links bear the same name, Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, yet are two distinct imāms: al-Qaṭṭān of Baṣra and al-Anṣārī of Madina. The wording preserves the Prophet's ﷺ forbearance in not interrupting the man mid-act, which would have soiled him and the mosque more widely and driven him away from the religion.
