"My father owed some dates to a Jew. He was killed on the Day of Uhud and he left behind two gardens. The dates owed to the Jew would take up everything in the two gardens. The Prophet said: 'Can you take half this year and half next year?' But the Jew refused. The Prophet said: 'When the time to pick the dates comes, call me.' So I called him and he came, accompanied by Abu Bakr. The dates were picked and weighed from the lowest part of the palm trees, and the Messenger of Allah was praying for blessing, until we paid off everything that we owed him from the smaller of the two gardens, as calculated by 'Ammar. Then I brought them some fresh dates and water and they ate and drank, then he said: 'This is part of the blessing concerning which you will be questioned.'"

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: Cleanse your nose well (after snuffing up water) twice or thrice.

The Prophet (saws) said: When any of you dozes in the mosque (on Friday), he should change his place.

The Prophet (saws) was asked: which is the best action? He replied: To stand in prayer for a long time.

The Prophet (saws) said: The best time for a man to go in to his family on return from a journey is at the beginning of the night.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) sacrificed a ram for both al-Hasan and al-Husayn each (Allah be pleased with them).

The Prophet (saws) said: people of two different religions would not inherit from one another.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) commanded to remove weapons and skins from the martyrs of Uhud, and that they should be buried with their blood and clothes.

I saw that the Prophet (saws) put a date on a loaf and said: This is a thing eaten with bread (condiments).

The Messenger of Allah (saws) forbade to sell grain which one buys by measurement until one receives it in full.

I saw that the Prophet (saws) took a piece of bread of barley and put a date on it and said: This is the condiment of this.

The Prophet (saws) said: If someone is donated something, and he mentions it, he thanks for it, and if he conceals it, he is ungrateful for it.

When the Messenger of Allah (saws) sat talking (to the people), he would often raise his eyes to the sky.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: One should not sit between two men except with their permission.

"A Sunnah of the prayer is that you should raise your right foot, and make your left foot lie (on the ground)."

"I went out to At-Tur and met Ka'b. He and I spent a day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On this day, Adam was created, on this day he was sent down, on it his repentance was accepted, on this day he died, and on this day the Hour will begin. There is no living creature on Earth that does not listen out from Friday morning until the sun rises, fearing the onset of the Hour, except the son of Adam. On (Friday) there is an hour in which, if a believer prays and asks Allah for something, He will give it to him. Ka'b said: Is that one day in every year? I said: No, it is every Friday.' Then Ka'b read in the Tawrah and said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) spoke the truth; it is every Friday. Then I went out and met Basrah bin Abi Basrah Al-Ghifari. He said: From where have you come? I said: From At-Tur. He said: If I had met you before you went there, you would not have gone. I said to him: Why? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: Do not travel especially to visit any masjid except three: Al Masjid Al-Haram (in Makkah), my masjid (in Al-Madinah) and the Masjid of Bait Al-Maqdis (in Jerusalem). Then I met 'Abdullah bin Salam and said: 'If you had only seen me, I went to At-Tur and met Ka'b, and he and I spent the day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. 'Abdullah said: Ka'b spoke the truth; I know when that time is. I said: O my brother, tell me about it. He said: It is the last hour of Friday, before the sun sets. I said: Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: If a believer prays, but that is not a time for prayer. He said: Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: Whoever prays and sits waiting for the (next) prayer, is in a state of prayer until the next prayer comes? I said: Of course. He said: That is what it is."

The Messenger of Allah (saws) came upon us. We brought water for him in a brass vessel and he performed ablution.

I was not commanded to build high mosques. Ibn Abbas said: You will certainly adorn them as the Jews and Christians did.

The Prophet (saws) said: Anyone who is in doubt in his prayer should make two prostrations after giving the salutation.

The Prophet (saws) said: May Allah show mercy to a man who prays four rak'ahs before the afternoon prayer.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) did not make a prostration at any verse in al-Mufassal from the time he moved to Medina.

The Prophet (saws) said: The supplication which gets the quickest answer is that made by one distant Muslim for another.

During the time of the Messenger of Allah (saws) we used to consider ma'un (this of daily use) lending a bucket and cooking-pot.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) disapproved that a man should come to his family during the night (after returning from a journey).

The Messenger of Allah (saws) cursed the one who accepted usury, the one who paid it, the witness to it, and the one who recorded it.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) was asked about a charm for one who is possessed (nashrah). He replied: It pertains to the work of the devil.

The Prophet (saws) as saying: If anyone wears a garment for gaining fame, Allah will clothe him in a similar garment on the Day of Resurrection.

Nafi' told that Ibn Umar used to say: I swear by Allah that I do not doubt that Antichrist is Ibn Sayyad.

The Prophet (saws) said: Blood-wit for every wound which lays bare a bone is five camels.

He also said through this chain: The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: Cutting of the hand is not to be inflicted on one who is treacherous.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) forbade the sale of fruits till they were clearly in good condition, forbidding it both to the seller and to the buyer.

The Prophet (saws) said: He who begs (from people) when he is affluent will come on the Day of Resurrection with scrapes, scratchings, or lacerations on his face. He was asked: What constitutes affluence, Messenger of Allah? He replied:It is fifty dirhams or its value in gold.

The narrator Yahya said: Abdullah ibn Sufyan said to Sufyan: I remember that Shu'bah does not narrate from Hakim ibn Jubayr. Sufyan said: Zubayr transmitted to us this tradition from Muhammad ibn AbdurRahman ibn Yazid.

When the Prophet (saws) felt the need of relieving himself, he went far off where no one could see him.

The extent of the shadow when the Messenger of Allah prayed (the noon prayer) was three to five feet in summer and five to seven feet in winter.

I saw the Prophet (saws) praying on the day of the conquest of Mecca and he had placed his shoe at his left side.

The Prophet (saws) said: He who recites the Qur'an in a period less than three days does not understand it.

The Prophet (saws) abominated the combination of paternal and maternal aunts and the combination of two maternal aunts and two paternal aunts in marriage.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: A single rider is a devil, and a pair of riders are a pair of devils, but three are a company of riders.

The Prophet (saws) fixed the ransom of the people of pre-Islamic Arabia at four hundred dirhams per head on the day of the battle of Badr.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: Prepare food for the family of Ja'far for there came upon them an incident which has engaged them.

The Prophet (saws) said: When one of you dies, and he possesses something, he should be shrouded in the garment of the Yemeni stuff.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) cursed women who visit graves, those who built mosques over them and erected lamps (there).

The Prophet (saws) said: Life-tenancy is lawful for the one to whom it is given and donation of property to go to the survivor is lawful to whom it is given.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) was never seen reclining while eating, nor walking with two men at his heels.

The Prophet (saws) was brought some dates which contained worms. He then mentioned the rest of the tradition to the same effect as the previous (No 3823).

The Messenger of Allah (saws) made me read the verse "It is I who give (all) sustenance, Lord of power, steadfast (for ever).

I saw the Prophet (saws) reading the verse; "does he think that his wealth would make him last for ever?"

It is part of the Sunnah that when a man sits down, he should take off his sandals and place them at his side.

The Prophet (saws) said: Cutting of hand is not to be inflicted on one who plunders, but he who plunders conspicuously does not belong to us.

The Prophet (saws) said: The Qadariyyah are the Magians of this community. If they are ill, do not pay a sick visit to them, and if they die, do not attend their funerals.
