Three-Narrator Ahadith 149
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
When the Muslims were routed on the day of the Battle of Ḥunayn, Umm Sulaym called out: “O Messenger of Allah, kill those who fled and let you down!” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: “O Umm Sulaym, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has sufficed [and given us victory].” Then Abū Ṭalḥah came to her and found her holding an axe. He asked, “What is this, Umm Sulaym?” She replied, “If any polytheist comes near me, I will rip open his belly.” Abū Ṭalḥah said to the Prophet ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah, look at what Umm Sulaym is saying!”

Musnad Aḥmad 149

according to the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
Chain: Aḥmad → Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿAdiyy → Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿAdiyy al-Sulamī al-Baṣrī: thiqa thabt, d. 194 AH. (2) Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl al-Baṣrī: thiqa, d. 142 AH. (3) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion, d. ca. 93 AH. Takhrīj: Muslim (1809); Aḥmad (12058). Al-Bukhārī records related material on Ḥunayn at (4317). The battle took place in Shawwāl 8 AH, shortly after the conquest of Makkah, against Hawāzin and Thaqīf; the initial rout of the Muslims and the subsequent descent of divine tranquillity are described in Q. 9:25 and 9:26. Umm Sulaym was pregnant at the time according to some routes, and her husband Abū Ṭalḥah al-Anṣārī was among those who stood firm. Her words about those who fled were an expression of indignation rather than a legal request, and the Prophet's ﷺ reply turned her from it without rebuke.
