Chain: Aḥmad → Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah → Abū Ḥāzim → Sahl ibn Saʿd (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah ibn Mīmūn al-Hilālī al-Kūfī (d. 198 AH): Thiqa ḥāfiẓ faqīh imām. One of the greatest scholars of ḥadīth and fiqh in the Ḥijāz. (2) Abū Ḥāzim: Salamah ibn Dīnār al-Aʿraj al-Madanī (d. 135 AH): Thiqa ʿābid. (3) Sahl ibn Saʿd al-Sāʿidī (may Allah be pleased with him): Abū l-ʿAbbās; the last Companion to die in Madinah, died c. 88–91 AH at over ninety years of age. Takhrīj: Aḥmad (5/330); al-Bukhārī (6503); Muslim (2950). Al-Bukhārī narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said this while pointing with his index and middle fingers, holding them close together, to indicate the nearness of the Day of Judgement to his sending. The ḥadīth is mutawātir in meaning.
