Hisn al-Muslim 157
Allāhumma’ghfir liḥayyinā, wa mayyitinā,
wa shāhidinā, wa ghā'ibinā,
wa ṣaghīrinā wa kabīrinā,
wa dhakarinā wa unthānā.
Allāhumma man aḥyaytahu minnā
fa aḥyihi `ala ‘l-Islām,
wa man tawaffaytahu minnā
fatawaffahu `alal-īmān,
Allāhumma lā taḥrimnā ajrah
wa lā tuḍillanā ba`dah.
O Allah forgive our living and our dead,
those who are with us and those who are absent,
our young and our old,
our menfolk and our womenfolk.
O Allah, whomever you give life from among us
give him life in Islam,
and whomever you take away from us
take him away in Faith.
O Allah, do not forbid us their reward
and do not send us astray after them.

Ibn Umar (ra) said: Allah's Messenger (saws) used to repeat in a single sitting:
My Lord, forgive me,
and accept my repentance,
You are the Ever-Relenting, the All-Forgiving.

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said:
"O Abdullah bin Qais, should I not point you to one of the treasures of Paradise?"
I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah."
So he told me to say:
Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata 'illā billāh.
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: "O Abdullah bin Qais, should I not point you to one of the treasures of Paradise?"
I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah."
So he told me to say:
There is no power and no might except by Allah.

Jabir said that in the course of a journey God’s messenger saw a crowd and a man who had been put in the shade. On asking the reason and being told that he was fasting he said, “Fasting while on a journey is not a part of righteousness.”

Abu Huraira reported the Prophet as saying, “God has not sent a prophet who did not work as a shepherd.” His companions asked whether this was also true of him and he replied, “Yes, I used to be a shepherd for the people of Mecca for a payment of some qirats.”

‘Amir b. Rabi'a said that a woman of the B. Fazara was married for a dower of two sandals. When God’s Messenger asked whether she was satisfied with two sandals regarding her person and her property and she replied that she was, he gave his approval.

Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying, “If anyone helps in killing a believer to the extent of half a word,* he will meet God with ‘Despairing of God’s mercy’ written on his forehead.”
Ibn Majah transmitted it.
* This is taken to mean that it is a serious matter even to utter half the word which expresses an intention to kill a believer.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Safwan ibn Sulaym from Ata ibn Yasar from Abu Said al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Ghusl on the day of jumua is incumbent on every male who has reached puberty."
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ
" غُسْلُ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ " .

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Ali ibn Abi Talib used to say that if a man said to his wife, "You are haram for me," it counted as three pronouncements of divorce.
Malik said, "That is the best of what I have heard on the subject."

Nubayt had seen the Prophet (saws) in Arafat.

Sunan Abi Dawud 1944
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:
The Messenger of Allah (saws) hastened from al-Muzdalifah with a quite demeanour and ordered them (the people) to throw small pebbles and he hastened in the valley (wadi) of Muhassir.

Sunan Abi Dawud 3137
Narrated Anas ibn Malik:
The Prophet (saws) passed by Hamzah who was disfigured (after being killed). He did not offer prayer over any martyr except him.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:
The Prophet (saws) said: If anyone says when swearing an oath: "If Allah wills," he makes an exception.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ :
" مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَقَالَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَقَدِ اسْتَثْنَى " .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1666

Mishkat al-Masabih 2583
Qudama b. ‘Abdallah b. 'Ammar said that he saw God’s messenger running between as-Safa and al-Marwa on a camel without striking it, or driving people away, or telling them to move aside.
It is transmitted in Sharh as-sunna.
وَعَنْ قُدَامَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ لَا ضرب وَلَا طرد وَلَا إِلَيْك. رَوَاهُ فِي شرح السّنة

Mishkat al-Masabih 2708
‘Abdallah b. ‘Umar said :
We went out with God’s messenger but the infidels of Quraish barred the way to the House, so the Prophet sacrificed his animals and had his head shaved, and his companions clipped their hair.
Bukhari transmitted it.
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَالَ كَفَّارُ قُرَيْشٍ دُونَ الْبَيْتِ فَنَحَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَدَايَاهُ وَحَلَقَ وَقَصَّرَ أَصْحَابه. رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ

Mishkat al-Masabih 592
Anas said that God’s Messenger used to pray the afternoon prayer when the sun was high and bright, then one would go off to al-'Awali (Villages on high ground outside Medina) and get there while the sun was still high. Parts of al-‘Awali were four miles or thereabouts from Medina.

Mishkat al-Masabih 1146
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri told how a man came when God’s Messenger had already prayed, and he said, “Will no one give alms* to this man and pray along with him?” Thereupon a man got up and prayed along with him.
* This is a literal translation. The idea is that by joining with him he increased the reward the man would receive for his prayer, as prayer in company has a much greater reward than prayer alone.
Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud transmitted it.
وَعَن أبي سعيد الْخُدْرِيّ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَقَدْ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «أَلَا رَجُلٌ يَتَصَدَّقُ عَلَى هَذَا فَيُصَلِّيَ مَعَهُ؟» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فيصلى مَعَه ". رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَأَبُو دَاوُد

Mishkat al-Masabih 1378
Ibn Mas'ud reported the Prophet as saying to people who stayed away from the Friday prayer, “I have thought about commanding a man to lead the people in prayer, then burning their houses over men who stayed away from the Friday prayer."
Muslim transmitted it.
عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنِ الْجُمُعَةِ: «لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ أُحْرِقَ عَلَى رِجَالٍ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنِ الْجُمُعَةِ بُيُوتهم» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Mishkat al-Masabih 1485
Jabir said there was an eclipse of the sun in the time of God’s Messenger on the day his son Ibrahim died. He led the people in prayer, performing six bowings and four prostrations.
Muslim transmitted it.
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ بِأَرْبَعِ سَجَدَاتٍ. رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Ali said that al-'Abbas asked God’s messenger about paying his sadaqa in advance before it became due, and he gave him permission to do that.

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي تَعْجِيل صَدَقَة قَبْلَ أَنْ تَحِلَّ: فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ وَالدَّارِمِيُّ

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying,
“A man who came upon a branch of a tree overhanging a road and decided to move if from the way of Muslims to keep it from annoying them was brought into paradise."

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
" مَرَّ رَجُلٌ بِغُصْنِ شَجَرَةٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِ طَرِيقٍ فَقَالَ: لِأُنَحِّيَنَّ هَذَا عَنْ طَرِيقِ الْمُسلمين لَا يؤذيهم فَأدْخل الْجنَّة "

Mishkat al-Masabih 4157
Abu Rafi' told th at he saw God's messenger uttering the call to prayer in the ear of al-Hasan b. ‘Ali when Fatima gave birth to him.
Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a hasan sahih tradition.
وَعَن أبي رافعٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أذَّنَ فِي أُذُنِ الحسنِ ابنِ عليٍّ حِينَ وَلَدَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ بِالصَّلَاةِ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ. وَقَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَيْثُ حسن صَحِيح

Mishkat al-Masabih 4275
Ibn ‘Umar said:
In the time of God’s messenger we used to eat while walking and drink while standing.
Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a hasan sahih gharib tradition.
عَن ابنِ عمَرَ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَأْكُلُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَمْشِي وَنَشْرَبُ وَنَحْنُ قِيَامٌ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ وَالدَّارِمِيُّ وَقَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ

Mishkat al-Masabih 3877
Abu Qatada reported the Prophet as saying, “The best type of horse is the black one with a blaze on its face and a white spot on its upper lip* next comes the horse with a blaze on its face and white on the legs, except on a right one. If it is not black, then a dark bay horse with those markings.”
* Artham. This may mean either that it has a white spot on its upper lip, or on the point of its nose.
Tirmidhi and Darimi transmitted it.
وَعَن أبي قَتَادَة عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «خَيْرُ الْخَيْلِ الْأَدْهَمُ الْأَقْرَحُ الْأَرْثَمُ ثُمَّ الْأَقْرَحُ الْمُحَجَّلُ طُلُقُ الْيَمِينِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَدْهَمَ فَكُمَيْتٌ عَلَى هَذِهِ الشِّيَةِ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَالدَّارِمِيُّ

Thauban reported God's messenger as saying, "I fear for my people only the leaders who lead men astray, for when the sword is used among my people it will not be withdrawn from them till the day of resurrection."

وَعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّمَا أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْأَئِمَّةَ الْمُضِلِّينَ وَإِذَا وُضِعَ السَّيْفُ فِي أُمَّتِي لَمْ يُرْفَعْ عَنْهُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد والترمذيُّ

Jabir told that he heard God's messenger say, "When Quraish accused me of falsehood I stood up in al-Hijr, then God made Jerusalem clear to me, and I informed them of its distinguishing marks while I was looking at it."

'Ubayd al-Kindi al-Kufi reported that he heard 'Ali ibn Abi Talib
said, "The cursers are cursed."

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 669
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, used to seek refuge "from the trouble of affliction, meeting
with wretchedness, an evil decree, and the gloating of enemies."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُمَيٌّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلاَءِ، وَدَرَكِ الشَّقَاءِ، وَسُوءِ الْقَضَاءِ، وَشَمَاتَةِ الأعداء.
