Three-Narrator Ahadith 140
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, all of us dislike death.” He replied, “That [dislike] is not what is meant by hating to meet Allah. Rather, when the believer is near death a glad tiding comes to him from Allah of what he is about to receive, and there is nothing then more beloved to him than having met Allah, so Allah loves to meet him. But when the sinner or the disbeliever is near death, tidings come to him of the evil that awaits him, and he hates to meet Allah, so Allah hates to meet him.” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 140
