Sufyān informed us, on the authority of Ziyād ibn ʿIlāqah, who heard it from Usāmah ibn Sharīk (may Allah be pleased with him). Usāmah was present with the Prophet ﷺ while the Bedouins were asking him, “Would we incur blame for such-and-such? Would we incur blame for such-and-such?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: “O servants of Allah, Allah has removed blame, except from a person who unjustly violates his brother’s honor; he is the one who has incurred blame and brought ruin upon himself.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, should we seek medical treatment?” He replied: “Seek treatment, for Allah has not sent down any illness without also sending down a remedy for it, except death.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is the finest gift a servant may be granted?” He replied: “Excellent character.” Reference: Thulāthiyyāt Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh 3
