Sahih al-Bukhari
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
"Al-Rubayyi', the daughter of al-Naḍr, broke the tooth of a girl. Her [family] sought [for her] to pay blood-money and to be forgiven, but [the injured girl's family] refused. They came to the Prophet ﷺ, who ordered retaliation (qiṣāṣ). Anas ibn al-Naḍr said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is the tooth of al-Rubayyi' to be broken? No, by Him Who sent you with the Truth, her tooth shall not be broken!' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Anas, the Book of Allah ordains retaliation.' The [injured girl's] family then forgave her. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'There are among the slaves of Allah those who, if they were to swear by Allah, Allah would fulfil their oath for them.'" [Al-Fazārī adds, through Ḥumayd from Anas: The people agreed and accepted the blood-money.] Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 2703
