مُسْنَدُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 62
Hushaym narrated to us:
Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl informed us, from Anas ibn Mālik, that the Prophet’s lateral incisor was broken on the day of Uḥud and his forehead was wounded, so that the blood flowed down his face. He said, “How can a people prosper who have done this to their Prophet while he calls them to their Lord?” Then this verse was revealed: ‘It is not for you [O Prophet] to decide whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers.’

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، وَشُجَّ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ، حَتَّى سَالَ الدَّمُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ: «كَيْفَ يُفْلِحُ قَوْمٌ فَعَلُوا هَذَا بِنَبِيِّهِمْ وَهُوَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ» فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: ﴾لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ﴿ [آل عمران: 128]
