مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُسْرٍ الْمَازِنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 305
Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī reported:
ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr showed me a mole on the side of his head (qarn), and I placed my finger on it. He said, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his finger on it and said, ‘You will surely live a qarn (century or full lifetime).’” Abū ʿAbdullāh added, “And he [ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr] had long hair reaching his shoulders.”

حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، قَالَ: أَرَانِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُسْرٍ شَامَةً فِي قَرْنِهِ، فَوَضَعْتُ إِصْبُعِي عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: وَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِصْبُعَهُ عَلَيْهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «لَتَبْلُغَنَّ قَرْنًا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: «وَكَانَ ذَا جُمَّةٍ

Chain: ʿIṣām ibn Khālid → al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī → ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) ʿIṣām ibn Khālid: ʿIṣām ibn Khālid al-Ḥimṣī; ṣadūq. (2) al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī: al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī; maqbūl, a minor Syrian narrator. (3) ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr: ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr ibn Abī Busr al-Māzinī; Companion (Ṣaḥābī) of Syria, one of the last Companions to die, at nearly a hundred years of age. Takhrīj: This report is cited by al-Dhahabī and other biographers as an explanation for ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr's remarkable longevity, being reported to have lived to nearly a hundred years and to have been the last of the Prophet's Companions to die in Syria (d. 88 AH, though some give later dates). The wordplay on qarn (which can mean both "a mole/horn" on the head, and "a century" or "a full lifetime") is characteristic of prophetic blessings expressed through such double meanings.
