مُسْنَدُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ
Three-Narrator Ahadith 113
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There will come to you people whose hearts are softer than yours.” Then the Ashʿarīs (i.e., from the Tribe of Al-Ash’ar) arrived — among them Abū Mūsā [al-Ashʿarī] — and as they drew near to Madīnah they began chanting in poetic verse:
Tomorrow we shall meet our beloved ones — Muḥammad and his companions.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، وَيَزِيدَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَقْدَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَقْوَامٌ أَرَقُّ قُلُوبًا مِنْكُمْ، أَرَقُّ مِنْكُمْ أَفْئِدَةً». فَقَدِمَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ فِيهِمْ أَبُو مُوسَى، فَجَعَلُوا لَمَّا دَنَوْا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ يَرْتَجِزُونَ:
غَدًا نَلْقَى الْأَحِبَّهْ ۞ مُحَمَّدًا وَحِزْبَهْ

Rijāl: (1) Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd ibn Farrūkh al-Tamīmī al-Baṣrī; thiqa mutqin, ḥāfiẓ, imām of his time; died 198 AH. (2) Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl: thiqa. (3) Anas ibn Mālik: Companion. Takhrīj: Aḥmad (3/105), no. 12872; al-Bukhārī (4232); Muslim (2500). The Ashʿarīs are the tribe of Ashʿar, from whom Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him) hailed.
