Chapter: Encouragement to honor one's neighbor and guest, and the obligation to remain silent unless one has something good to say, and the fact that all of that is part of faith

باب الْحَثِّ عَلَى إِكْرَامِ الْجَارِ وَالضَّيْفِ وَلُزُومِ الصَّمْتِ إِلاَّ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَكَوْنِ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ مِنَ الإِيمَانِ
Sahih Muslim 47 c
Another hadith similar to one narrated (above) by Abu Husain is also reported by Abu Huraira with the exception of these words:
He (the Prophet) said: He should do good to the neighbour.
وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي حَصِينٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ
" فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ " .
