Three-Narrator Ahadith 289
Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ (may Allah be pleased with him) was keen to pray at the place where the muṣḥaf was kept, and he mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was keen to pray in that same place; and there was, between the pulpit and the qiblah wall, a gap through which a sheep could pass.

Musnad Aḥmad 289

according to the conditions of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
Chain: Aḥmad → Ḥammād ibn Masʿadah → Yazīd ibn Abī ʿUbayd → Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ (may Allah be pleased with him) → the Prophet ﷺ. Rijāl: as above. Takhrīj: al-Bukhārī. This detail, that the gap between the pulpit and the qiblah was only wide enough for a sheep to pass, is cited by jurists discussing the permissible distance between an imām and the sutrah (barrier) placed in front of him during prayer.
