مُسْنَدُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 72
Ziyād ibn al-Rabīʻ Abū Khidāsh al-Yuḥmidī narrated to us, saying, “I heard Abū ʻImrān al-Jawnī say, ‘I heard Anas ibn Mālik say, “I do not recognize anything today of what we used to have in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” We said to him, “What about the prayer?” He said, “Have you not done to the prayer what you have done?”’”

حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ أَبُو خِدَاشٍ الْيُحْمَدِيُّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيَّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ: «مَا أَعْرِفُ شَيْئًا الْيَوْمَ مِمَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» قَالَ: قُلْنَا لَهُ: فَأَيْنَ الصَّلَاةُ؟ قَالَ: «أَوَلَمْ تَصْنَعُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ»

Musnad Aḥmad 3/101, no. 11977. Its isnād is ṣaḥīḥ according to the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
Anas ibn Mālik outlived the Prophet ﷺ and witnessed many changes in the way people prayed and worshipped; he meant that many no longer prayed at the proper times, as had been the practice in the Prophet’s day.
