Three-Narrator Ahadith 30
Jābir (رضي الله عنه) reported:
“A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ), accepted Islam, and pledged allegiance to him [vowing] to migrate [to Medina]. He had not waited long before he was struck by fever. He came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘Release me [from my pledge].’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘I will not release you.’ He came again and said: ‘Release me.’ He said: ‘I will not release you.’ He came a third time and said: ‘Release me.’ He said: ‘No.’ The man then fled. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Medina is like a furnace (kīr): it expels its impurities and refines what is good.’” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 30
