Three-Narrator Ahadith 7
ʿAbdullāh ibn Dīnār said:
I heard ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar (رضي الله عنهما) say: ‘I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: “The two parties to a sale have the right of cancellation (khiyār al-majlis) so long as they have not parted, or unless it is a stipulated option sale (bayʿ khiyār).”‘

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الْبَيِّعَانِ بِالْخِيَارِ مَا لَمْ يَتَفَرَّقَا، أَوْ يَكُونَ بَيْعَ خِيَارٍ.»

isnād meets the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim (al-Arnaʾūṭ, no. 4566).
Isnād and Rijāl: Imām Aḥmad ← Sufyān ibn ʿUyayna ← ʿAbdullāh ibn Dīnār ← ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar (same chain as Ḥadīth 1). Sufyān ibn ʿUyayna: thiqah ḥāfiẓ. ʿAbdullāh ibn Dīnār: thiqah. ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar: Companion. Here ʿAbdullāh ibn Dīnār explicitly states he heard it from Ibn ʿUmar, who states he heard it from the Prophet (ﷺ). Takhrīj: al-Bukhārī, nos. 2111, 2112; Muslim, no. 1531; Abū Dāwūd, no. 3456; al-Tirmidhī, no. 1245; al-Nasāʾī, no. 4464; Ibn Mājah, no. 2181. Khiyār al-majlis is the right each party to a sale retains to annul the transaction as long as they remain at the place where it was concluded. Bayʿ khiyār is a conditional sale in which one or both parties stipulate an option period after separation during which either may withdraw.
