Three-Narrator Ahadith 191
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“I entered Paradise and found myself by a river whose banks had tents of pearl. I placed my hand in the bed of the flowing water and [found] a most fragrant musk. I said: ‘O Jibrīl, what is this?’ He said: ‘This is al-Kawthar that Allah has given you, or: that your Lord has given you.’”

Musnad Aḥmad 191

Chain: Aḥmad → Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān → Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl → Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: (1) Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān al-Baṣrī: thiqa mutqin, d. 198 AH. (2) Ḥumayd ibn Abī Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl al-Baṣrī: thiqa, d. 142 AH. (3) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion, d. ca. 93 AH. Takhrīj: Al-Bukhārī (6581); Muslim (400); Aḥmad (12151). Al-Kawthar is a river of Paradise granted to the Prophet ﷺ, named in Q. 108:1, and the reports connect it with the Basin, al-ḥawḍ, from which his community will drink on the Day of Resurrection. The uncertainty preserved at the end, whether Jibrīl said “Allah has given you” or “your Lord has given you,” is the transmitter's scruple in not settling a wording he could not be sure of.
