مُسْنَدُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 295
Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon a group from [the tribe of] Aslam who were competing in archery in the marketplace, and said, “Shoot, sons of Ismāʿīl, for your father was an archer. Shoot, and I am with the clan of so-and-so”, meaning one of the two teams. The other team then held back their hands, so he said, “Shoot.” They said, “Messenger of Allah, how can we shoot when you are with the clan of so-and-so?” He said, “Shoot, and I am with all of you.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْأَكْوَعِ، قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَوْمٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ وَهُمْ يَتَنَاضَلُونَ فِي السُّوقِ فَقَالَ: «ارْمُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ، فَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ كَانَ رَامِيًا، ارْمُوا وَأَنَا مَعَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ» ـ لِأَحَدِ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ ـ فَأَمْسَكُوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ، فَقَالَ: «ارْمُوا» ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَيْفَ نَرْمِي وَأَنْتَ مَعَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ؟ قَالَ: «ارْمُوا وَأَنَا مَعَكُمْ كُلُّكُمْ

Chain: Aḥmad → Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd → Yazīd ibn Abī ʿUbayd → Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: as above. Takhrīj: al-Bukhārī; Aslam is the Companion Salamah's own tribe.
