Three-Narrator Ahadith 125
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Some people will enter the Hellfire, and when they have been reduced to charcoal they will be brought out and admitted into Paradise. The dwellers of Paradise will say of them: ‘These are al-Jahannamiyyūn (the people of the Fire).’“

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ — وَكَانَ دَبَّاغًا، وَكَانَ حَسَنَ الْهَيْئَةِ عِنْدَهُ أَرْبَعَةُ أَحَادِيثَ — قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَدْخُلُ نَاسٌ الْجَحِيمَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا حُمَمًا أُخْرِجُوا، فَأُدْخِلُوا الْجَنَّةَ، فَيَقُولُ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ: هَؤُلَاءِ الْجَهَنَّمِيُّونَ».

Chain: Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal → Wakīʿ [ibn al-Jarrāḥ] → Yazīd ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ al-Baṣrī → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ al-Ruwāsī al-Kūfī: thiqa ḥāfiẓ; died 197 AH. (2) Yazīd ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ al-Baṣrī: a tanner (dabbāgh) of good character; only four ḥadīths of his are known, all narrated from Anas ibn Mālik via Wakīʿ. He is accepted as a narrator (maqbūl). (3) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion. Takhrīj: Aḥmad (3/183), no. 12897; al-Bukhārī (6559) through a different chain; Muslim (191). The designation al-Jahannamiyyūn is a mark that will distinguish them from those who entered Paradise without first passing through the Fire — not a title of shame but a reminder of Allah’s ﷻ vast mercy in ultimately admitting them into Paradise after their purification.
